CBS caught Senator Obama on Capitol Hill in a swarm of journalists today. CBS also reports that Speaker Pelosi jumped out of her weekly press briefing to greet the Senator. Read more below and watch video:

Sen. Barack Obama stepped into a swarm of superdelegates this morning when he visited the House of Representatives in the middle of a vote. Obama stayed on the floor for almost half an hour visiting with both Democrats and Republicans who looked completely star struck.

Even Speaker Nancy Pelosi left her weekly press briefing and made a beeline for the House floor to say hello. And the Capitol Hill press corps surrounded the House Chamber to catch him on his way out and fire questions about such an unusual move for a presidential candidate, even if he is a senator.

As long as Bill and Hillary are out there, I hope my man is wearing a flak vest...and he's as well as a dead man, if he put's on his ticket!

I saw a former Clinton insider on CNN Wednesday night. I think his last name was Gergin (sorry if i'm wrong) but they were discussing Clinton as VP and he said that Obama staffers would want him to hire "food tasters" if Hillary was his running mate.
LMAOOO I had knee surgery earlier that day and almost fell of off my crutches.

I am an Obama supporter, but...ok, these are fashion comments.

Every one of the adulating reporters depicted here was a man...all of 'em in early-60's style narrow-lapel jackets, short haircuts and narrow ties (sans the mid-80's irony). Michelle's haircut really is an update on Jackie's. Just above shoulder length with a flip curl, and bangs. She's tall thin and cool like Jackie, too. And then there was that photo essay, in black and white, shot just Jack and Bobby and...McNamara.

You know, if you've got the look, sure "capitolize" on it...but I have an uneasy feeling in my chest about the Black Camelot. We haven't had that spirit here since 1959. I do hope they go all the way, and I hope they learn from the mistakes of the abbreviated first Camelot and the Clinton faux Camelot.

The frustrating thing about the first two was that neither was able to deliver on the promise, the first through betrayal, and the second through...betrayal.

Maybe third time lucky. Obama 08.

This is the real world. There are two ways to go about it: one can attempt to do something enormous and maybe achieve something significant or one can not try at all. We have two candidates who have already promised not to try at all. Senator Obama is the one candidate who said that he will try and that he wants all of us to help change this country for the better. The alternative is four more years of shopping while our soldiers die for nothing in Iraq, the world's oil supplies burn up in our SUV engines and the world passes us by on climate change.

oh please! what is wrong with Americans? We finally get a President that has some style and class and we're all freaked out like the world is gonna end. In Europe you know the politicians are aloud to have style. What's with the sad-ass attitudes? Be grateful, maybe grow some style yourself instead of criticizing Obama for having it. Let the man strut, he's done something impressive. Don't worry, it won't go to his head. He's down to earth. Having a sense of style isn't a crime, in fact it's seriously relieving after W and Dick whose only style attributes were ignorance and evil. Take a deep breath and prepare to have a real leader. I know we're not used to it.

Uhhh....where do issues come in? What is this 'style master's' record that you should call him a 'leader'? A man who has sat in a church for over 20 years and didn't realize his 'pastor' screamed hatred towards America, whites and Jews cannot be too bright. A man who said derogatory words against small town people in front of an audience - who, in this world of technology - didn't have enough sense to realize that there just might be someone in the room with a tape recorder, a camera or a cellphone w/camera??? Or was he just too dumb to realize the words he spoke WERE offensive? Either way, Obama is NOT the right choice for president.

I can't wait until Obummer 'listens' to our enemies of the world....will he come away 'not realizing' what our enemies actually said? Will our enemies who say "we're going to blow you off the face of the earth", will Obama come away and not realize the depth of those words - just like he didn't 'hear' those words that Wright spoke?

