Wow. Explain this one. I wish politicians would start telling the truth. Whether Pelosi is saying this to let Clinton exit gracefully is beside the point. If she truly believes the race is "alive and well," then she has bad judgment. If she is saying this for strategic purposes, she is lying. A small lie, to be sure, but a lie. Why doesn't she give her REAL opinion or not comment? I'm sick of politicians.

Pelosi helps Clinton clean her hooves and sharpen her horns,

How do we rid ourselves and OUR party of these cancers?

No thanks to you Ms. Pelosi. As a member of the Democratic National Committe you did nothing to head off this debacle. You and your cohorts sat by thinking it would resolve it. You waited and waited and waited all the while the debacle taking on the snoball effect.

And for you to step before the public and announce in a manner befitting someone who did the right thing to resolve a bad situation that "the race is alive and well" just makes you look like the court jester.

Ex-IL State Senator Obama needs some vetting regarding his actions he took to get Alice Palmer off the state senate ballot.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-07040

If the vetting isn't done now, I'm sure it is on the GOPs things to do list for the General.

Alice Palmer supports Senator Obama for President.

I am an Obama supporter, but it took me all of 2 seconds to do a quick search and I found that Alice Palmer is a supporter of Hillary.

Please, folks, before you come here to offer an opinion or comment on an opinion, do your homework first. Otherwise it just makes you look like an ignorant fool

In this day and age of the internet (hey, you must know about the internet - you are here, aren't you?) there is no excuse for not doing fact checking before opening moutn and inserting foot.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:56 PM on 05/07/2008

Regardless, he still needs to deal with this now rather than later. I heard that Palmer was just stumping with Clinton in Indiana.

I apologize for not explaining. I did know Alice had campaigned for Hillary BUT the

word in Chicago is she will definitely support Obama if he is he nominee.

As far as how soon she will make her announcement, I haven't heard.

Alice will always support the Party.

Also she is not interested in having the past raked up because she was

caught with "phantom" names and addresses on her petitions. Fact.

I may no longer live on the southside but members of my family still do.

What they tell me about local pols and issues has always been very accurate.

Shouldn't you be posting items such as:

McCain and the Keating Five

His wife, Cindy, was the bookkeeper for the Keating Five. As the sandal unfolded

she could not produce the receipts the Feds demanded. She has admitted the stress

added to her drug usage.

Bush's War of Choice

The DEBT

The Loss of Jobs

The Lack of Heath Care

The New GI Bill which McCain refuses to support.

McCain's Flip Flopping

and on and on and on and on???????????????????????????????

SNAP OUT OF IT!

Can we stop saying vetting and start referring to it as muckraking? I don't think it's right to legitimize the antics.

And when people say Clinton has been "vetted" already it's not fooling anyone; she just happens to be running against a guy that wouldn't get much out of doing that to her.

Fortunately his way is winning and we might get to see a little less of this "vetting" in future elections.

Seems like Pelosi is flip flopping -- didn't she say just the opposite a few weeks ago?

There are only 3 weeks left to go -- how does this hurt Obama to let all the states vote.

It doesn't.

And that is why Pelosi is not flip flopping.

This is politics. It is subtle and complicated.

here is how she is going to win; 2 words; Florida and Michigan. Last i looked The United States of America's flag had 50 stars (states), not 48. they will be counted, one way or another! remember 45% of Hillary's supporters will not vote for Obama (I guess that makes us racist). i would like to see Obama win without this 45% and those two states. I am among that 45% and believe me, we are serious about it. feel free to try us. Also, don't forget you are our senator in CA, who when for Hillary by 9% or over 400,000. You let Obama steal the nomination (via caucusing), we will show you with our votes.

Last I looked nobody in America had a RIGHT to decide the nomination of a party's candidate.

Show me where it says that anyone has a RIGHT to participate in the nomination process?

It does not.

Think I'm wrong? Then why is it possible to block people not of a party from voting in that party's primary, as is common practice?

A political party has an ABSOLUTE right to to set the rules by which it's nomination process is run.

