Pete Doherty Released From London Jail

LONDON — Pete Doherty was released from a London jail Tuesday after serving a partial sentence for breaking his probation.

The Babyshambles frontman had served 29 days of a 14-week sentence. It wasn't immediately clear why he was released early.

Doherty's drug use has frequently landed him in court. Last year, he pleaded guilty to possession of crack cocaine, heroin, ketamine and cannabis, as well as a variety of driving offenses.

His recent jail sentence came after the 28-year-old singer was reportedly late for several probation appointments.

Doherty is best known as the on-off boyfriend of model Kate Moss.

It's telling that none of the reports and comments on Doherty's drug problems mention his acne, his small stature and all-around lack of sex appeal. Yet these are the kinds of things that are often brought up regarding Amy Winehouse. That she is ugly and dog-like and even worse. I've noticed that posters and bloggers all over the web refer to her as "bitch" while I can't think of a time that any disparaging ad hominum attack is foisted at Doherty. Of course this is no reflection on Pete. He can't control the kindof garbage thrown at others. I wish the both of them well, as I do other addicts. I hope both of them live long, happy and creative lives without the drama that addiction brings.
