Sharpton

New York Daily News:

In an interview on NY1's "Inside City Hall," the Rev. Al Sharpton says Hillary Clinton should drop out of the Democratic presidential race.

"There is no possible scenario that I see without the total destruction of the Democratic Party for Hillary Clinton to become the nominee," Sharpton tells NY1 political anchor Dominic Carter.

"As you know, I've been in the ministry of civil rights all my life, but had dealings with entertainers because of James Brown. The worst thing in the world is when an entertainer doesn't know when the show is over. The audience is gone, the lights are down, you're getting ready to cut the mics off and you are still on the stage singing. It's over, it's all right, it's over. Come sing another day, but this show is over Senator Clinton."

I love the analogy

"The audience is gone, the lights are down, you're getting ready to cut the mics off and you are still on the stage singing."

No, more like the party is still in full swing with Obama on the stage. The Clintons have been ushered out the back door and are outside standing on the sidewalk alone, completely deserted by thier fickle supporters. Hillary is crying, Bill is clutching his chest, Chelsae's on her cell calling a taxi. It's over, and it's a fantasy. Instead imagine Hillary leaving and taking half the party with her! Wow! What a concept! And Obama loses in November.

Your second scenario is probably closer to the truth. Certainly if his supporters keep up with their nastiness, it's bound to happen. We'll just bide our time for four years and try again.

For once I agree with Pat Buchanan...he called the Supers "GUTLESS WONDERS" on Morning Joe...

At least Rev. Sharpton knows the truth when he sees it and has the balls to stand for something and not fall for anything.

Please don't take offense, but I think you overrate Sharpton terribly. I was in Freedom Summer '65 with MLK's people, worked for civil rights in the deep South and carried my liberal card every day of my life, but I don't know why anyone ever listens to this guy. He's been a horrible net negative for every kind of justice and hope. sorry. Maybe the Rush Limbaughs of the world necessitate the Al Sharptons, but I sure had better hopes. By the way, where WAS he in the 60's?

Sharpton has had a so-called checkered past, but you cannot deny the fact that he has been a voice against injustice for over 20 years. I wouldn't call him a net negative, when most times he's the only one fighting and bringing light to injustices

Sharpton was a teenage kid in the 60s, but he did have limited contact with Jesse Jackson and Dr. King at the time. You must REALLY be a "dumb dad".

No, I think YOU UNDERrate Sharpton terribly. You also expose your unfortunate willingness to express an opinion without the benefit of knowlege or reason. "Where was he in the 60's?" you ask. Well in 1965 he was no more than 11 years old, while he was somewhat of a child prodigy (preaching his first sermon at age 4) and involving himself in community activities as a youth "in the 60's", he shouldn't be REQUIRED to spend his adolescent or teen years doing any more than any other 11 year old or teen. He's far from a net negative. That is the media, and apparently your smear. Quite the contrary, he is an extremely positive force in the community.

Sometimes I think most Obaminations have lost their ability to think for themselves and have a herd mentally. For example, when the Edwards refused to endorse Obama, they attacked him like rattlesnakes spewing their venom. When they thought Edwards might endorse him, they sent open letters to Elizabeth imploring her to convince her husband to endorse Obama...........they didn't even ask Elizabeth how she was feeling or send her best wishes for her. It all reminds me of the days from 2000 when the Freepers acted as a herd to criticize anything that was not pro-Bush. I wonder where those Freepers went? it looks like thy might have taken their disappointed arses over to support the new Messiah, Saint Obama

Rev, Sharpton has come a long way from Tawana Brawley, but not that far. He and 100s of his supporters were arrested for civil disobedience this last Friday for trying to shut down the streets of NYC. He needs to do things like that, reasonable or not, to keep the blacks incensed by their treatment, and he would be leading the riots in the streets, if Hillary wins the nomination.

I have gained a new respect for Rev. Sharpton, because he is actually the 'real' straight talker.

Especially, when talking to the Corporate News, it may be a dirty job but someone needs to do it, so we can get some 'real' news. Instead of propaganda.

Say what you will about Rev. Sharpton, he does know what he's talking about. We need people like him to call attention to the BS in this country. Without it many of you wouldn't have known about the hate crimes and racial animus over the last 15 years. And he's dead on about Hillary.

BTW, Bill CLinton is the Democratic Party leader, the most popular Democrat in the world and the former President....Hillary is his former 1st Lady............He should be respected for his leadership and role in the Democratic party, but you Abaminations spew disrespt and venom at both of them and Chelsea.

Have you no shame? Have you no decency?

Obamabots would probably be with Sharpton's riots in the streets, that you all have threatened if Hillary wins the nomination

If the Obama campaign should implode before the convention- what makes Hillary think we want her?
Hillary has burned too many bridges. If a freak event occurred to make Obama not viable then there would be a huge Draft Gore campaign.

It's over Hillary --all the race baiting, whisper campaigns, cheap politcal gimmicks and baseless threats have not paid off. Throughout this drawn out primary all Hillary has done is really raised her own negatives and damaged herself more that Obama. It's pathetic to see them hang on like ruthless power addicts,. Bill and Hill get into rehab!

Yeah! You go girl! Hill and Bill need to take a hike and take their voters with them. Obama doesn't need roughly half of the voting democrats, he'll get all the votes he needs from republicans.