Nancy Pelosi is the same thing Randi Rhodes called Hillary Clinton (then again, name me a Democratic or Republican politician who isn't). That reminds me; I donated some money to Cindy Sheehan the other day, and I think I should donate a few more bucks. We have to get Pelosi, one of the biggest Bush enablers, out of the Speaker's chair.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:44 PM on 05/08/2008

Nancy Pelosi is rotten to the core. What a mess she's enabled for our country.

FIRST thing out her mouth on the big day was that no one would impeach her precious leader ... even though we voted in Democratics to do exactly that.

She's an opportunist and a Bush enabler. A suck up to anyone in power or soon to be in power. That's all. Obama knows not to trust her I am sure.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:06 AM on 05/09/2008

Come on guys cut Nancy some slack, poor thing has been spitting into a windmill. Soon we'll have control of both houses and a President willing to work with the remaining republican devils.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:14 AM on 05/09/2008

Look at the chronology of this. You can hardly blame Pelosi or anyone who showed up in 2006 for the mess we face in the middle of 2008. No, this mess took a lot longer time to cook up and play out. If you must blame, try your best to be sensible and put it at the feet of its creators.

I understand that the Bush administration's "talk to the hand" ignorance of reality leaves so many of us with even more anger, and of course our patience is gone, but the timeline of all of this--by Constitutional design--doesn't allow a small majority to come in and play Crime Scene Cleanup quickly. Besides, if we throw these bums out, who do you suggest would be more productive and timely?

Impeachment should be off the table. Pelosi is right about that. Pursuing anything less than an airtight case against Bush would create a political civil war that could go on for decades. The United States is facing some incredibly difficult challenges at the moment, not the least of which is that the country is teetering on the brink of financial insolvency. If we don't all move on and pull together, we are sunk. Its not as emotionally satisfying as payback, but its the adult (and smart) thing to do if you look at the grand scheme of things.

If Pelosi had endorsed impeachment over whatever fuzzy charges we would bring, she would have been pandering. It would be politically expedient for her to do that, but it wouldn't be in the best interest of the nation. We hardly need another side show.

As for Cindy Sheehan, she would do well to direct her fury at the real culprits in all of this, the radical right. Democratic infighting doesn't serve anyone, as Hillary has clearly demonstrated.

The lines would be long to watch the Bush/Cheney crime family get their just due; I would pawn the silver to hop a ride to witness the frog march.

Pelosi and Reid made the right decision to take impeachment off the table. As incensed as I was at the time about it, it was very forward thinking. The majority is tenuous at best (Lieberman). Think about if we were in the midst of impeachment trials at present, during this election, and what the effects might be. The country is in dire straights financially, and oil is skyrocketing with no end in sight. Food prices are spiking, and people are rightfully scared about the future. I am glad that there is one strong and powerful presence in there with a true grasp of the issues at stake. Hillary should take notes.

The House is the largest pool of Super Delegates (over 1/4 of them) and they are ALL running for re-election. Ya don't suppose Barack stopped by just to remind everyone that his 1.5 million donor base can raise over 2 billion yet for him alone (and still be within the 2.3k limit) and/or even more for all the House members on the list he sends out in Sept. Ya don't suppose there's a price to pay for getting on that list?

I think Barry is using my $500 donation wisely.

ExRepublican,

Your bitterness says more about you than anything you could say about anyone else.

Obama has leadership qualities that are seen maybe once in a generation. Scoff at them all you want, but enough people have seen those qualities to have made Obama the Democratic nominee. Hold on to your hate if that's your thing, but many others see something else. Inspiration. We don't need your permission to feel inspired.

Now, somehow the thought of Hillary "groveling" while demanding to throw an election is fetching. Her campaign has been incompetent. Mark Penn thought she was a repub or that Dems play by the same rules had me on the floor laughing. She didn't even "vet" Mr Penn. Here's a little insight why she will win Puerto Rico by a landslide:

It's funny how the writer of this article accuses Republicans of being "star struck" around The Empty Suit, and all you HuffPosters lap it up. Actually, Obama is regarded as a weak candidate on the issues, which boil down to the fact that America is a capitalist nation that recoils at tax hikes and unfair entitlements for ne'er-do-wells. Obama is the most liberal candidate every along those lines, and he will be whipped like a mule for it during the general election period. Wait til he has debates against McCain and tries to deny while defending his Marxian beliefs. Maybe Keith Ulbermannnn can be a moderator and feed him softballs.

