The chorus from major news outlets saying Hillary Clinton's candidacy is almost impossible is growing louder as the Clintons continue to push on. The AP reports on the nine superdelegates Barack Obama picked up today. Clinton picked up one. This morning, ABC declared that according to their delegate tallies, Obama had won more superdelegate support than Clinton for the first time. This afternoon, AP's tally showed Obama within half a superdelegate of Clinton.

When asked about Clinton this morning on NBC and MSNBC, former Democratic contender John Edwards said, "it's very difficult to make the math work." Edwards has yet to make an endorsement.

Read excerpts from the various articles below:

AP
:

Barack Obama all but erased Hillary Rodham Clinton's once-imposing lead among national convention superdelegates on Friday and won fresh labor backing as elements of the Democratic Party began coalescing around the Illinois senator for the fall campaign.

ABC
:

ABC News' Karen Travers Reports: For the first time this campaign season, Barack Obama has surpassed Hillary Clinton's support among superdelegates, according to the ABC News delegate estimate.

John Edwards on NBC and MSNBC
:
The former presidential candidate told interviewers on NBC and MSNBC that Barack Obama will probably top the Democratic ticket this fall.

Hillary Clinton has said that she can still win the nomination - but "it's very difficult to make the math work," said Edwards.

If one wants to know what Senator Obama has done which might contribute to him making a good president, I would perhaps suggest going here for a brief read:

This headline and the general treatment of Senator Clinton by this "magazine" is really offensive to Clinton supporters. You know us white, middle income, middle aged women. The ones that will be swing voters. I am not so stupid to vote for McCain but Senator Clinton would have been the nominee if she had media support. But organized media--and this "magazine" is part of that--were against Senator Clinton early and I am just not feeling the love from Senator Obama's supporters. I know absolutely nothing about the Senator's abilities to change the world, universe, politics, etc. And wonder if he had all this know-how why he has yet to use any of it in the U.S. Senate.

So if I don't stop looking here I am never going to get in the mood to campaign for him.

God forbid you do the slightest research to find out what he has done in the Senate.

And as to Obama's ability to change the "universe?" Come on, be bitter about your candidate not winning all you want, but don't be stupid about it.

Here is a question I've never been able to get answered by a Clinton supporter: Please name one accomplishment Hillary had as Senator that is as important as the Lugar/Obama Nuclear Non-Proliferation Act. Just one.

Obama supporters want you....but you have to accept the fact that Hillary has run a very divisive campaign, which has been especially hurtful and offensive to black Democrats. A lot of repair work needs to be done, on both sides.

Well if you took the time to look, you would find that Obama was a force in the Senate for pushing legislation intended to get control of loose nuclear weapons that proliferate in the world. If you took the time to look, you would find that Obama was a major force in the Senate for pushing for the most extensive ethics reform in decades. Not a bad record for a junior Senator. Now what has Clinton done of any consequence in her two terms in the Senate. She voted for the war in Iraq and that was her undoing. Anything else? Anything where she was a leading force?

Does anyone else think Obama should go ahead and negotiate with Clinton over Florida and Michigan? It's the only card she has left in her hand. If he settles this issue with her, it will leave her with nothing left to say, and still no chance at the nomination.

She will get some delegates and so will he. They cannot enter the general leaving out MI and FL. You can count out those two states if that is the case.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:40 PM on 05/09/2008

She has already indicated that she wants Florida and Michigan to be seated according to the phony primary results, and will accept nothing else. I think Barack should just let her whine, and not even pay any attention to her. On May 31st, the situation will be resolved, probably to nobody's satisfaction, but it will be resolved.

As soon as it can't or won't be spun as 'revitalizing Clinton's chances' Obama will reach a deal on FL and MI. As long as Clinton can spin it as restarting her momentum it won't happen. so one of two things needs to occur. Either the delegate lead has to get large enough that it doesn't matter or Clinton officially drops out.

He has said that he will abide by the DNC ruling. It really is not Hillary's or Barack's place to make the decision or negotiate. They simply must approve or disaprove of the resolution. Meanwhile, Hillary has already rejected a MI proposal from the state because it doesn't give her all the delegates.

