Philadelphia Police Caught Beating Suspects (VIDEO)

A half-dozen police officers kicked and beat three men pulled from a car during a traffic stop as a TV helicopter taped the confrontation.

The video, shot by WTXF-TV, shows three police cars stopping a car Monday, two days after a city officer was shot to death responding to a bank robbery.

The tape shows about a dozen officers gathering around the vehicle. About a half-dozen officers hold two of the men on the ground. Both are kicked repeatedly, while one is seen being punched; one also appears to be struck with a baton.

The third man is also kicked and ends up on the ground.

"On the surface it certainly does not look good in terms of the amount of force that was used," Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said. "But we don't want to rush to judgment."

The PA police are notoriously vicious, i've never been there, but I've heard it for 20 years. Check out youtube for more. One of a fat cop bullying a 13 year old skateboarder. Isn't this where they wanted
some MOVE people, so they burned a block or more of city homes?

Get used to crime, when the jobs are everywhere but the US, homes are being repossessed, gas and food are higher than ever and still climbing....there are desperate, hungry people.

The three people arrested were fleeing a triple shooting, if anyone was paying attention. As Chris Rock once said in his 'How not to get your ass kicked by the police' sketch, if the police gotta come get you, they're bringing an ass-whupping with them. After losing one of their own, they were not taking any chances. Was the force excessive? Yes. Would most of us do the same to three suspected shooters fleeing a triple shooting? I'm not sure how I'd react. I bet if they had a helicopter recording the shooting and then the attempted escape, we might feel differently.

I understand, but that's why we have a justice system. these men are not guilty of anything yet and deserve the same protections within the law. what these cops did was just ensure these guys won't see a minute of jail time. good work.

Wow! I didn't realize I touched off a firestorm below. For those who think that they can judge me from one post, I want to tell them that they are mistaken.

Not all police beatings are justified...

but some are deserving-- this group may have just commited murder-- whether one chooses to believe it or not. We can't form a society where the police has to handle dangerous criminals with pink gloves, send them to a building with A/C, Cable TV, Cigarrettes, 3 tasty meals a day, and expect them to have fear of commiting a crime. The crime wave will not subside. The only thing that should be given to criminals are books(educational books). That and the lack of "smoke" would keep them out of prison-- Oversimplification, I know.

I can't possibly win people over with the little space I have to fully explain or define my position. I think it would make a lot of difference if the media starts showing whites getting beat as opposed to blacks only. Whites get beaten too we just don't see it because according to the media it lacks sensationalism and would not drive the ratings up.

Criminal who try to run away from police gets rough treatment no matter their color. You don't have to look far to see whites getting a beat down from the police.

Can you include your address next time as I believe that to be a crime and would like to turn up to administer a good kicking to you at some point in the future.
You live in a society where you have the largest incarcerated population on the planet so obviously your solutions (which as anyone with any contact with the judicial system will know does not in the main include "tasty meals" and attractive and commodious accommodation) are not working. It's not an oversimplification on your part it is of course plain wrong, proven wrong and yet you continue along that path and in fact go further to suggest beatings for people only suspected of committing crime.
As for your comments about White beatings and ratings well that just proves you have no understanding of how the media or ratings work either.

A full response to you is obviously not necessary. Let me tell you this, when I went to boot camp we ate half cooked rice with no salt and meat that was overly salty, green peas with no taste. I knew it was all part of the training and didn't complain nor could I.

My point is this, we can't keep giving the best of comforts to people in prison and expect them to be afraid of going back. Have you heard about making inmates(male) wear pink suits? Many say they don't ever want to return. Something along that line giving educational books as opposed to porn mags, cigarrettes and other things would go a long way to make prison a little less enjoyable.

I was driving down 6th street and a cop was talking to some buddy of his in the middle of the street for a few minutes blocking traffic. The philly cops will take just about anyone who wants to join as long as they live in the city. They are short handed because of this and draw mostly subpar recruits. If they let people who lived outside the city join up and serve some of the problems would be solved. I have seen so many illegal and unethical and cruel behavior by the Philadelphia police .
They steal money from people and threaten to put them in jail if they don't pay. I have personally had this happen. I have seen it happen over 10 times.
I have seen Philly police shoot people in the back, while standing against the wall.
I was doing research on the workings of inner city drug dealers and users and uncovered unbelievable criminality of the Philly police.
Philly cops often shoot unarmed, non-violent people and then are seen placing a gun next to the victim. When this happens dozens of times a year ,with hundreds of eye witnesses it becomes hard to ignore.
The public officials wonder why the people in Philly don't trust the police, this video shows why.
The police need to be roped in all over America.
The Police care more about themselves then about the people they are paid to protect.
There needs to be a powerful civilian over site board set up to oversee the police.
Police need to be punished for breaking the law like anyone else.
All of the police in this video need to be fired, have their pensions revoked and go to jail for assault.
To end Philly violence all drug laws need repealed and the cops need to be roped in hard.

Philly cops are notorious for falling down and "accidently" shooting a suspect in the back while on a foot chase. Not to mention rape and extortion, The boot cops are the worst, we have a special force of the most brutal ones that have high black NAZI type boots. A buddy was sleeping in his house and they came in a split his head, and roughed up his wife and kids. They had the wrong address and wrong family but still charged him with assulting an officer etc.

For every 1 beating caught on tape, 50 beatings go unreported or un-acted upon. This isn't news to black folks. This is just another case of police brutality. Hopefully this time it won't go unpunished.

I feel bad for the good cops, and there are plenty, I know some personally, and every time something like this happens, their jobs get harder.

Support your local police department, but also hold them accountable for their actions.

Just like Sean Bell... the guy in New York who was shot on his wedding day by police and they all got off. 50 shots fired... 50!!!

It's a shame when a few bad apples make the rest look bad.
