WASHINGTON — Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has lent her presidential campaign $6.4 million over the past month, a campaign aide says.

The money more than doubles Clinton's personal investment in her bid for the Democratic nomination. She gave her campaign $5 million earlier this year.

Clinton has been struggling financially behind the record fundraising of her Democratic rival, Barack Obama.

Obama has routinely outspent her in primary after primary. Clinton's campaign reported raising $10 million online after her victory April 22 in Pennsylvania. But Obama has shown little difficulty tapping his vast network of donors. He spent more than $7 million on advertising head of Tuesday's primaries in North Carolina and Indiana to her nearly $4 million.

Blacks4Barack Launches:

The HILLARY
"STEP DOWN
WITH GRACE"
CAMPAIGN

Following N. Carolina and Indiana, it has become obvious that there is absolutely no way Hillary Clinton can win the Democratic nomination. With 6 primaries remaining it is impossible for her to catch Obama in the delegate count, number of states won or even the popular vote, so the bottom line is she must face the fact that OBAMA HAS WON ! Hillary's staying in the race is extremely harmful to the Democratic Party.....therefore....
Contact the DNC to let
Howard Dean know that we
feel that Hillary should step
down in a respectful manner
since she is obvously not going
to win the nomination (without cheating....which will not be tolerated)

This would be the right gesture for her political future as well as the right gesture for the Democratic Party. Just Call The DNC at
(202)863-8000
.....respectfully request
the DNC to ask Hillary to step-down NOW ! Then it will be time to concentrate
on The Re-Birth Of America !

Before Iowa, most people thought that Clinton had a seriously vast war chest with which to pursue this nomination process. I just don't understand the degree of financial recklessness that could have made it even possible for Clinton to begin to lend herself money!

When you cannot even raise the sort of money needed to make you competitive, and you've lost by every reasonable metric to a relative newcomer like Clinton has, do you really need anyone to tell you it is time to fold the campaign?

Ok... she is hanging in there to recoup her losses. I guess, for Clinton, this must feel like a weekend in a Las Vegas Casino.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:12 AM on 05/08/2008

How can anyone let Hillary get away with calling Obama "elite" when she can casually "lend" her campaign a total of 11.4 million dollars?

For shame.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:35 PM on 05/07/2008

How can she get away with these repeated lies? Raising $10 million in 24 hours from tens of thousands of donors via the interent was obviously a lie, just like the Bosnian sniper fire. Some posters here at HuffPo pointed out that HRC's website did not even have enough traffic to the "donate now" page to support these claims.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:38 PM on 05/07/2008

Anyone who DID contribute via the internet should dispute the payment when their credit card invoice arrives.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:21 AM on 05/08/2008

hmmm, I am SURPRISED she doesn't have any money left from her 100,000 fictional donors the night following PA. Oh yeah, they NEVER donated, she was just pandering again.

Any event planners in upcoming states have got to be cringing... They know she has no money so they can't even ask for money upfront. They then are forced to do the catering, rent facilities, etc. and not no if they'll even get their bills paid. Bill and Hillary need to pay off the old debts across the country out of their own pocketbook already, not to mention pay for the bills they will be incurring as the race presses on. In the meantime, HRC continues to plead for money from the "regular" folks that she identifies with--"I'm one of you!" she says... Only if you happen to have $100 million to your name!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:53 PM on 05/07/2008

Well, she's committed 10 million of her own money! On the one hand you have to admire her she is willing to risk an awful lot of HER OWN MONEY. On the other hand you have to ask if she is completely crazy. Mathematically its impossible for her to win, so what gives? Has she totally bought into her own infallibility? Is she going through the same kind of delusion a gambler goes through after she's lost so much money, but has to come back to the tables for one last shot to "get her money back"? It really is a strange situation.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:22 PM on 05/07/2008

Astounding isn't it? What's wrong with these her lower-income supporters, who are either left in the dark or prefer to remain ignorant re. her vast wealth.. ?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:08 PM on 05/07/2008

What really gets me is how she wants to get these loans to herself paid back with interest. She acts like she & Bill couldn't make ends meet if they had to make due with only the remainder of their millions.

Talk about elitist!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:45 PM on 05/07/2008

I enjoy seeing how Hillary has been saying she is just like us regular folk. Now she lends her campaign $6.4 million on top of the $5 million she has already lent herself. You know like the regular folk would do. She wont raise money like that elitist Obama.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:24 PM on 05/07/2008

Don't worry/ She"ll just write a "rags to riches" biography and cash in on her simple roots.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:46 PM on 05/07/2008

I find it highly irresponsible of Hillary to keep spending money campaigning.

Unless she and Bill plan to foot the bill personally.

This talk about Hillary expecting Obama to pay her bills is disturbing. I didn't give money to Obama to support Hillary's fiscal irresponsibility.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:15 PM on 05/07/2008

Me either, but he will NEVER do it. This is crap she throwing out from NOWHERE!!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 09:20 PM on 05/07/2008

You don't have to worry about that. He's not allowed to give money he's raised for the primary to her. The suggestion that he should help her pay off her debt is predicated on the idea that he would go out and ask his supporters to donate some money to her for that purpose. So relax. No way is your money going to her unless you donate some to do so.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:17 PM on 05/07/2008

I sure hope you are correct on this issue!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:32 PM on 05/07/2008

Did Billary Clinton lie about the $10 million that´they received after the Penn win? What's going on? $16.4 down the drain in ? weeks. That's really sloppy for a President wanna be.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:06 PM on 05/07/2008

Her phony gaz tax proposal certainly shows a pattern about someone who is totally irresponsible about managing money.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 05:43 PM on 05/07/2008

If you are against the presumptive proposal that Senator Obama should pay off Hillary's debt for her to get out of the race, please send your comments to Senator Obama at this link.

