Olbermann Slams Clinton Camp: Timeline Of Moving Goalposts

First Posted: 5/14/08 Updated: 5/25/11

Keith Olbermann

Keith Olbermann offered another long diatribe against the Clinton campaign last night (though nothing compared to his Special Comment in March). Olbermann recited an exhaustive list of statements from Clinton and her supporters about which states should count, and why.

Watch the goal posts move, state by state:

That's our man on the left God bless him! I am glad that the guys on our side are not the hysterical cracked out clowns of the right. I'm so proud of being a liberal!

Olbermann is the answer to all of the inane spinsters that are constantly propped up by corporate media
03:40 PM on 05/07/2008
I love this video. But it's still worth noting that I doubt Hillary would still be in the race if not for the media's seemingly endless willingness to give her chances to make a comeback.
07:15 AM on 05/08/2008
the media hasn't given her opportunities for comebacks. we the people who have voted for her and support her have given her chances. the media has been trying to dance on her grave since she lost iowa.

olberman is tiresome and dishonest. he loves to pick and choose his "facts." if he something can be said in three sentences, he takes 70 pages to say it. i've stopped watching msnbc because of him.

hillary won the "tie-breaker." but the media again wants to crown obama. just like they crowned bush in his runs against gore and kerry.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- On the second day of his Indiana bus tour, Obama said the state could be a potential "tiebreaker" in the lengthy nomination process.

"I think Indiana is very important," Obama said. "We've got three contests coming up in pretty big states -- Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Indiana. They all have significant numbers of delegates, and they are states where Sen. Clinton and I are actively campaigning."

"You know, Sen. Clinton is more favored in Pennsylvania,” he added, “and I'm right now a little more favored in North Carolina, so Indiana right now may end up being the tiebreaker. So we want to work very hard in Indiana. While Sen. Clinton has some advantages here, I benefit coming from an adjoining state.”

I'm officially in love with Keith Olberman.

I'm really sick and tired of the ObaManiacs trying to DISENFRANCHISE voters at both ends of the election. After disenfranchising 26 million people in Florida and Michigan, at the start of the election, the ObaMorons also want to disenfranchise the states that have not yet voted.
04:31 PM on 05/07/2008
Consider that your candidate needs unelected SUPERDELEGATES to overturn the pledged delegates, and the popular vote (Even with FL, MI, and all of the remaining states).

Consider that your candidate herself agreed to ignore the results of Florida and Michigan.

Consider that one of her chief operatives, Ickes, was on the DNC committee that stripped the FL delegates.

"Disenfranchising" is counting the votes of illegitimate elections and getting an oligarchy to overturn the votes of everyone else. This argument was bizarre when Ferrarro wrote it up in the NYT, and it is absolutely absurd at present.

I like Hillary. In some ways, a lot. She has many good policy ideas and some (not overwhelming) relevant experience.

The future of the supreme court is more important than anyone's emotional attachment to their candidate. Arguments like the "disenfranchisement" tack do not help anyone's cause at this point.

Please. It's time to bury the hatchet.

And I'm sick of people pretending (hopefully) to have no clue how the system works.

MI and FL are in the spot they're in because of their own state legislatures. They moved the primary dates in the first place, they knew what the consequences would be, and they shut down the possibility of revotes once those consequences became reality. You want to be mad at someone, be mad at them. The end.

And I have yet to hear from a single person who wants the remaining states not to vote. If Hillary drops out, voting will continue, just as it has in the Republican primaries, even through McCain is the nominee... Just as it has in almost every other primary in both parties in recent history.

Take a Social Studies class, man.

Gee willikers, I wonder why it took so long for them to count the votes in that Indiana county adjacent to Chicago's South Side?

Oh yeah, Reverend Wright was RAISING THE DEAD! Halleluyah! Reverend Wright and the Daley Machine RAISING THE DEAD! Just LOOK at all of the DEAD PEOPLE who were resurrected and able to VOTE for Obama!!! Halleluyah!

Oh, MSNBC missed that? They were probably too busy reciting "Hail Obama" to notice all of those dead Democrats popping out of the grave and voting for Obama. It was a MIRACLE! A MIRACLE I tell you!

But Chicagoans are accustomed to it. The great resurrection of the dead happens every election day in Chicago. Wait until November! The Chicago population will probably DOUBLE! Halleluyah!

03:32 PM on 05/07/2008
If the vote count in Lake County didn't seem a little fishy to you, please put down the kool aid and step away from the TV. Chicago has a long history of election manipulation. (holding out blocks of results to affect a certain candidate.) It looked like Mayor Rudy Clay, an Oabama supporter, was trying to win it for Barry in the dead of night. (after midnight anyway) The rest of the state, 98%. Lake County 0%. As for Kieth Obamaman, he is so in the tank for Barry, it is laughable. He needs to get back to attacking the current president and administration. He is no longer relevant or objective. His hate for Hillary is just too obvious. After his cocaine addiction, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and became a big fan, watching him every nite for years. He and Chris Matthews (softballs) can drool all over their candidate. I am watching CNN.
03:08 PM on 05/07/2008
And, of course, you a proof of your claims? Yeah, that's what I thought. Go away.
02:26 PM on 05/07/2008
This BS excuse from Obama that he lost Indiana because of Rush Limbaugh is total horse patootie.

Republicans have a legimate reason to vote for HIllary. Because of Bush's unpopularity, there is a good likelihood that ANY Democrat will win the election.

