Fox Anchor Jodi Applegate Set To Announce Shocking Family Secret ON AIR

The New York Post's Michael Starr reports that Jodi Applegate, former MSNBC and NBC personality and veteran of local morning broadcasts across the country (including New York's "Good Day New York," where she currently anchors) is set to announce a shocking family secret on the air tomorrow:

Applegate's mother, Margaret, died in 1981 of breast cancer when Jodi was only 17. When she passed away, a family secret was supposed to have gone with her.

"In late 1963, she found herself pregnant and not married, which was a real scandal in those days, especially if you were Irish-Catholic," says Applegate, especially in Wheeling, W. Va.

"She hid her pregnancy, disappeared for several months and returned with a baby she said she'd gotten at an orphanage.

"She said, 'I'm going to keep her and adopt her' . . . It was a story that allowed her to live in that town and go to that church."

Applegate grew up believing she was adopted. Eventually, her mother married, but never had any more children.

Sometimes I can't believe the lengths some conspirists will go to find a connection between the Kennedy family and ANY scandal. I was alive and kicking in 1963 and was raised Catholic. I certainly can remember how MUCH of a public scandal it was then for an unmarried girl to get pregnant. Stories like this happened often in those days. Let's try to be a little more sensitive. Abortion is not a joke.
The women who make that decision do so with just as much thought and anguish as a woman who decides to continue a pregnancy. Maybe even moreso since there is still a stigma attached to abortion in some areas of our society.
My heart goes out to women who have been in the position of having to choose.

Her mother was a courageous person, and she's a fortunate daughter to have been so wanted and loved.

But why do we have to know this personal tidbit about Applegate. Who cares? I don't care just about as much as I don't care whether Rachel Maddow has same sex preferences. I really hate this "cult of personality," especially when it concerns media talking heads.

That's what we told my biological brother!! *just kidding* I'm sure that must have hurt to find out the truth. It was quite better than the alternative and I'm sure she's quite grateful to her mother for making the decision not to terminate the birth.

She may be grateful she wasn't aborted, but I'm sure she is not gratful to the bigoted and narrow minded attitudes the Catholic Church still spews to this day. If she does, she's brain washed. Sex then, and now, is for procreation not enjoyment according to the Church. Her mother committed a mortal sin with the fear of rotting in hell for promiscuity and becoming pregnant out of wedlock. Sure, the times were more uptight then. But the Catholic religion is still uptight when it comes to sex and the rights of women. Except, of course, if you are priest. Then, as long as you are not caught, enjoy.
