In Other News, There Was This Cyclone...
Is it me, or does the news of a massive, catastrophic cyclone in Myanmar with a staggering estimate of 100,000 dead, compounded by official ineptitude in permitting a relief effort, sort of seem to be getting short shrift on this safe, cyclone-free side of the world? (Just kidding about that cyclone-free part.) I know the campaign is important, but, well, sheesh. Here's a report from MSNBC from Ian Williams, who managed to get into Myanmar during the crisis back in the fall, and who called the scant aid trickling in a "drop in the ocean" to what's needed.
