Politico:

Rev. Jeremiah Wright's appearance at the National Press Club last week definitely pushed him back into the spotlight. Last week he "generated more news than both Hillary Clinton and John McCain," according to a new study by the Project for Excellence in Journalism.

In the week of April 28 to May 4, Clinton appeared as a significant or dominant newsmaker in 41 percent of the campaign press, with McCain at just 14 percent. However the Wright/ Obama relationship alone factored into 42 percent of stories.

What's so incredibly funny and so alarmingly sad is that the Rev. Wright is a supporter of Sen. Clinton's. He has been since the beginning -- which, I'm sure in addition to the reverend's "fiery" speeches, is why he has not been a part of Obama's campaign. Wright has known the Clinton's (publicly) for about 10 years. He was invited by then-President Clinton to counsel the couple after the little "Lewinsky" incident, and he has been a strong advocate of the Clintons' ever since. For those of us who have taken the time to find this out, it was of no surprise when Wright made his harsh statements about Obama at the National Press Club and elsewhere, because we are aware of what the media aren't telling you. Wright has no problem saying anything negative about Obama, because he knows it will help his preferred candidate, Sen. Clinton. But, even as I type this, I'm certain you'll never find this out -- not from the mainstream media, at least -- because as soon as everyone is aware that Wright supports Clinton, a motive will be established, the public no longer will care, the issues will be forced to the front and center, and this race may end quickly. That would be a very bad thing for corporate media.

Did you even see the NAACP speech or the National Press Club session?

I did, and Rev. Wright did not say anything harsh about Barack Obama in ether of those speeches. The MSM have done and continue to do a premier hack-job on Rev. Wright's speeches by refusing to quote a single complete sentence he has said, just yammering that his speeches would hurt Barack Obama's campaign. And unfortunately it looks like that has worked even on you to some degree, since you yourself seem to accept out of hand that Rev. Wright said something against Barack Obama. That is in effect what Rev. Wright meant when he said that he was a preacher and Barack Obama was a politician (and there's nothing bad about being a politician, just a sleazy one); Barack Obama had no choice but to distance himself from Rev. Wright, as McHillary and the MSM are desparate to fuse them at the hip, and the only way to avoid that was to condemn Rev. Wright regardless of the facts, since the press will never report them.

ndoloma, I dislike Hillary tactics but please don't pin Rev. Wright on her. I would not wish it on my worst enemy. Even Hillary does not deserve what MSM has done to Obama in regards to Rev. Wright.

at a time when it's been revealed that the government has been engaging in torture, and planting military analysts to spread their propaganda, and the world faces a food shortage, the biggest news story is somehow about the song and dance performed by some old rev. what's not to love about the excellent job the media does of informing people about the truly critical issues and events of our world? where does one even begin? seriously, heckuva job guys!

Of course they did. They are trying to get ratings and put fear in people who forgot that Obama was black. I bet they don't forget it now! They probably said "Lets throw everything we have at that boy to get him out the race. Maybe he will run with is tail between his legs and never come back." I guess it didn't work....People believe whatever the media tells them. About Wright and everything else. Sad.

Is anyone surprised that the media would spend more time on Wright than real issues.
It shows how the corporate big wigs who own the media are scared that a young, black, charismatic man who wants to take Washington back from big business and return it to the people, scares the hell out of them.

What is really disgusting is the fact that none of the major networks covered the NYT story about how propaganda was used to sell us on the war. We have to get real news elsewhere now.

I knew it was bad, but 42% is not covering a story. It is trying to make a point. The facade of an honest media gets thinner every day, and yet people lap it up and buy into it.

most of this media coverage was caused by obama giving a news conference and disowning his black brother wright....something he said last month along with his typical white woman grandmother he said he would never do...so why isn't this a big story?

Question.

Let's say you offer to give me $500. But then you get fired from your job.

Giving me $500 takes on a whole new meaning, doesn't it.

Circumstances change. When Obama said he couldn't disown Wright, Wright had not gone in front of America to put words into Obama's mouth.

This, AFTER Obama gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Any other way you spin this is simply retarded.

i think all the original tapes of wright were played in front of the entire american public so your argument like your candidate is not up to snuff.....although your candidate is proficient at snuffing that white stuff.....

