White Voters

USA Today notices that Sen. Hillary Clinton has begun referring explicitly to her appeal among white voters while on the campaign trail:

Hillary Rodham Clinton vowed Wednesday to continue her quest for the Democratic nomination, arguing she would be the stronger nominee because she appeals to a wider coalition of voters -- including whites who have not supported Barack Obama in recent contests.

"I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on," she said in an interview with USA TODAY. As evidence, Clinton cited an Associated Press article "that found how Sen. Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."

This is the second time since Tuesday's primaries that the Clinton campaign has referred to the racial dimension of the voting electorate. Ben Smith reports from yesterday's conference call on the state of the race:

And Garin brags, specifically and explicitly, about her strength with the white vote, comparing North Carolina's white voters in North Carolina to those in Virginia. (The conversations have always been about these voters, but they're usually referred to as "blue collar" or by some less specifically racial euphemism.)

"We lost the white electorate in Virginia, started even in North Carolina among the white electorate just two weeks ago, and ended [with] a very significant win of 24 points among those voters," he said, acknowledging that among black voters, Clinton "did not do as well as we would want or need."

For a candidate who is ready to be Chief Commander on DAY ONE, doesn't Hillary understand that in order to build or have a broad base "winning coalition" she would have to get the Black votes to win against McCain??!!!! After all, the Black vote is how her husbnd Bill won the election(s). Therefore, I have to conclude that her remarks in this article is just playiing the race card to insite Whites not to vote for Obama! The fact of the matter is, her needs and Obama's needs are for all Americans to express their preference without regard to race!!!! Vote from the heart and not from the head (emotions).

Reverse psychology. Great. That's all we need to add with the other crap she's dishing out to us. I hope I never in life have to know anybody like Hillary again. Once is definitely enough.

Ok..now THIS is it.

Not W. Virginia results. Not Kentucky, Oregon, Montana results...It is over, right here, right now.
Talk about BITTER COMMENTS!

Hillary Clinton could not help herself but play the race card in her USA Today interview.

Yes, it is true, Obama is struggling with a sector of the electorate, but to have Cinton, who's candidacy is barely on life support, supporting it by noting that only SHE can win White working class votes, is the most clear cut self inflicted wound seen in recent months.

If she did not know what she was saying, she should have. If she knew what she was saying, then
she has just lost the respect she has worked so hard to find and keep in the last few contests.

No one is saying Obama does not need to find a way to connect with working class voters. He knows that. We all know that.

Clinton points out her singular access to the all White Boys club, which she disparaged when she was talking to the challenges of female candidacies. This is now her club.. A club to which only she can be a member. "Whites Only. No Colored". Sadly, many of us remember those mandates as being normal.

The ship of State has moved on to a better place, not a bitter place.
Hillary Clinton missed the boat.

of course the funny thing about all the hand wringing and hair tearing in the Obama Crowd is that Barack still hasn't been able to muster the 2025 delegates needed to claim the nomination. Plus, as th9ngs stand now, he won't be able to do even that without the help of the super delegates. LOL there apparently just isn't enough movement.... in the movement.

Ya, but Hillary couldn't pull it off either, with a surrogate who is a former President who had a 60% approval rating when he left office, with the whole Clinton machine behind her (Carville, Begala, Kiki, Lanny Davis, Penn, Wolfson, Stephanopoulos, Kantor, Ferraro (the doberman) some of the Foundation and library contributors, the ones in the party that owe them favors, etc. etc. etc.), and the Party who is grateful for the 8 years Clinton was President (even if he did lose the Congress during that time).

So, I kinda think Obama did PRETTY GOOD. I think he did GREAT! He'll get the nomination, and after all the above-mentioned pounding away at him for months, I think not only does he deserve it, he's earned it fair and square!

2025 pledged delegates would have won it fair and square. Needing the supers to come in a win it for him is no different then running to your big brother for help against the mean mean girl

You need to turn to CNN and watch John King or whatever his name is on that Delegate map because you haven't got a clue

Why do u think that everyone is telling Hillary to drop out? Well, because he is so close to that 2,025 and with the Supers' endorsing him and will continue to do so, he will get to the number

then the second Barack gets 2025, he's the nominee. Until then he's not. Until then all the crazy talk coming from Obama supporters is just that... crazy talk

that's Ok with me. What's not OK is after hearing my candidate take the beating she did from Obama supporters about her favoring seating the MI and FL, that suddenly these same people who were brow beating her about the rules seem to want to ignore those same rules. Until someone hits 2025, we don't have a winner.

There is nothing more pathetic than a sore looser. I have tried to have compassion for this woman, but she makes it impossible. They will have to drag her kicking and screaming. She does not seem to face reality. She is acting so unbalanced and delusional, its getting scary.

