Actress and Calvin Klein spokeswoman Eva Mendes posed for a provocative photospread in the new issue of Vogue Italia. Mendes sucks toes, dons lingerie and leather and went topless for the shoot. Mendes recently bared all for PETA.

A little past the cycle on this, but I agree with you Maggie. I love women, naked women, beautiful women, smart women, so nudity is not a problem for me. IT IS A PROBLEM HERE.

Does HuffPo really need to go the London paper's page three route? I don't find these images in The Economist or The Nation, or Mother Jones, so why here, on a site that claims to be about serious issues? Is viewership lagging? Are ad revenues down and they've turned to the tired and true T&A lure? Or is the editor just a guy who thinks that this is how it's done?

If I want mindless titillation, and who doesn't sometimes, I know where to go. But in 2008 when we have the first Woman running for President who actually had a chance--lover her or hate her--these images and the schoolboy ohmygawd I want to taste her taco 5th grade mindset, just manages to objectify Woman kind yet again and diminish the efforts being made by them everywhere.

What I love most about it is that while these titillating poses of Eva are submissive, Eva's expression indicates she's receiving even more pleasure than those gazing at her.

Bravo, Italian Vogue -- I only wish the supremely misogynistic fashion stylists at the New York Times magazine would take a few cues from spreads like this.

BDSM fashion can still look plenty fresh, without resorting to blank-eyed waifs wearing christening dresses, accessorized by wire head cages and noose imagery (sadly, I am neither kidding, nor exaggerating -- NYT magazine has featured both).
