CBS caught Senator Obama on Capitol Hill in a swarm of journalists today. CBS also reports that Speaker Pelosi jumped out of her weekly press briefing to greet the Senator. Read more below and watch video:

Sen. Barack Obama stepped into a swarm of superdelegates this morning when he visited the House of Representatives in the middle of a vote. Obama stayed on the floor for almost half an hour visiting with both Democrats and Republicans who looked completely star struck.

Even Speaker Nancy Pelosi left her weekly press briefing and made a beeline for the House floor to say hello. And the Capitol Hill press corps surrounded the House Chamber to catch him on his way out and fire questions about such an unusual move for a presidential candidate, even if he is a senator.

Lets just be honest here. The people who say over and over that Obama is just words just flat out refuse to look at his policies for the fear that they just might like them. They find any way they can to just not vote for him even if that means sending their children to wars and losing their homes and not having health care and paying 6 dollars a gallon for gas. They make up ALL kind of excuses not to support him. To the HILLARY SUPPORTERS that has got to be the stupidest thing that I ever heard of, that you'll vote for the DEATH of our Country and maybe you children rather then vote for Obama. Grow up to EVERY one that thinks that way. Just go to his website or listen to him when he speaks about the issues and you will find out that he his more solutions for issues then both Hillary and McBush.

No, you tell us. Exactly what are his policies / issues?

Be real specific. Hell, go on record............as have 3 other delusional nutjobs (that I know of) that will EAT their words.

Care to proceed? Remember, you have to be specific and objective.

The cost of our debt is one of the fastest growing expenses in the federal budget. This rising debt is a hidden domestic enemy, robbing our cities and states of critical investments in infrastructure like bridges, ports, and levees; robbing our families and our children of critical investments in education and health care reform; robbing our seniors of the retirement and health security they have counted on ... If Washington were serious about honest tax relief in this country, we'd see an effort to reduce our national debt by returning to responsible fiscal policies." - Barack Obama, Speech in the U.S. Senate, March 13, 2006
Senator Obama has been a leader in the Senate in pushing for a comprehensive national energy policy and has introduced a number of bills to get us closer to the goal of energy independence. By putting aside partisan battles, he has found common ground on CAFE, renewable fuels, and clean coal.
As president, Barack Obama will implement a 21st century economic agenda to help ensure that America can compete in a global economy, and ensure the middle class is thriving and growing. He will increase investments in infrastructure, energy independence, education, and research and development; modernize and simplify our tax code so it provides greater opportunity and relief to more Americans; and implement trade policies that benefit American workers and increase the export of American goods.

Candace Allen (author) explains what she sees in Obama. I really liked the way she put this. It says what I think:

For me, and for many I've worked with or spoken to, it's not so much the specifics of the man's programmes that have garnered our profound support. Obama is a very smart man who has spent much time specifically considering the challenges that afflict us: foreign policy, healthcare, education, social security. It is his willingness and proven ability to work with all parties to solve even the most intractable problems, his "naive" determination to speak with our enemies as well as our friends, with those who fervently disagree with him on domestic matters, as well as those who share his approach, that fuels our drive to make this happen. As the man says, "More light, less fight" - and thus an end to the intractable polarisation that has been blighting our political system for at least 20 years.

And, too, the consistency of his character, his refusal to shape-shift when so many "authorities" were saying he must for any chance at victory, fills my own soul with joy. Part of this consistency is his refusal to be cowed by those who proclaim hope to be naive, foolish and downright false. Obama's hope, our hope, isn't a passive thing but the strongest motivation for progress throughout our history and has inspired collective endeavour unknown in the US for a good deal more than 30 years, a movement in fact.

Dear Pertello, Good going!! There's a great blog called Diatribes of Jay you should catch. Lots of great info on our guy as well as the other candidates. Do you believe, as I do, unfortunately, that Obamas' campaign wouldn't be this successful if GWs' Admin. wasn't such a disaster? Would we have recognized the heart, the genius, the dedication of this man?

Nancy Pelosi did not want to witness the Code Pink action outside the U.S. House Cannon Building showing Pelosi and Dubya on a real bed fighting over the $160 something billion funding for the continuation of the occupation /"war". It would have made her feel uncomfortable, with good reason.

To all who have contributed financially, worked tirelessly, passionately, selflessly, and devotedly throughout this campaign to make this moment happen, I want to personally thank you. We did this together; black, white, hispanic, asian, young, old, rich, poor, gay, lesbian, democrats, republicans, independents, and all others alike. We have shown finally that we truly mean we are ready to change the country in which we live for a better place for our children. I am so honored and proud. Please, ALL join me and let's move forward and close this deal with an OBAMA SLAM DUNK!
This is better than anything I could have ever imagined. I truly have a wonderful feeling inside.

I guess it goes to show that no matter how one attempts to be positive, hopeful, and humbly just quit the argument and rally together for one common cause, there will always be elements of a negatively parasitic nature lurking about. Let it go. It's over. There is no more argument. Obama WILL BE the next POTUS...PERIOD. Hillary is done, McArtifact can't make it happen. No one wants another second, not to mention another 4 years of Bushism.

I just feel that Hillary Clinton has run her course. She's lost and she needs to tell her supporters to just stop supporting her and go home. I'm sure they'll all understand that they were all wrong to support her since she is a liar. If it were me I'd just give up on voting as a democrat for the rest of my life. If I were a Clinton democrat, well, I'd just quit. There's no place for them in the new Democratic party. Their votes are irrelevant.

A monumental victory. It has even given hope to his fellow congressmen that anything is possible even when the odds are stacked against you. A freshman senator that destroyed the Mighty Clinton Syndicate in what was supposed to have been a coronation for Hillary. She's confined to now selling woof tickets, playing the races, and being too stubborn to know when to go home. It's incredible.

Good for our country. Good for the world

Oh? Was Barry in the KKK too?

Harry Truman

In 1924, Harry Truman was a judge in Jackson County, Missouri, which includes Kansas City. Truman was up for reelection, and his friends Edgar Hinde and Spencer Salisbury advised him to join the Klan. The Klan was politically powerful in Jackson County, and two of Truman's opponents in the Democratic primary had Klan support. Truman refused at first but paid the Klan's $10 membership fee, and a meeting with a Klan officer was arranged