Two things (among others) which draw me toward an Obama presidency. Senator Obama inspires me, much like JFK and RFK did. And the fact that Obama is considered a very progressive Democrat by the Republican party.

I've been listening to callers to talk show hosts on Sirius Left today. Concerning the Clinton supporters, some of them are desperate, which makes me sad. One elderly man said we MUST have it go to the convention because what if the "rockstar" Obama were to get drunk at the convention or something and showed himself to be unsuitable to be our nominee, then Hillary would have to step in. He called Obama a rockstar over and over again. Another caller said that we need to wait and see if more "things" come out, that it's too early to decide. The host asked him if he meant that we should wait for Hillary to try to dig up more stuff about Obama. The caller said yes, we need to work on finding out more about him. This just can't stand like this. It's not right I tell you. Something could come up.

Is this the usual thing when someone's candidate drops out? Has this happened in past primaries, or is this a new phenomenon?

I honestly think it is a xenophobic reaction. Remember Bush brainwashed us all to fear brown men with funny foreign names, esp. ones named Hussein.

Now we have one running for president and there seems to be an interesting contingent of people who are simply deeply suspicious of him for no reason at all. This, IMO is the source of what you hear - they don't stop to wonder why they are suspicious - they just know they are so they literally ARE just waiting for the bombshell to drop.

They simply aren't clueing in that there is no bombshell. If there was, Clinton would have already used it.

They need to just think about it - I think it is a wonderful testament to America that so many people were able to get past the lizardbrain fear and see him for who he is, and judge him on his actions and not on his skin color.

Sure, there is a long way to go, but we are getting there.

Yes, this is new - never have seen it in an election before. And I have been following and voting in elections since 1968.
I'm one of those 'Old women" who doesn't (and never has) supported HRC. Been for OBAMA from the start. and proud of it. I guess I'd be "elite" but I don't like arugala. And, I could ) be part of HRC's "base' (57 year old white woman, but I'm too educated and I despise manipulation of our electoral system and I really really don't like liars. I guess I don't fit any demographic really. In my (loooong) experience, most folks don't ..

Anyway, I and my bevy of old lady friends are all feminists from way back. and we know that any woman with a brain and a conscience could not possibly vote for a misogynist like "call my wife a c**T, vote against a bill protecting equa pay, anti-women's choicel McCain. So all I can think is that those "old women" for HRC who will vote for McCain if Obama gets the nomination, are either not "old" enough to have any sense (or any children whose futures they care about)
Grateful for the mobiization of younger folks that Obama has inspired hismessage of hope and change. You are the generation some of us have been waiting for. Oh, and could you lay off the old lady cracks, please. There a lot of us on the Obama team.

LOL OBama predicted all of this in his Iowa speech "the chorus of scenics will grow louder and louder" So let me get this straight the canidate that has been getting their clocked cleaned by the freshman Senator from IL is somehow the weaker canidate. This argument may work with Hillary;s low-tech and emotional base but the majority of Americans and clearly the super-delegates are not buying this notion.

You guys are clinging to Hillary's campaign because you guys are BITTER that Hillary has ran a horrible divisive nasty campaign. Her campaign has hoodwinked you into thinking this race has been closer than it really has been for months. This thing has been over Since Barack swept the Potomac primaries.

I understand the disapointment Hillary supporters feel, its kinda like when your parents tell you there is no such thing as Santa Clause. Some of you have loss your since of reality. I find it curious that Hillary supporters point to the 90% of black voters voting for Barack when more of us white voters have supported his caimpaign. One voting block does not define Barack's Movement we are one voice. Join our Movement and you will be embraced also as part of the most impressive political machine ever assembled. Barack delivers the message but WE THE PEOPLE carry him.

I agree. This whole "electability" thing is just putting the cart before the horse. You become electable because people vote for you, not the other way around. If Obama got more votes, then he's the most electable. Period.

Once in a blue moon I agree with Tucker Carlson, but today he compared Hillary to a marathon runner. Obama and Hillary have been campaigning for 17 months. Thats a long time, and like any other marathon runner when the race is over they don't just stop running. They slow down and eventually they walk it off. thats what Hillary is doing, walking it off.

For Obama it's another marathon.
