Star Barbara

Yesterday, a rep for Barbara Walters told UsMagazine.com that she wouldn't dignify Star Jones' comments about Walters with a response. Today, Barbara Walters takes that one step further, telling "Entertainment Tonight" that she prefers to not even know what Star said:

"I didn't see the statement. I have very good memories of Star and I'd like to keep it that way."

Star told UsMagazine.com that it was "a sad day when an icon like Barbara Walters, in the sunset of her life, is reduced to publicly branding herself as an adulterer, humiliating an innocent family with accounts of her illicit affair and speaking negatively against me all for the sake of selling a book."

Barbara announced in her book Audition and on Oprah yesterday that she was forced to lie to protect Star's secret gastric bypass surgery. To read Barbara's comments and watch the video of her discussing Star with Oprah, click here.

For more on Barbara and Star, tune in to "Entertainment Tonight" this evening.

Barbara is great. Her memoir is Honest, and her intentions are pure. Let he without sin cast the first stone. I mean, she practically stood up for Star on Oprah, while Star continues to act like it's wrong for someone to tell the truth.

She won't dignify it with a comment. She'll just write about it in her next book.

Mmmyeah, Babushka was "forced" to "lie" so as not to divulge to the public a private and confidential medical matter of a coworker.

So let me get this straight. Barbara Walters is bragging about being a home wrecker. Having an affair with a married man. I think she should resign, talk about a double standard, poor Elliot Spitzer.

I think people should do whatever they want in their private life, but I have a problem with our American hypocracy. Another person: not white, not rich, not female and not famous would be described by Americans as a whore.

Resign? Why should Ms. Walters resign? Is she in the government? Did she betray public trust? Did Bill Clinton resign?

This is her only fame , for a married man to use her for a while. She is going alzheimer.
If she ever accomplished anything it's all gone since she sits on the view. Now she is
pushing a book, and to do it, she doesn't talk about some of the interesting people of all times she had the good fortune to meet, but she paddles it by disclosing a nightstand with a married man. This tells us how she views society today. That this generation is not interested whether she interviewed the israeli prime minister and what he had to say, but that she was involved in a couple of
one night stands with a black married man. Give me a break. How tacky. I went with sports stars and celebrieties that are still alive today, but it would never cross my lips to no one. She is one tacky old woman.

How's this for a headline? Low life takes high road and I'll get to Dublin afore ye! Yeah I really despise Bawa almost as much as I dislike Barbara " Mother of chimp boy" Bush! Mrs. Bush; what a creepy looking slug. I wonder how senior got it up to get her pregnant, not once, but, three times. Dumbya senior, you sir are a heck of a man!

All Barbara Waters have done is confirm what I always thought of her. That she got were she is by being pretty, having connections and having sex with the right people. So the rich white me didn't want to share the power with women therefore they made her life hell. I'm not surprised that is how powerful men behaves, like mean bullies. Everyone talks about what she has done for the advancement for women and she often say how hard everyone made it for her, but she has no talent and her interviewing style is just blaaaa. I wonder if EH is loosing her mind with all this talk about affairs with married men. But her paycheck and fame is enough for the idiot to shut up and leave her soap box at home. Priceless.

Her book has me thinking. Barbara Walters has never been a "newswoman." She was a Today Show host, which is a happy-talk show with news segments. Like Katie, Walters was made an anchorwoman based on her morning popularity, and Harry Reasoner was wise enough to see the writing on the wall: the news was on its way out, being supplanted by happy-talk personality-oriented programming posing as news, exemplified by Barbara Walters. She made her name charming world leaders in interviews and making celebrities cry. All fluff and insignificance. Just like The View. There's no there there.

Babs is just like Katie Couric in the sense that all she was ever good at was interviewing folks about their recipe for down home raise-oatmeal cookies? Hey Babs, got milk? What a holier than thou piece of garbage BaBa is. P.S. I hope to watch you celebrate your 100th birthday next week!(sarcasm folks)

What happened to the same story that was here yesterday with nearly 200 negative reactions to Barbara? Did Huff-Po think they could do a quick edit and put it back out, and that suddenly all of Barbara's fans would show up and defend her? Her popularity is GONE.

*lol* The high road... is that what Huffpo calls it? I'm not surprised. It's only the high road if you refuse to ever comment on an argument, NOT if you start an argument and then refuse to comment further.

I remember as a young teen, I was assigned to do a paper on BW by my women's studies teacher. I had my wonderful aunt look it over before I turned it in and she laughed all the way through it as I called Walters inspiring. My aunt sat me down and asked why it was inspiring that a woman with a speech impediment and a pretty face had made it onto television just because she had made sure to have all the right boyfriends and a father with all the right connections.

I did a bit more research and learned a valuable lesson once I turned the paper in. If a teacher believes a subject is awe-inspiring, write a paper about how wonderful the subject is. My less than flattering paper on Walters gave me my first C.

Star has obvious issues and her words should be taken with a grain of salt...unless you're Star, what with diet restrictions and all.

Barbara has issues and she wrote about them and acknowledged them. She's a legend, a pioneer, and spoke frankly about her time with Star, who's career she started. That Star has nothing going on after leaving the View is her own fault.

Yes, but Bawa has a book to flog. I don't believe that writing about an affair 30 years ago is up there with being morally pure. Why reveal that now? Who is she trying to impress? I agree with Star.

In what alternate universe is Bawa a legend and a pioneer.I have more respect for a street walker than I could ever have for some c*nt who went down on everybody, man and woman, just to get a job. High road my ass!

Barbara Walters made it where she is today because she is white and because she slept around.
The so-called "high road" is not on her map.
How dare she talk badly about anyone -TRAMP

Right! Barbara Walters NEVER struck me as particularly intelligent or thought provoking in any of her interviews. Her accent and delivery just screamed of being a totally pretentious phony. Now it appears that she achieved a lot of her 'success' by just sleeping around. Glad Star Jones had the balls to tell it like it is!

As women we should be proud of her achievements. However, she did not get ahead because she was/is a good journalist. She had connections and used sex to further her career. Not a feminist icon I'm sure.

Star Jones is spot on. Barbara Walters is a low rent homewrecking adultress.Somethings should remain private and help busting up a marriage is one of them. Star by-pass was a matter she chose not to discuss and I admire her for that, what worked for her may not work for anyone else and who would want to be the poster girl for gastric by-pass.

She took the "high road" after she had travelled the low road. How dignified! Barbara is a real class act!