Consequently, Republicans would likely PREFER Hillary as President over Obama.

The idea that Obama is the stronger candidate is LUDICROUS. He is getting CLOBBERED by McCain in Electoral college counts, while Hillary is WINNING. But since Democrats are FOOLS, it is not surprising that they will nominate a LOSER. Stupid fools.

And the stupid FOOLS are still not counting Florida and Michigan. Do the DNC FOOLS think that FL and MI are going to disappear in November? What a collection of silly FOOLS the Democrats are! Too bad that we are going to have to put up with 4 years of McCain. Better than Obama, anyway.
03:18 PM on 05/07/2008
Are you on drugs? Obama has not dignified the Limbaugh thing at all. Everyone knows that the Republicans are going to bury Clinton in the graveyard they will build with the skeletons in her closet. Newt Gingrich said that he does NOT want to face Obama. Hillary would be easy for the Republicans. She had bloodied Obama so there is nothing else to know about him. Now McCain would have to fight him on the issues. That would be a losing battle. Obama has chosen not to smear Clinton- to my personal dismay because he could (the current lawsuit in LA , the Bosnia LIE, the Iran foolishness, her poorly run and broke campaign, her long-time friends' choice to back him, etc). Obama is stronger because he HAS been clobbered and is unscathed. Most people who think for themselves want a positive President and a positive message. Republicans may have to re-write their playbook all together.

FL and MI? Hillary Clinton agreed with all other candidates that those states would not count. The residents were aware which is why most of them did NOT vote. In MI, Clinton lost to OTHER (which received 51% of the vote). How the hell do you lose to OTHER? Only 20% of the registered dems in FL voted. Hillary doesn't really care about "let the people vote". She cares about winning at all costs- including breaking rules she signed to abide by. She is a LIAR and a HYPOCRITE!

I used to like OlberbamaMan, now I hate him. I watch Bill O. instead. Sad to say, Fox News is a million times more objective than OlberbamaMan and the rest of the ObaManiacs at MSNBC. He sucks the Obama weinie.

So now Obama is one step closer to winning the nomination and LOSING the election.

The party is over so turn out the lights on the primer and lets get on with the General Election. I think Obama would be well served to offer Hillary the VP job if she does not want it. Should he take someone like Wesley Clark, are Bill Richardson? The Republican are scared and will pull out all stops first they will try to divide and conquer the Republican party is fighting for it very life they will try ever dirty trick they have know. But we will over come. The white guy for Obama

Hillary as VP??..no no no way.

Maybe months ago before her kitchen sink antics...but now??..oh heck no.

Jim Webb is the best choice.

It might make tactical sense if she wouldn't actually accept it. O gets to look gracious and Hillary gets a piece of dignity, yet doesn't pull down his campaign.

But it would be dangerous to offer the VP to her because she would probably join the ticket in contradiction of all logic and reason. Obama needs someone who will shore up his appeal with independents and moderate republicans.

I'd be happy to see Rendell.

Seeing as more than 60% of the nation wouldn't vote for Hillary under any circumstances prior to the election, and that number has significantly risen due to her actions during this campaign, it would be political suicide to accept her as VP when Obama needs to appeal to all (and let's not forget how angry the African American populace and the Educated are at her, deservedly so).
08:34 AM on 05/07/2008
The Clintons - like the republicans - make so many "misstatements" that you can't keep track of all of them to expose each for what they are. By the time one lie is exposed, two others have taken its place and people lose interest in the original lie. And so on, and so on, and so on.

One of the reasons I enjoy Keith O is he keeps track for us, reminds everyone and calls the Clintons (and the republicans) to account. And he doesn't ignore others who play the same game purposely or inadvertently either.

Oberman is so slanted that he is in danger of sliding off the end of the world. But I'm sure that his darling Obama will be there to catch him.

I'm sure that will send a thrill up Chris Matthew's leg.

Olbermann has been chairman of the board of the Hate Hillary Club. If Obama is the nominee you may be regret that you got what you wished for. Do you think the Larry Sinclair lawsuit isn't going to be Swift Boated by the Reeps in the fall?
02:33 PM on 05/07/2008
Yeah, that'll be really sweet when Obama loses the general election, and all of the Hillary-bashers cry 96 tears.

But don't worry, I'm sure that they will blame Hillary for their own bad judgement. After all, they blame Hillary for everything else in their pathetic lives.

Keith sat tall in the political pundit chair last night and, now that he's got some street creds, we'll be seeing him in political coverage for some years to come. Whether he was doing "play-by-play" or "color commentary", he seemed quite comfortable and we'd have to suspect he's going to continue to be among the go-to guys for all political coverage on MSNBC for many years.

He's come a long way from ESPN.

Oops! guess she glass ceiling just cracked to pieces, she had a LG and transgender children community blog in NC involved in voter suppresion last couple of days, republicans crossover and Obama apparent NC win according to exit polls.

It doesn't matter, she's still going to pull the old scorched earth on the party. Obama will lose, and billary will be back in 4 years when president McCain retires. The truth hurts boys, but the writing is on the wall.

Who anointed you prophet??? If Hillary has any dignity and integrity she will bow out soon. I would like to think she has both. I know she has not shown either during this campaign, but I don't think she was calling the shots. I think because of her negative actions, she has helped to set women back instead of moving us forward.
