The king of the pundits, Mark Halperin, drops a tantalizing hint about General Wes Clark, a strong Clinton supporter and fellow Arkansan:

"The biggest question: Will any of her supporters (including Wes Clark) say publicly or privately she should quit?"

We like General Clark here at AMERICAblog, and have a bit of a history with him. In fact, we've heard that Clark did call Hillary tonight, telling her it's time to quit. Perhaps the general's most dangerous mission to date.

Here's the deal with Michigan and Florida:
1- Many people didn't vote because they thought it wasn't going to count. So if they had all voted, the results most likely would have been different.
2- Obama's name wasn't on the ballot in Michigan. Even taking that into account, she only got 55% of the vote.
3- No one was allowed to campaign in those states. She's a known quantity. It's proven that when he does campaign anywhere, he either wins it or comes very close.

Well I guess General Wesley Clark will be the next one sent packing because he told her the truth and it wasn't what she wanted to hear. Sound familiar? Early retirement of Generals over the past years has run rampant. How patriotic is a president who would thank a General for his service by allowing him to retire early because they did not present the facts that Bush wanted to hear? Creep!

As an Obama supporter I feel it would be a mistake to run with Hillary. As another poster said Hillary stands for everything that Obama opposes, which would taint his campaign. She is too divisive, and underhanded and those traits don't just dissappear.

Obama/Clark would be a mighty powerful ticket for November!

Obama/Clark "08" OR Obama/Clinton "08"!
Hillary Clinton would make a fine Vice President!

She has poisoned that well.

Obama won't offer, and she wouldn't accept if he did.

We don't need a repeat of Adams/Jefferson thank you! As Vice President to Adams, Jefferson all but ruined his reputation. Hillary would not accept the VP position so people should stop pushing it. Obama cannot bring change, turn the page, or stop the politics as usual in Washington with her on his ticket. She probably should have thought it through before she trashed him on everything she could. She plays nasty and I don't doubt that she will start the day after Obama is elected to plan her run for 2012 by using everything and everyone she can!

I think he should look to someone who supported him from the getgo! Biden would be one of my choices; Dodd; Richardson; all very qualified and definitely "vetted" as Hillary so proudly boasted of herself!

She would be a lightening rod for the Republicans even as the vp nominee. Plus, she wouldn't behave. Neither would Bill. It would turn into a another distracting Clinton circus.

First of all, I would not trust Hillary as VP, standing behind me or in my neighborhood. Although she is a woman, she thinks like a man. A politician man, which is very dangerous.
I think he should have Richardson as his VP.

Hillary is not a woman who happens to be a politician, she is a politician that happens to be a woman. I wanted a woman with the strengths and idealism of a woman...she is not that woman.

No way will Senator Obama want Clinton for VP! He wants CHANGE, not the same old crappy Clintonian BS. It has been bad enough to see fat bloated lying Bill sticking one foot after another into his lying piehole, while 'campaigning' for his wife. Enough of those two. No, Senator Obama didn't work this hard to pander to the stupid folk by putting the most devisive figure in American politics on his ticket. Anyway, I bet Michelle would go ballistic if she had to deal with Hillary in ANY capacity.

I have been appalled by Bill Clinton during this campaign, but I don't know how you describe him as fat and bloated? He is thinner than ever since his heart surgery and looks tired and old to me. Fat and bloated, NOT!

Ok people it’s time. Obama IS the presumptive nominee.

To the Obama supporters, let’s focus on what is important which is winning the White House and start undoing the eight miserable years of Bush. It’s time to dial back the anti-Clinton rhetoric and unify the Democratic party to defeat McCain. Let’s face it we need the Hillary supporters as much as they would have need us if she had won. Let’s be gracious winners.

To the Clinton supporters, it’s time to admit she cannot win the nomination. She fought long and hard but she fell short. There’s no shame in that. If you say you are going to sit out the election then you are helping to give the White House to McCain. That will result in another disastrous four years for the country. We as a country cannot afford that. I understand the anger and disappointment you feel but it is time to get past that. Please ask yourself do you really want another four years of Bush?

To all Democrats: Let’s start focusing on taking the country back from the Republicans. They have taken the country in the wrong direction and it’s time to turn it around. We have a great nominee and we should not have that much trouble defeating McCain. We are the ones who can beat us if we don’t get our act together.

Apparently the HuffPost doesn't want plainspoken posters, since they deleted my last reply. I'll rephrase it in more diplomatic terms so it won't be censored again.

You angels supporting Obama (including you, filo) certainly weren't very gracious until you thought the nomination was in the bag. If you honestly think that all us Hillary supporters are going to turn into Obama lapdogs on command, simply because you need us now, you're very much mistaken.

Have you forgotten what your leader said? We're bitter, we cling to our guns and our God and we're xenophobic. While I can't speak for everybody, I just don't think there's enough Dramamine in the world to enable me to vote for Obama, much less work for and financially support him like I did Hillary. Pity, that. Because it's not the man himself so much as the lot of you that turned me against voting for him. You'll have only yourselves to blame when McCain waltzes into the White House come November.