And???

Wright's comments and Obama's comments were legitimate news stories. As for the media "having an agenda," you bet your booties, they do. They have hand picked the three crappy candidates remaining in the race because of the great story . . . . a bi-racial man running as the "first Black candidate" with a chance of winning the nomination, a white, former First Lady with a chance of winning the nomination and a former POW war hero with a chance of winning the presidency. They have pushed Obama's candidacy from the get-go because they wanted a horse race and they have pushed McCain's because they like the alsoran wins big story. So yeah, they have an agenda. BTW, when you have a commentator on MSNBC doing hit pieces on Hillary Clinton both on his own show and on DailyKos . . . don't be complaining about the media having an agenda unless you're talking about the pro-Obama agenda.

Get over the Clinton hatred and start pushing for a Democratic win in November. EITHER of these two candidates is better than McCain.

You know nothing about me, cballen. As I've stated elsewhere, I will vote for either of the Democratic candidates, but support neither of them. As for your stupid and childish comment about me being an "inbred, bigotted piece of white trash," nope, none of those things apply. I don't vote based on skin color; totally insignificant to me. I vote based on experience, qualifications and competence. That doesn't seem to be the case with you . . . you can't see anything about Obama EXCEPT his color. Blackmailing voters by screaming racism when a person's experience and qualifications is questioned is not only overt racism, it's counter-productive. You, cballen are the racist and the bigot, not me.

My suggestion stands. Put aside your Clinton hatred and vote for whichever candidate is the Democratic nominee. Either of them is far superior to a McCain presidency.

Keith does not like pandering that is enough to make you vomit. And he tells it like he sees it. He has not contributed to media bias MzTexas. He is one of the few. Hillary has just made such a complete fool of herself, she would do anything to win. It is kind of sad.

I would not brag about being from Texas, either.

As for your comments, Meah. I am one of the original Olbermann groupies who was watching him before it was cool to watch him and watched him faithfully until January of this year. I have been unable to stomach the BS on his show since January. He has disgraced himself with his bias . . . blogging on Kos yesterday took the cake. Has nothing to do with any feelings I have toward Clinton, has to do with the inappropriateness of his blogging on Kos. Totally destroys any credibility he may have.

The comment regarding Texas, I'm assuming has to do with your wrong assumption that Mr. Bush is a Texan or that I voted for him. Neither assumption is true. Mr. Bush is not a Texan . . . we want him to go home . . . to the East Coast. I would have voted for Mickey Mouse before I EVER voted for him.

Amazing how wrong someone can be, huh?

My suggestion stands, put aside your Clinton hatred and vote for whichever candidate wins the nomination. We can't afford 4 more years of Bush . . . even if it is handed out by McCain.

I've had lying Presidents for the past three terms. I do not plan to vote for another one. As William Louis Dreyfus, a Clinton donor/supporters said when he switched to Obama:

"At the end of the day, all she had to do was open her mouth for me not to believe her,"

Or David Geffen, a former Clinton supporter and donor: “Everybody in politics lies, but they do it with such ease, it’s troubling.

The cable networks just can't let it go. Their hysterical and saturation coverage of Rev. Wright is disgraceful. They are mum on the Catholic-hating Rev. John Agee, whose endorsement was actively sought out by John McCain. So, the cable networks have double standards. White pastors associated with John McCain get a pass while black pastors are swiftboated. This is a shame that will not be forgotten long after the presidential race has ended.

Pretty much what I was going to say. If Rev. Wright was white, he'd undoubtedly be a regular commentator on the "news" networks, and his crazy statements would be given legitimacy just like those of Pat Robertson and the late and not lamented Jerry Falwell.

He strokes the biggest psychological fear of whites: that blacks will seek retribution. They are running Wright in the ground so when blacks point out the obvious racial undertones in their coverage, they can cry about the "race card" being played, when they are the ones doing it.

The Wright is has been talked to death and is officially dead. Even the Republicans know the issue has pretty much run it's course. Either people don't care or they'll use it as an excuse to vote against Obama - you know, because if you listen to someone and don't leave, you must agree with them.
