The chorus from major news outlets saying Hillary Clinton's candidacy is almost impossible is growing louder as the Clintons continue to push on. The AP reports on the nine superdelegates Barack Obama picked up today. Clinton picked up one. This morning, ABC declared that according to their delegate tallies, Obama had won more superdelegate support than Clinton for the first time. This afternoon, AP's tally showed Obama within half a superdelegate of Clinton.

When asked about Clinton this morning on NBC and MSNBC, former Democratic contender John Edwards said, "it's very difficult to make the math work." Edwards has yet to make an endorsement.

Read excerpts from the various articles below:

AP
:

Barack Obama all but erased Hillary Rodham Clinton's once-imposing lead among national convention superdelegates on Friday and won fresh labor backing as elements of the Democratic Party began coalescing around the Illinois senator for the fall campaign.

ABC
:

ABC News' Karen Travers Reports: For the first time this campaign season, Barack Obama has surpassed Hillary Clinton's support among superdelegates, according to the ABC News delegate estimate.

John Edwards on NBC and MSNBC
:
The former presidential candidate told interviewers on NBC and MSNBC that Barack Obama will probably top the Democratic ticket this fall.

Hillary Clinton has said that she can still win the nomination - but "it's very difficult to make the math work," said Edwards.

I wonder....

Will John McCain select Dick Cheney as his running mate?

It would bet nice for Republicans to have at least ONE person on their ticket they really like.

And they could be sure of getting the 'Bush' third-term they so strangely yearn for.

Bravo Sen. Obama you ran the superior campaign !

It has been a cohesive, well organized, well planned and thought out campaign.

Sen. Obama has clearly demonstrated and proven his leadership abilities in this arena.

Sen. Obama has also clearly demonstrated and proven he can hold his own under fire and enormous pressure.

For the first time in 7+ years I feel truly optimistic.

To celebrate I will be helping in the voter registration tomorrow.

A couple of months back, PBS ran a night of three hour-long documentaries, one on each candidate. I was really amused looking at pictures of the crazy hairstyles of the 70s-80s Obama and Clinton... Then there was McCain. In like 50 years all his hair did was thin and turn white.

The race is over. Since Tuesday, around 15 superdelegates endorsed Obama. To put this in prospective, Hillary won 12 more delegates that Obama did in Pennsylvania. And the trend will continue as there's nothing in sight that can change all this.

Oh please, she has only loaned her campaign 11 million dollars. That isn't even 10% of the Clinton's net worth. Lest you forgot because of the work-a-day Sally routine, the "effete liberal elites" are the Clintons and they won't be taking any box lunches to work even with the hefty loan. I'm sure they will make it up with an advance on the new book--"It Takes A Village of Gullable Supporters To Destroy the First Viable Black Candidate."
You know what really gets me--the argument that she is more electable because of the white working class vote. Huh? What makes you more electable is winning 32 states and having 1865 delegates. It's really not that hard to follow. Trust me, if the tables were turned Hillary would have told Obama to get out after Pennsylvania.

Stopping Obama - Democrats for McCain

In my state (large, pivotal, and votes democratic in general elections), our initial numbers indicate the usual sizable built-in advantage a democratic candidate would have, can be eliminated if 6% of democratic voters switch to McCain or a larger percentage combination not voting and/or switching.

Preliminary data suggest more than enough voters who are women over 60, or are Latino can be moved into our camp. A higher (and significant) number of democratic blue-collar voters can be counted on NOT to vote at all, fewer blue collar voters would actually switch to McCain.

The estimates of required movement of voters takes into account the expected increase in AA and younger voter participation favoring Obama (based on percentage increases seen in the (open) democratic primary) .

It is absolutely certain that if my state goes red in the fall, McCain will be president. There is no workable strategy that will win the presidency for the democrats without it.

Democrats for McCain – let’s stop the rot and take back our party

I suggest that you fire the pollsters who generated the 'preliminary data', as they are about as competent as Mark Penn. You'll need more like a 25 - 30% 'defection' to make it happen, given the imbalance between the raw numbers of registered Republicans and Democrats. Ain't gonna happen.

We need him to name the state.

"It is absolutely certain if my state goes red in the fall..."

It's Howard Wolfson/Hillary Clinton talk. Just sound authoritative, and that way you don't have to provide any facts!

Two points, genius:

1. It's about likely voters, not registered voters

2. It's the desired shift in voting patterns (cross-over and non voting) of a segment of the DEMOCRATIC electorate.

A "democrat" voting for McCain because they didn't get their way is the most insanely immature thing that I have ever seen. I question that these people are even of voting age. They certainly don't take their country or their civic responsibility seriously. Or the lives of their draft-aged children and neighbors. Or the fate of the Supreme Court.

Obama needs a total of 160 delegates to clinch the nomination! Looks like he is going to win.

And looks like there would be a bitter lady out there who will try to move the goal post. I realize that she is saying whites won't vote for Obama because WV is mainly white and they are pro hilary.

They don't like McCain either so I guess that balances it out. The 2 losers in the WV primary will fight it out in November.

For Obama to drop out, there would have to be something more damaging than the Reverend Wright nonsense. I doubt it, Hillary would have probably played that card already. There is not much nefarious stuff on him though otherwise they would have played it. Yeah, the GOP is hoping there is more stuff because they want to run against Hillary. That is obvious. Rethugs call into liberal talk shows and act "liberal."

Well, it appears Hillary has lost the nomination and all signs point to a successful general election for Obama.

I certain hope so.

Then again, I was pretty sure Americans were over the malignancy of the Bush Administration in 2004.

And I was wrong.

So I should have learned never to be surprised at how far Americans are willing to debase themselves, so long as they pull the lever for the guise of 'morality'.

I'm an Obama Supporter too, but I agree, time to bury the hatchet (and to stretch that metaphor) How about we bury it deep in the GOP's hind side?

Hillary wants to see the GOP humiliated in the fall too and we all know that. After what they pulled when Bill was in office with the "Contract for America" and the impeachment Crap, I'm SURE she doesn't want them to have the satisfaction of being able to gloat that she made it easier for them to stay in power.

I know this is going to make me sound like a terrible person, but I thought I'd throw this out anyway.

Obama has trouble winning older voters. Clinton has trouble winning younger voters. Now if I'm a superdelegate, shouldn't the tie go to the candidate who gets the young voters? They are the future of the Democratic Party. Given the choice, wouldn't I rather piss off older voters than younger voters?