That's as diplomatic as I can make it, HuffPost. If you still think it's unsuitable for your bastion of all things decent, then by all means pull my posting privileges entirely. Quite frankly, the only plus point of Hillary possibly dropping out will be not having to read the HuffPost anymore.

You're still clinging to an Obama line that was taken out of context and abused by Hillary and others.

That is why your candidate lost: people are tired of dishonest politics.

If you support Clinton and she decides to support Obama what will you do? How about some loyalty?

I have been completely against seeing Hilary as President and have gotten passionate about my dislike for her and admitted and I could not hold my nose and vote for that woman. BUT, I take one look at McCain and what he represents for this country and I really have to ask myself, do I want my children growing up in a country that is continuing on the wrong path. So I DO your understand your feeling but I would I ask you please, think of their furture and where we really NEED to go.

So you oppose as candidate based on who votes for him? It's funny how people say they want peace and prosperity, then side with a person like Clinton, who fights just for the sake of fighting. She's the one who called attack politics the "fun" part. She's the one who set the tone of fight, fight, fight, using the politics of distraction and destruction. Obama may have "misspoke" about the bitterness, but he was essentially correct. Religion and guns do become the issues people vote on when people feel their true everyday needs are being ignored. But, really, you sound bitter.

So, let me get this straight.....

You won't vote for Obama, not because of the man, but because of his supporters?

And when you vote for McCain and he wins, it will be the fault of Obama supporters?

Anyone else having trouble following that "logic"?

If McCain wins, it will be the fault of those who voted for him. Are you really planning on joining his team? Sure sounds like it.

If you do, blame whoever you want for the third Bush term but that @#$% just ain't gonna flush.

I love General Clark and he was my candidate in 2004, however I have been less enamored of him of late, and he would redeem himself in my eyes if he were to tell Clinton she needs to give it up. That would show that he really cares about the Democratic Party and put an end to this acrimonious primary.

He was my candidate also in 04. Under the circumstances I think serious consideration has to be given to some of the VP candidates in the Clinton camp.

Come on...you're talking about a Clinton. The only one of that horrid family with any grace is Chelsea.
Perhaps for her daughter's sake, Clinton will realize she needs to get out before she totally embarrasses herself and people who in the past or still support her.

I don't care whether Sen. Clinton stays in the race or not. In a democracy, she keep running if she so chooses, until she actually loses, if she loses. What I do care about is how she campaigns. Is she only going to tell us why we should not vote for the other candidate? That may be part of the campaign, but, more importantly, she should tell us why we should vote for her.

The thing that I most care about is that someone, anyone, gets elected this November who will right the wrongs that the lunatic fringe of the political spectrum have inflicted upon this country, and upon the world. So, I will vote for whomever best fulfills that quality, of whatever party, sex, or race. Since Ron Paul will not be the Republican nominee, I see no other choice but to vote for a Democrat.

Love Webb but we need him in the Senate. Obama needs someone who has more years in Washington to counter the experience argument.

Let us hope somebody is trying to talk some sense into Senator Clinton. She's going to ruin her career if she keeps campaigning when she clearly has no hope of winning the nomination. She should have conceded after the Potomac primaries. It was quite clearly over then. Clinton staying in the race so long, and so unnecessarily has only created an immense amount of ill feeling.

yes but maybe the good side is that what ever was brought up, will be tired news by november when we deal with huge issues, like the war or the economy, all unfavorable to McCain
she might have helped after all!!
but she needs to quit NOW though, so we can unify and the money she uses is indeed a total waste of her donors money

By staying in the race months too long, Clinton has also wasted and squandered millions of donors' dollars which should have, and otherwise WOULD have, gone to other dem candidates "down ticket" across the country. If, god forbid, McCain wins, he should give her some kind of award - cause nobody has helped his campaign, in many ways, than Hillary.

I had to watch the Clinton speech twice to fully take in what was happening. Wesley does not have to tell Hillary that it is over, she and her family already know it s over. If you want confirmation of this watch Chelsea and Bill while she is speaking.

While I have previously been critical of her behaviour in this nomination process I must admit to being extremely impressed with her speech tonight. In fact I would go so far as to say that she deserves consideration for the VP spot, something I was dead against two weeks ago.

Think GENERAL ELECTION please.

The thing is, Obama's VP needs to help somehow.
She's polarizing, they're both from Illinois, and Dems don't need help in NY.

Besides, the Secret Service has enough to worry about. :)

I am very glad she appears not to be considering going Lieberman on us... that was always a possibility.

I couldn't disagree more. That would be a complete rope around his neck before the GE and after. Imagine having to put up with 2 VPs? Ugghh.

She's appealing to people's sympathy again and we know what happens when she does that...and once she gets it she goes into Darth Vader mode again and begins the Cybil act all over again. Uggh!

Don't fall for it!

Hillary in the VP slot?

Did you witness the Operation Chaos mess? Did you see how Limbaugh could energize people against her, people who think they are moral and patriotic, to do the most immoral and unpatriotic thing?

After witnessing her behavior toward Obama the past few weeks, do you think she can bring people together?

Hillary would be Obama's Achilles heel.