YOu will probably have to copy and paste into your address bar, as oft times clicking on the links simply leads you to another HuffPo page that basically says no such thing.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 04:34 PM on 05/07/2008

I wonder if that 10 Million in 24 hours included her personal donation?!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 04:24 PM on 05/07/2008

Can't she go back to some of her donors with deep pockets?

Last night on MSNBC the pundits suggested that the Obama's and the Clinton's may meet to strike a deal, where "she" may drop out of the nomination race if the Obama campaign covered her campaign debt. I have never heard of such a thing, but it sure sounds like Washington politics to me. She ran a lousy, poorly managed campaign and she should take responsibility for it. I see no reason why the Obama camp should buy her out with his donors money, especially since her chances of taking the nomination are slim to none. I hope what I heard was just another example of mistaken punditry.

Isn't this kind of like Germany telling England in '45 "Hey we'll surrender but only if you pay for the costs we incurred developing the V-2!"

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 05:52 PM on 05/07/2008

If anyone gives another penny to Hillary they have to be stark raving crazy. Newsflash - your money will be going directly into Mark Penn's pockets, and he is the one who lost the nomination for you Hillary supporters. Why couldn't she just talk about what she wanted to do for America - HER STRONG POINT - After her gas tax proposal (she's still a Senator, think she's going to hop right on that?) I actually lost that piece of respect for her too. She's a wealthy lady. Bill is still pimping for Dubai etc. don't worry they will be able to fill up their tanks.

1. How the hell is Obama an elitist when he just paid off his syuudent loens 3 years ago. has Hillary EVER had student loans like 85% of the rest of college students/graduates?
2. Why is she saying that "if the Democrats had Republican rules, I'd already be the nominee"? Was she not aware of the Democratic rules from the beginning (including the exclusion of MI and FL)? Did she not sign forms and agree to the rules..yeah she did. She also didn't think she would have anyproblems "obliterating" the other candidates because we owe her!
3. What is with all this new math?
4. Why is she labeling Obama the bad guy for following rules they both agreed to.
5. If she screws Obama out of this nomination with the help of superdelegates, not only will the "small" states (who should be offended that she looks over them except for the night befire they vote), she will lose a large portion of core democratic support and those superdelegates that accompany her in corruption will not be re-elected. It will be a mass political suicide.

I replied to a Clinton supporter last night who was accusing one of the posters of being an Obama surrogate and "just making this up" when he said she was about to loan herself a big chunk of cash. The biggest problem with this gamble to keep up appearances is that unless she does amazingly well in organizing her supporters to vote in November for Obama, the Clinton brand name is going to lose a significant amount of value in the upcoming years, and raising that money back might not be as easy as it was after the 2000 Senate election. They may actually have to get jobs.

sit back and hold tight this how they get her out when they start digging into to money because now it joint effort hubby's bill is comming under scrunity when did that joint money come from .. fraud.. on the tails peter paul she better quit while she's ahead ... no matter how i felt about her i wanted her to come out like a lady not fighting and scratching .. we need to pray for this county and for obama i saw in her speech last night she was not finished just as rachael maddow said

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:54 PM on 05/07/2008

Well, there's still the Peter Paul thing too. The guy has carbons, copies of solicitations, his bank transcripts, and it all sure looks like the Clintons took a very big chunk of cash out of his pocket in 2000 and didn't report it. That one's not coming home to roost until the end of this year, though.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:18 PM on 05/07/2008

I don't know if the suit itself will actually go anywhere, but the depositions are what could bring information out that could be bad - that's where Bill got in so much trouble.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:51 PM on 05/07/2008

The Judge in the case ruled that Hillary will not be deposed until after NOVEMBER!! Somehow I wasn't surprised!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:42 PM on 05/07/2008

That judge is a Clinton appointee. He ought to recuse himself for what is clearly a conflict of interest. If he won't, he ought to be removed from the case.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:03 PM on 05/07/2008

I agree wholeheartedly. If the Clintons really have nothing to hide (I think they do) why not avoid the appearance of conflict of interest?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:32 PM on 05/07/2008

An additional 6.4 mill of her own money...... and who's the elitist?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:01 PM on 05/07/2008

The Dems need to ring her in... if she manages to steal the nomination I won't vote for her I would rather burn. Hell, I'll vote for McCain just to spite the spiteful.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:53 PM on 05/07/2008

There IS the Supreme Court issue there you have to factor in. The Court has about 5 moderate to slightly liberal members who really, really want to retire. If they do, though, the Republicans will force through activist right wing judges. And apparently the Democrats in Congress won't do a lot to stop it. Thankfully, the race has played out where that isn't so much of an issue at this point.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:21 PM on 05/07/2008

Clinton is doomed. Always was. She ignores the most important poll of all - the one that says nearly 60% of Americans do not feel she is honest or trustworthy. he office?

She isn't going to play well in a country where millions of formerly embittered divorcees and married couples immediately recognize the the spectacle unfolding in front of them - the shrill, siren sound of the perennial victim, the martyr-wife who refuses to acknowledge her failures and instead, diverts attention from her culpabil
