Star Barbara

Update: Barbara's rep has responded to Star's war of words, telling UsMagazine.com, ""I will not dignify this with a comment. Barbara's written words say it all!"

Original Post: In her new book, Audition, Barbara Walters opens up about Star Jones, saying she lied to protect Star's secret about her gastric bypass and that Star became a bridezilla as her wedding to Al Reynolds approached.

"She was clinically obese," Barbara said of Star on Oprah yesterday (video below). "She could barely walk onto the set." But when Star chose to keep her gastric bypass operation secret, Barbara claimed "The View" co-hosts "had to then lie on the set everyday, because she said it was portion control and pilates."

Barbara also claimed that Star "wanted the biggest extravaganza wedding — she wanted to be a princess" and that she wanted to promote her wedding to get things paid for.

Today, in an exclusive statement to UsMagazine.com, Star Jones is hitting back, slamming Barbara as an adulteress in the "sunset of her life." Her full statement:

It is a sad day when an icon like Barbara Walters, in the sunset of her life, is reduced to publicly branding herself as an adulterer, humiliating an innocent family with accounts of her illicit affair and speaking negatively against me all for the sake of selling a book," Jones told Us. "It speaks to her true character."

Watch Barbara discuss Star on Oprah yesterday:

From ABC, 5/6

In the book, Barbara also comes out publicly for the first time about her 1970s affair with married Senator Edward Brooke.

Just about everyone in the MSM is slime. No big shock here.

I think the affair must be the only good thing in Barbara's book because she keeps bringing it up. Who cares who she slept with in the 70's. This is just to get you to rush out and by the book. As for Star she NEVER talked bad about Barbara when she left and I am sure she had plenty of stories to tell It's too bad she did not get the same respect..

I say to everyone getting off on this, "Judge not..." Barbara Walters has done some amazing things with her life and talent. I'm glad she wrote her book and am enjoying reading it for some insights into her life and the people she worked with. She gets to tell her truths because she has earned it. Remember they are her truths and HER story is part of her sacredness as all our stories are part of our sacredness as an old Native American woman once told me.

Gotta agree with Star. Never thought that would happen.

Babs kept quiet about Brooke--adultery/homewrecking-- until she could use thew info to make money. Then she sold him out.

And how about Brooke's ex-wife? Babs seems not to have shown her much compassion.

Barbara kept quiet about it until a Black Senator is running for President in a popular movement and now her high-society friends find it socially acceptable and so she finds it safe to use to sell her book.
This is what she wants to be remembered for? Does anyone watch her on The View? I get embarassed for her.

Star, you married someone with a dual side, so you can't call Barbara an adulterer.......

Since Jones had that surgery and can't gain too much weight anymore is her stomach having the reverse effect in that its sucking her face in until all we see is skeleton?

How many public personality clashes has Barbara had now? 50? 100?

It's an industry. What do you do for a living? Snipe.

Celebrities suck. Period.

Not that I'm a fan of Star Jones, but following the Jones, O'Donnell exit debacles from The View, and now Walters' adultery announcement, that Barbara W. is looking more and more like a wolf (or is perhaps it's a cougar) in sheep's clothing every day.

I I don't think Ms Jones is right on this one. An adulterer must be married by definition. I don't think Barbara Walters was married at the time of her relationship with Sen Brooke. He could be justifiably called an adulterer, but not the unmarried Barbara. If I'm wrong and barbara Walters was also married then the epithet is accurate.

Well, if not an adulteress, then a good old-fashioned homewrecker.

She says she got a nice note from Brooke, but did she let Brooke's ex-wife know she was gonna throw them both under the bus?

Whatta Gal, that Babs!

BW HAS NO SHAME .She could have mentioned the affair in her book but she did not have to name the person with whom she had the affair. She is just a home wrecker. This does not show her to have any decent character

Ok, she wasn't an adulterer. She was an immoral, dishonest woman having an affair with a married man, and is apparently as unconcerned today about the hurt she causes others than she was when she slept with another woman's husband.

And she certainly can't pretend she didn't know it was wrong, because she hid it for so long. The fact that she would be publicaly hurtful now about something she was privately hurtful about then, for the sake of selling books, is not a good reflection on her character.

Not an adulterer - a lying sleazebag.

Two scientists have opposing views concerning life outside the planet earth. One says to the other, "you say there must be extra-terrestial life because the countless billions of stars numericaly make it as good as impossible for only Earth to provide the conditions necesary for life to flourish. But I say to you, using your same logic, that that those same odds should suggest to us that if there is extra-terrestial life then some representitive of it should have visited us by now!" "Oh but someone has" the other scientist says to his startled colleage. "It calls its self Star Jones!"

Star that's not very nice. Nobody said anything when you married a gay man! They let you go right ahead and have your fantasy.

Now Walters' book was about her life, what is she doing putting Jones' dirty laundry out there? I am no Star Jones fan by any means but really!
It is school on Sunday for both of these "ladies".
No class.
