To all you divisive morans who will stay home, if your dem isn't nominated, consider this;

Come out to vote, don't vote for the other dem, if you're so inclined, hell, even vote for McCain if you're that stupid, but more importantly, vote for the democratic senator and congress person on the ballot.

Because at the end of the day, any presidential threat of a veto can be over ridden if there are enough senators, house members on your side. Regardless who is president.

"To all you divisive morans who will stay home" Please, please, please, if you're going to call people names, at least learn how to spell them. I see this one over and over and it's always from someone calling someone else stupid. It's morons not morans.

Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Howard Dean, Al Gore, Jimmy Carter, Barbara Boxer, Mary Landrieu, James Clyburn, Rahm Emmanuel, Jimmy Carter, and Mario Cuomo need to hold a joint news conference in which they each announce that they are endorsing Barack Obama.
It's time for Hillary to go gentle into that good night.
In the words of Franz Kafka and Marvin Gaye, Hillary has got to "Give it Up"
The undeclared superdelegates must act now to end Hillary's kamikaze mission to destroy Obama.
Hillary wants McCain to win, so that she can run in 2012.
Hillary has run a dirty campaign based on fear-mongering and race-baiting. Hillary must cease and desist her slash and burn, scorched earth campaign immediately.

Here is the game plan, and the strategy protects the Congressional superdelegates. They have NO REAL state on the other side of Pennsylvania Avenue if they hold the cards politically on Capitol Hill. They all know that Hillary and Bill are out for REVENGE and DESTRUCTION to run in 2012. Why do you think that Gore and Kerry, the last two nominees, detest the Clintons? Passive aggressively as good pols, to be sure ...LOL.

That is why the SD do not say anything......they are concerned ONLY about their OWN incumbency.

Hillary Clinton is finished after this. There will be no 2012 or 2014 for her. She's poisoned the well for herself. This is her final moments on the big stage and she'll have to be dragged off. The clintons will try to do as much damage as possible and play incent in the process, but as big movers and shakers in the Democratic Party after this? Its over for them.

I think they should decide, for anyone of them, just decide. This can be just another thing the repubs can use against them in the general, especially those elected delegates in close races.

"senator so-and-so, or congressman so-and-so , knowing they were a super-delegate, with the sole purpose of breaking a deadlock in their own party, and they couldn't even step up to the plate to make that decision, how can we trust them to make even tougher choices with regards to...(choose your point here...terror, economy, immigration, etc...)"

TocinoHumano,
I guess you have never heard of actions speak louder than words, huh? Seeing that you don't understand nuance, Hillary Clinton's behavior leads the rational, logical person to “conclude" that. It's called deductive reasoning. But, again she does attract the under-educated (snark, yes I went there) , so we are not surprised by your non ability to deduce her motives from her behavior.

It's called, cutting your losses. She'll hope to run in 2012.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:32 AM on 05/09/2008

There's nothing stupid about it. It's the best she can hope for. Any candidate who has shamelessly divided the Democratic party the way she has would have no qualms about pinning her hopes on a defeat of the same party in an election. The T-1000 never gives up. It's all about her.

Maybe they're waiting until May 20 (or June 3) so Hill's supporters can't delude themselves into believing the nomination was stolen from her by misogynistic good ol' boys. That's a good idea, I think.

Senator Barack Obama is the Democratic Presidential presumptive Nominee
Senator John McCain is the Republican Presidential presumptive Nominee

Let this blog continue to reflect it. It is my intention to positively discuss the General Election phase and see her role in the Primary for what it is. Regardless of her absence, there will be all the primary states heard from - just like McCain.

If this woman and her husband refuse to surrender in May or June, then it will be incumbent upon all party leaders to declare him the presumptive nominee. If she bolts, or goes back on her word and her truth (vomit) , then it will be clear that the interests of People, Party and Patrimony does not exist beyond their ambition for a third and fourth term in the WH and OO.

I think many of the supers are trying to be cautious for the good of the party and not for themselves. They need to make sure they do not alienate the Clinton supporters during this process. And Clinton needs to accept she has lost (not publicly but in her head) and stop saying stupid things to the press. She needs to gradually back down so her supporters don't feel betrayed. The party is divided and needs to come back together to win in a general election. This is allot more delicate situation than some people realize. The primaries were very heated and many people feel very strongly where they stand.

Hillary has poisoned the well with her supporters and she is the only one who can undo the damage. I am afraid that her monumental ego isn't going to allow her to do that. I heard on TV last night that she may try to force Obama to offer her the VP slot, using her supporters as the bargaining chip.

That would make political sense and it's happened before. The hugely successful Reagan/Bush ticket of 1980 arose from an effort to unite the GOP after a particularly ugly primary season.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:58 AM on 05/09/2008

This will be good news for Republicans. They have been uncertain whether they should gear up for a racist campaign or a misogynist campaign. Now they know which vein of hatred to tap into with their base--racism it is! Keep your heads down--this is going to be a really nasty, ugly campaign; probably the worst ever. Nobody does racism like the GOP! Remember Ronald Reagan in Philadelphia, Mississippi in 1980? Remember Willie Horton? Remember Jocelyn Elders and Lani Guinier? Remember just about every Rush Limbaugh broadcast in history? These people KNOW how to activate their rather sizable racist base.

Good luck, Senator Obama!

I agree. I think if they start a race baiting campaign, it is going to slap back at them. As evidenced by how little Wright affected Obama's popularity, I think that a majority of Americans are past the racial divide and they are not going to respond well to race being used as a campaign tactic.

the thing is that many Americans do not remember Ronald Regan in 1980. It is a new millennium and America has changed.
Barack Obama won a majority of voters of all races in Indiana and North Carolina that were under 65.

I think it's mean-spirited of the Clintons to deny him the victory lap.

He's earned it.

Postponing it is denying it: he'll BE the nominee, but any congratulations will be muted, because the race is still officially ongoing.

I just watched an angry exchange between a voter and Bill Clinton. It's on this same ABC site.

Bill Clinton is now attacking actual voters.

The former President of the United States is debating a middle aged woman who came to one of his events, and losing.

I believe the purpose of the supers is to resolve issues like we are now facing. The fact that so many are biding their time, making personal political calculations is not to the benefit of the process. They should declare and we should all move on. Why have ultimate "deciders" if they are not going to decide? Lets move on to McCain, and wish Hillary well in her travels.

I think the Democratic party needs to reevaluate its primary rules. This debacle should be a one-time thing and if they cannot learn from it and apply some discipline, they deserve to have elections stolen from them.

Get rid of superdelegates altogether. Why should any person get more than one vote?

Enforce the rules and don't set a bad example by letting MI and FL off the hook.

If attention is paid to the popular vote, the caucuses must be included in that tally.

These were the DNC rules that the much touted Clinton presidency won with; so what makes Mrs. Clinton so special that these same rules should be changed for her? I read an article somewhere that stated the obvious; the game can be played both ways. When she started with about 150 super delegates more than Senator Obama, it was all good, so now that he has gained the lead, it should still be all good. What's good for the gander certainly is good for the goose.