Including the schedule. Tell me I'm wrong or STFU.

And incidentally, that right was upheld by the fed court in Florida. I know because I live here

And FYI, FL Dems did not choose to break the rules - the Fl state legislature, which is dominated by Repubs., set and pushed through the earlier date and we Dems had to live with it. We did have a primary but few Dems bothered to vote in it because we knew it wouldn't count.. Basically, the whole mess is due to the Repubs trying to disenfranchise votes yet again. Gawd, I hate the FL state gov't!

In any case,, Obama had nothing to do with it. He didn't campaign here - although I and several friends received both robocalls and mailed propoganda from Georgia Clinton supporters. So, she did campaign here through the back door.

MI and FL have not yet held primaries.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:35 PM on 05/07/2008

It is truly unfortunate that no matter who gets nominated, the Michigan and Florida debacles will have seriously tainted the democratic primary.

I don't know whether Clinton will pull it off. But I wonder whether in the far back of her mind she is considering pulling a Lieberman after the primary. It she does and she fails, it will of course be political suicide. But perhaps if she doesn't get the presidency she doesn't care? It is, of course, a very remote possibility, but who knows?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:45 PM on 05/07/2008

And last I looked at the DNC rules and regulations, what FL and MI did broke the rules. What is so terribly hard to understand about such a simple sentence? WHAT?

Love this - ""Let me say this, the day I see that the actions taken by the presidential has an impact down ballot on my races for the House I'll let you know.""

That's the sign of someone committed to the American people/Democratic party.

Bravo, Nancy! Bravo.

After I read the article I just threw up my hands. I am sick and tired of these no-backbone Democrats. They have let the Repubs walk on them for the last 7 years. I can't believe Pelosi. I'm just thoroughly disgusted. What do the Clintons have on her? Did the letter from the Party big-wigs put more fear in her heart? Geezz!

We need to clean up the Demoratic Party from Rove-Democrats. If don't leave the party like Lieberman, WE NEED TO RECLAIM OUR PARTY. They are not up to the values that our party is built on....

I am taking about Ferraro, Polosi, Koch, Feinstein, Clinton, and etc.

YES WE CAN ... !!

Oh, for the love of God, man, pull it together.

Politics is complicated. People too simple minded or too lazy to work at it are called independents.

Don't be a whiner. Go read Machiavelli or some such.

Pelosi is great. She is doing the right and smart thing. She has tons of supers lined up to support the pledged delegate leader and she knows that will be Obama, and has had them for some time. Today she again did the right and smart thing by NOT pushing Hillary out of the race. Pushing her out and not allowing her a graceful exit will only antagonize her supporters and there is NO need to do that, and EVERY reason not to. Let things play out. Let everyone have their chance to vote and it will be over soon enough. And most importantly give Hillary supporters a chance to grieve and get used to what happened without shoving it down their throats. They have fought a long, hard fight along with her and they deserve at least that much. It's time to come together, not to gloat. We won, be good at it.

This is just messed up... let's continue the farce and let the competition in state like Kentucky where she will do well but the let's turn around and ask those voters to vote for Obama in the fall since we already know that we have a nominee.
A judge declared it unconstitutional for Michigan to have moved up its election... SO THIS ONE IS TROUBLE ALL THE WAY AROUND. The Florida and Michigan elections were completely tainted and the DNC will lose all credibility if it overturns its own decision about counting those elections. A 50/50 split on both states with not ability to change their votes when it comes to the presidential nominee is the only equitable and fair solution. It is insane to let this go on....

I wrote to my congressman and democratic senator today and asked them to endorse. I want to know where they stand. My state voted for Senator Obama overwhelmingly so if they want to support him there's no reason to wait. If they don't intend to support him... I want to know now because it will affect my relationship and my vote where they are concerned.

CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN!!

I think it has been agreed by dem leaders to allow HC a few "wins" to look good and give her the ability to get out on her own terms while saving a little face. I think Pelosi is in agreement that this is the way to go so is staying "neutral".