Unfair entitlements to ne'er do wells! I love it! In the era of rampant corporate welfare, where those who earn 90% of the wealth pay only 40% of the taxes, where corporations go off shore so they don't have to contribute anything to the economy that generates their wealth.

The Republicans are in trouble; they're weakened by nearly a decade of unleadership that betrayed their core values, and along comes a candidate on the other side that's pulling at their heartstrings, too. He's not a Maxist, he's a humanist. The country--Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Libertarians, Conservatives, Greens, etc.--will be lucky to have him as POTUS.

Bonnie Greer (playwright) voices what the racial divide is like in America:

Bonnie Greer {playwright and critic}

In 2008, America is still deeply racist. In many parts of the nation, there is still a deeply held belief that black people are not quite fully fledged and functioning human beings. And there are black people who will vote for anyone, as long as the person is black.

Forget about the African-American millionaires and billionaires; the movie stars; the rap artists. Think instead of the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, and mainly black people pleading for help with the American flag spread out on the ground beside them. Think of the sub-prime catastrophe, a scam that sucked in mainly black Americans unable to get credit in any normal way and desperate to have a part of the American dream.

In a country that believes in the Dream, many Americans are dreaming now that the young black man with the powerful voice and blinding charisma, the brilliant junior senator from my home state of Illinois, will somehow take them out of the morass of our history. Many Americans are dreaming that the young man who wants to lead them is somehow not black. This may sound retrograde, old-school and just plain wrong: Barack Obama is not perceived as "black". Not in the way that Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton or I am. And he knows it.

"And there are black people who will vote for anyone, as long as the person is black."

Correct. Think RACIST on their part. No? I mean, if 90+ % AA's vote for Barack, THAT in and of itself is racist. Right? Am I missing something?

Stick to the issues, no matter who you are for - Hillary, Obama or McCaint.

BTW, this country, our government and our people (yeah, the nutjobs who post on here, probably 98% of 'em), could give a sh*t who they suck into misery. It's not just blacks, give that b.s. up, we'll suck anyone/everyone dry (destroy them, financially or otherwise) if at all possible. Again, just read this website a couple times a week and get back to me?

Now, about the number 1 problem facing our country. Iraq? ewww, such painfully stupid questions, eh? Barack will do what? when?

To say that 90+% of African Americans voting for Barack Obama is racist is incorrect. The difference is this. It would be racist if those blacks were voting against McCain because he is white. However, when the first 43 Presidents of the United States of America were white males and for the first 100 years of this country the black race was enslaved and then considered 3/5ths of a human being and then hated so much so that they could not eat, drink, or piss in the same place as a white I think they might be permitted to VOTE FOR an African American with all the gusto in the world. I think it is racist when you VOTE AGAINST someone because of their skin color, which is obviously not the case with African Americans supporting Obama (also, blacks have voted in overwhelming numbers for white candidates in the past so I think it is clear that racist intentions do not drive that constituency's vote) . That being said, I want to make it very clear - so clear that noone here can call me a deluded Obamaton or a reverse race baiter - I still think people should vote on issues and should always vote FOR someone not AGAINST anyone. But for you, ExRepublican, to try and redefine the word "racist" and take it out of the historical context of this country is not only pathetic but academically wrong.

Check out the statistics.

88% of African American voted for John Kerry. A majority of Clinton's supporters are white women, and many white men like the millionaire who cares, John Edward.

Women, Africans-Americans, Asians, and Latinos have been voting for white men for almost a century, over a century for some members of this group. Stop whining because other people would like to be in office.
