Obama Rally

Today, May 10, marks the first day of what the Obama campaign is calling its "Vote For Change" project. From barackobama.com:

On May 10th, Barack Obama is launching Vote for Change, an unprecedented 50-state voter registration and mobilization drive. More than 100 events will be held across the country that day. Obama volunteers will register new voters as the start of a six-month voter registration drive.

Marc Ambinder has more on just what this project entails and its potential impact:
The Vote For Change program will lay the foundation for Obama's general election get-out-the-vote efforts. Obama aides won't say much more, but I gather that the campaign is constructing an incredibly elaborate online interface to allow its more than a million donors and volunteers to directly persuade their neighbors through a variety of media. Names gathered from the voter registration effort will be merged with names gathered through Obama's primary efforts and the names off of the Democratic Party's integrated voter file as well as lists purchased from outside vendors.

On election day, Obama might have more than a million individuals volunteering on his behalf. That should scare the beejeesus out of the McCain campaign and the RNC.

Hillary just on CNN says Anna Jarvis lent our country an act of love (mother's day) ... what Hillary may have forgotten it was said that Anna Jarvis ... after founding mother's day ... stated that she wished she had never done that because the day had become sooo commericalized!!

Hillary is soooo passe

That is amazing! Obama has already changed our country for the better. Because of all of his grassroots efforts, more citizens are involved in the political process than ever before. He is force to be reckoned with.

I wondered what happened to the youth .. they're back and their kickin' butt!! I have no clue as to how hillary thinks she can stop progress ... they all say that they "work" so hard for the future of our country ... well the future is here and demanding to go forward with the best ideas and with a better view! It's Obama's time, his season .. he is youth, wisdom personafied ... a person said to me that her mom wouldn't know utube from a test tube ... ha ... we've got to grow and go forward. Obama has forward looking intelligence ... it's time to past the torche!

I hope he has 24 million new voters because that's how many you will throw out with Hillary. Without those votes he hasn't a snowball's chance in hell. McCain projected the winner by 25 million votes! Thanks Obama. Thanks for being another loser. maybe they'll let him run the DNC like they did that other loser Dean.

Yes, and this is my favorite part:
***Obama holds a commanding lead in the number of pledged delegates awarded from primaries and caucuses: 1,592 to Clinton's 1,424.
Following a flurry of new endorsements over the past few days, he trails Clinton by just one in the race for superdelegates.
At the beginning of the year, Clinton led the superdelegate race by more than 100.***

Cnn must have reported this with clenched teeth, they have been so pro-Hillary for so long!

yeppers! Obama has had to share split screens with hillary, bill, chelsey and mccain. Hillary has gotten soooo much free media. Obama has had to pay. hillary has mismanaged her contribution budget terribly yet Obama is the only one paying!

How dare hillary beg for additional contributions from the public?

I haven't seen it. CNN and MSNBC and even Fox News is for Obama. It's like a setup. He falls flat on his face and of course they'll blame Hillary. Will Obama give up his senate seat before the election? I think he should, as a sign of his confidence that he'll win. Don't you think that would be a positive thing for him to do?

I love it that Obama is still seen by most people as being sincere and capable, in spite of the best efforts of the media and opposing campaigns to define him otherwise. I watched some CNN political coverage today, and their formula was to play videos of Obama and then have the antis get in the last word in real time to spin what he said with a split screen background of Obama talking but with no sound. Obama's camp did not have the same opportunity, from what I saw. It was slanted coverage and presentation.
Three times during the hour I was there, CNN gave one anti-Obama pundit time on the air time to make points. Certainly, anti-Obama propaganda will become deafening as time goes on. Thankfully, we have a candidate who is up to this fight and people will continue to come out to vote for him in record numbers.
I feel encouraged when I remember the election of Vincente Fox in Mexico over the PRI candidate. The PRI controlled all the media and had a huge patronage-driven organization, yet it lost. That was because the majority of Mexican voters, by that time, understood that the existing political machine had to be stopped. Although things are far from perfect in Mexico, the Mexicans took a huge step in the right direction by overthrowing the 70-year status quo of one-party rule there by the PRI.
We can take our own country back this year.