Sorry you're in denial AtomicSplash...it's practically over..this is the 4th quarter, and Obama has a significant lead..he has the ball..Hillary can steal the ball and score, but she can't win..she can't even tie the game because his lead is too big...she scores, her fans start to get up and leave the stands because they realize it's impossible to win. Now do you understand? or is this denial thing overwhelming you? I feel for you, but it's over dear.

Instead of mapping a way towards a gracious exit, Clinton continues to make divisive comments about race. The interesting thing is that when Obama addresses race it's in a way of bringing people toegether, when the Clinton campaign talks about race, it's divisive and disgusting.

If she continues to make comments like these in order to prove her electibility to the superdelagtes, not only will her comments prove an opposite effect, she will be lastly remebered as the Democratic presidential candidate who relied on the underbelly of racism to win votes. I don't think she's inherently a racist, but I do think that she's relying on people who don't feel comfortable with the possiblity of an African American president to solely vote for her.

You know whats gonna happen

This is gonna drag out to the general

and when Obama loses because he has to fight with her and cant focus on the general, the nation will blame her

Because she wont be the nominee, oh no ma'am. But she is like a pit bull who wont let go. This will drag out and hurt her. Mark my words, she will be to blame and she will never get a chance to run again.

Let's NOT be surprised by these statements from Hillary. This was her and Bill's strategy throughout their campaign. Hillary just thought it would be clever to allow her surrogates to spew. NOW that it didn't work in 47 states-----she's handling it herself. Hillary has screened the demograhics of WV and KY----and about to show her true colors.

How could she be so cold? Does she not have any feelings for the people she hurts and who have stood by her side for almost 20 years? For the people who would vote for a Clinton no matter what? And she throws it all away in fear of losing to a Black man.

How could she denigrade a whole group of people for another group she would throw under the bus also if she had a chance on winning. She has no feelings whatsoever. No heart. No compassion. She isn't human. My family loved The Clintons for years. And just like that, she threw it all away.

I will never forgive her and will never forget. I was the only one in my family who voted for Obama because I liked his character, the fact that he could be such a gentleman. I voted for him because I felt he was very nice and honest. But my family is so hurt because they loved the Clintons so damn much.

It hurts inside.

Clinton has now begun using her powerfully placed friends, both in and out of the media, to float the idea of her deserving the offer of the Vice Presidency. She will repeatedly deny this, but I know it to be so. Additionally, and most incredibly, she has insinuated that if Obama doesn't offer the post to her, she will drag out appeals to the delegate rules committee on any and all issues she can concoct and thus, drag down the Democratic convention. Meanwhile, personal friends of Hillary Clinton, like Ms. Hilary Rosen (see her Huffington Post blog today), are being platooned to get out there and placate us all as to Clinton's true intentions. Apparently, a stake in the heart is the only thing that's going to rid us of Clinton's toxicity.

The Clintons have alot of political clout, and favors are owed. You know it kind of makes me think of The Godfather. This is why Richardson was trashed all over the media. They tried to destroy his career with this, but unfortunately for them, Obama is winning and Richardson did the right thing.

The fact that the Superdelegates and the party in general are hesitating worries me though. I know they would never overturn the will of the people. How could they risk that? But I worry that you might know something that we all suspect. She will get that Presidency either by the front door or the back door, the back door being the Vice-presidency. It's almost scary. Obama must stand his ground and refuse to accept her as his VP. She certainly has given him plenty of justification. What he could do to placate her women voters and to appease the party is select Sebelius as his running mate. As a matter of fact someone suggested that this be leaked to the press and I think that's a fantastic strategy.

I hope that Hillary does not get her way by HOOK or by CROOK!

Funny thing: I almost want to say to the Clintons: Your chickens are coming home to roost! Karma, so sweet!

The media calls them low information voters. The color does not matter. Her base is made of these folks. Her calling them white alienates the low infos that are non-white.

All I can say is "What in the Hell is she doing?" It's so obvious, at this point, that this is over. So now, instead of acting in a graceful and dignified manner, she has decided to go out like a SUCKER! She and her husband have singlehandedly fractured the Democratic Party. They have used divisive language.(again)...I don't think anyone can dispute that fact....and in essence have said to the American people, for a second time, "Screw You" It's all about her. How sad!
No VP for her!

Despicable. Deplorable. Dana Milbank of the ashington Post said that by the time she gets to Kentucky her slogan's gonna be "Segregation No . Segregation Forever." And as Arkansas pols, don't dare to tell me she doesn't really mean this. Check this out to see her most recent campaign event:

Yes, it kind of does remind one of the Ayrian Supremacy obsession, doesn't it? However, Hillary's worse because she doesn't think they're superior, she thinks they're dumb and easy to manipulate. She on the other hand, is a different story, she's very superior, and after the race is over, she'll go back to the opinion that provoked her to say: "Screw 'em"

Hillary has a long memory when it comes to revenge.
