ABC News:

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is facing enormous pressure from social conservatives to ignore his repeated commitment to change the GOP's platform on abortion.

"If he were to change the party platform [to recognize exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother], I think that would be political suicide," Tony Perkins, the president of the conservative Family Research Council, told ABC News. "I think he would be aborting his own campaign because that is such a critical issue to so many Republican voters and the Republican brand is already in trouble."

A senior Republican close to McCain told ABC News that building a more inclusive G.O.P. is a top priority for the Arizona senator.

But this adviser does not see changing the party platform to include exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother as necessary for achieving that vision.

No politician and no supreme court judge or anybody else has the right to tell a woman whether or not she should or can terminate her own pregnancy. How dare they even talk about such a private issue. It's disgusting.

From the article:

'Tony Perkins, the president of the conservative Family Research Council, to ABC News: "I think he (McCain) would be aborting his own campaign because that is such a critical issue to so many Republican voters and the Republican brand is already in trouble."'

The Republican party has been able to remain viable only through fraud and disinformation, with full propaganda support from the Corporate Media. It must be awful having to constantly make excuses for this poor excuse for a party.

Thank you John McCain!!

As a woman you want to rape our rights to enjoy equal pay for equal work and now you want to take our rights away to control our own bodies!

I'm sure that you are going to beable to attract a lot of woman or independent voters with that rhetoric. There is one thing about woman , we are not STUPID. Clinton supporters will go through their process of coming to terms with their candidate not winning and then they will support Obama. Supporting McCain is supporting Bush and all his war mongling buddies. Supporting McCain means that you will take responsiblity for all the lives that will continue to be lost in this senseless war.

That McCain would embrace the insane and inhumane policies which would effectively make women second class citizens in their own country speaks to his utter depravity.

Forced birth is the most barbaric method of controlling women by limiting the amount of health services they can receive. It is a form of torture.

I totally agree. What gives men the right to tell us what to do with our bodies? Then again McCain did vote for the Torture bill recently and he did vote against the GI BILL . He flips on so many issues I can't keep track of him.

Disgusting !

You know, the belief that women are somehow inferior if they are pregnant is a lot more sexist than not allowing them to get an abortion.

What don't understand is how seniors are always claiming that they worry for our future, but where is that concern now? When we need them the most? So I'm calling out all seniors (that are on this site) sit down and look at what's facing the future what could be a serious problem for your grand children, then look at what candidate best fits the needs of your grandchildren (And don't look at race), then vote! Remember you had your glory days, let us (18-45) have ours!

McCain is dirt. Someone should tell the "senior republican close to McCain."

No "moderate" would take this position. His taking a hard line on abortion situations where compassion and common-sense are clearly called for. will alienate nearly an entire nation of women voters.

With this understanding of McCain's policies - there are no conditions - ever - under which I would vote for this man. This is an absolute deal-breaker. And I believe many women feel the same way.

I am actually begging you to engage and shout out from the mountain tops. please. Knowledge and Information are our greatest weapon. I can't believe even the most "reasonable" conservatives would support this madness.

After Roe v. Wade is overturned, each state will have a say on abortion and what will be allowed.

It's about time.

The men that can't get pregnany in each state will decide whats right for women

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:26 PM on 05/10/2008

And the nifty part of this whole thing will be laws that say any woman caught going to a state that allows this will be charged with murder.

Ok, so at what point has McCain said everything? So far he has pandered to every group and hit both sides of every issue. When the General starts is he going to pander to every moderate group too? Not to mention that all his promises so far have costs totaling hundreds of billions at the same time promising to cut taxes on everyone....

Clinton supporters. Expect this man to be your president if you choose to stay home or vote for him instead of Obama. Who are you hurting by doing that? No one but yourself.

Check out Bill Clinton stating that you should vote for Obama instead of his wife. It's interesting how tactics change from campaign to campaign. http://skaneatelesdesign.com?p=378

To flip flop you have to have an opnion or philosophy to begin with. McCain doesn't and never has. It is another example of his genius in duping the press.