This is all MSM and Obama surrogate propaganda....oh and yes, Obama supporter comments on HuffPost. Actually it was Obama surrogates who used race baiting including Rev. Wright's Dec 07 sermon when he said "Hillary doesn't know what it is to be called a N****r." At the gave this sermon, Hillary's black support was over 67%, and it was imperative they pry that support away from her. That sermon was recorded and available to black churches all over the country. Then when Hillary won NH, which was a polled as a landslide for Obama, Jessie Jackson Jr. went on TV the next morning and said, "I wouldn't put any stock in Hillary's tears. She didn't cry for the victims of Katrina." How race baiting is that. Then before the SC primary neutral Rep. Clyburn came out and accused Bill Clinton of using the race card, and he reared his neutral head before NC to make those charges again. He now has come out before the rest of the primaries to again make charges against the Clintons with, I fear the Clintons are causing an irreparable split in the black support of the Democratic Party. Neutral my arse! As far as baseless threats, the Obama supporter's and MSM have promoted that blacks would riot in the streets if they perceive the nomination was stolen from him (he hasn't won it yet), and they threaten blacks will not vote.

That's called "foresight".

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:32 AM on 05/09/2008

No, that is when the Obama Campaign and the MSM started to try to force Hillary out of the race.........my theory is that the knew they would have to do something not to disenfranchise voters of Florida and Michigan; after all, both would be extremely important in the GE. If they could get HIllary to withdraw the problem would be solved. Meanwhile they could skew the subsequent primaries to favor Obama with a false sense
of Obama momentum, delegate and popular vote lead. Once they got what they thought was an insurmountable Obama lead they could count Michigan and Florida... once it wouldn't impact the election. Unfortunately Hillary is not going to quit until it is over, and rightly so. Those Hillary voters in exit polls that say they will not vote for Obama (about 50%), many of them, like me, who feel like the nomination has been stolen from her by accusations of race baiting and manipulation of the primary by not allowing a re-vote in Michigan and Florida. We are as dedicated to her as his supporters are to him; only difference is we are not threatening to riot is the streets, but remember the grey panthers!
Nothing is so bad as a woman scorned!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:50 AM on 05/09/2008

That's the problem... there is nothing to talk about. No personality worth mentioning, no political program illuminating the way ahead, just a bunch of unfinished business from the past, feelings of hate, desperation.... all negatives and she can't find a single positive in herself.

Once again Al, you almost got the point. She knows it's over. She won't be happy until she's ruined Obama's electability in the G.E. (or thinks she has anyway). Like ALWAYS Al, you missed the crucial dynamic. It's not logic that holds Hillary in place. It's rage and ego. She's pissed off that an upstart has come from seemingly no where to take the Presidency which she feels entitled to inherit in her dreams of political dynasty. Hell hath no fury and all that.

She knows the ride for President is over. She just can't integrate it into her world view that most people simply don't like her because she is a liar and as disingenuous as any Republican. She wants PERSONAL POWER.

She doesn't give a damn about the electorate. And if she continues down the path of sabotage, she doesn't realize that she's cutting her own throat for ever holding any office higher in rank than Senator. She almost has it right. Just like you, Al. Now I look forward to both of you being marginalized again.

Of course she gives a damn about the electorate. many of us are still supporting her. she just won Indiana, in Obama's back yard and is set to win WVA and KY. i know you all forget but it was Obama who said that Indiana would the tie-breaker. So, he lost the tie-breaker.

Obama may have won NC by a large margin, but his winning margin across the nation is not a landslide.

Obama won CT, HRC's backyard on Super Tuesday; by 4.1 percent . The IN margin was so close, 1.2 percent, that the delegates spilt is even.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/democratic_vote_count.html

Regarding the tie breaker, PA, NC, IN, over the tri state area, not the primary election.

You have every right to continue to support HRC, I respect your passion and loyalty.

I have been laughing my a** off the last couple of days listening to Rev. Al's and Warren Ballentine's talk radio shows. They have been, along with their buddies, begging the Clinton supporters to "get on the bandwagon" and support Obama. They have also had every other powerful black politician and political pundit on, doing the same thing. Pleading, cajoling and predicting dire straits if we don't. This, coming from the very same people who have been calling the Clintons every name in the book and making their talk shows Clinton bashing 24/7. Reminds me of Chimpy when he was determined to invade Iraq, denigrated the U.N. as irrelevant, and then stood there, hat in hand two years later, begging for their support. Sorry folks. That boat has sailed and many, many of us Clinton supporters ain't on it.

You Clinton supporters do what must but I tell you as a fomerly registered Republican who switched parties for Obama....I don't agree with all his policies but I agree with his core message that our politics is cheap and corrupt and needs fundamental change. That is why so many of us moderate Republicans and Independents support him. This entire primary season he never fought dirty even when people were engaging in personal smears against him - propagating lies about his religion, spreading insinuations related to his teen indiscretions etc. The race card was played by the Clintons - Obama would have never surfaced that b/c he did not want to be seen as a black candidate - as the Jesse Jaksons and Al Sharptons will tell you, that stance is a real loser for getting elected - Obama wanted to be seen as a candidate who happened to be black.

He has been decent and honorable and if for the sake of sour grapes, you Hillary dems don't vote for him in Nov at this crirical time in this country's history, it seems a very sad and cheap way for you to dampen your disappointment.

I guess so, but if you want to label me just call me a supporter of Hill and Bill. The party really hasn't done anything for me. Reid and Pelosi and Dean? They mean nothing to me. Obama means nothing to me. If I can't have what I want, why should I give you what you want? You say I should put my country 1st but I just cannot up and switch my allegiance and substitute my values as effortlessly as you might wish me to. I am no longer influenced by the propgandists shell game. I'm not interested in the saviour who pops out of thin air and promises to change everything. I don't believe it's possible or even desirable. I want competent adminsitration. Leadership? This country is divided into the folks who have and the folks who do not, we will never have a united nation under a single leader. Never.