Exactly. As Obama said, it will not be easy! With all the free media time hillary got and and yet getting i wonder why she's so broke? Obama is sweezed between hillary, bill and chelsey... Obama is the only one paying!! It was most amazing how the media held the fact that hillary had loaned herself MORE $$$. How did they not know that and report it ... when she lent herself the first $$$, the media approached her on the stump and she responded to their question "did you lend yourself $$$" It's obvious that they knew when this second loan. Coming out of PA her camp stated she had gotten ten million overnight via the internet - what happened to that cash and why didn't they go to that same source where she reported that additional loan to herself and report that to the american people ... how dare hillary beg for contributions??

It ain't gonna be easy as Obama says ... but, YES WE CAN!!

All I have to say is that I LAUGHED at PA when she said she broke all Primary fundraising efforts raising over 10 million in 24 hours after the primary. I called her a liar than and I still assert that this was a piece of fiction!!! NO WAY did she really get 100,000 people to donate on average $100 in 24 hours!!

NO WAY

The site makes reference to an A & P grocery list. There is an interesting aspect to A & P. In 1979, it was sold to a German entrepreneur who shortly thereafter "restructured" its employee pension plan, making $400 million in the process. The company served as an excellent example of "free enterprise." Even some of the A & P executives attempted to block the company's bankruptcy thorough legal means. They claimed that the "over funded" pension plan belonged to the employees. Unfortunately, the "entrepreneurs" got their slimy hands on the "over funded" employee pension money.

How much longer are citizens of the USA and the world going to humbly accept this brutal "free enterprise" and Wall Street / Washington DC crap? Look at your situation over time. Follow the money! Remember! Look at the boards of directors. Look at our powerful oligarchs and families. Sui Bono?

The other half was going to go to Dem candidates but

Californians Would Switch Clinton Vote For Obama

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) ― California voters would change their February primary vote for Hillary Clinton to a vote for Barack Obama if the vote were held again, according to an exclusive poll commissioned by CBS 5.

While voters in the California Democratic Presidential Primary backed Clinton by a 10-point margin, a new SurveyUSA poll shows that if given the chance to vote again, Californians would choose Barack Obama by a 6-point margin, 49%-43%.

The poll was conducted on May 7 and 8 and has a margin of error of 4%.

Yes, I'm a Los Angeleno and I attended the Vote for Change event and many said the same thing.

Her whole big state premise was foolhardy anyway. Also, this primary season has merely revealed the demographics of each state and the power of the Clinton brand name and machine.

This is interesting, because I recall that just a few days before the California primary, someone on CNN said that the early voting there was in very high numbers, that many of them had gone for Hillary, and that many of those who had may well have gone for Obama had they voted at a later time, rather than early.
That sounds a bit muddled, I know, but you will get the point. I hope.

Society's sense of "opportunity" had rapidly evaporated, and desperate reaction to the "system" is setting in. Obama has presented an alternative rooted in a social force that neither Clinton nor McCain have really understood or do battle against.

Poking fun at the candidates is now about all that remains to be simmered and enjoyed around this democratic exercise.

OBAMA, A SOCIAL PHENOMENON

The millions who have felt disenfranchised and disconnected are looking for any return of “hope for opportunity” are probably surprising even Obama with overwhelming support in unusual numbers.

No, going2ireland, we don't have to align with Obama in everything we say and think. It's not OUR responsibility to be diplomatic, it's his as our next potus. He takes the high road and we respect and support him for this reason. Besides, this is what the blogs and forums are intended for; so we can vent and say what we think.

So please stop trying to dictate what we should and shouldn't say. I think calling her a witch for instance is accurate, she is a witch.

Now that Ohio's have finally finished counting the provisional ballots, the official numbers look like this:

Clinton: 1,259,620 (53.49%)
Obama: 1,055,769 (44.84%)

Looks like 53 - 45 to me.

He adds 26,000 popular votes to his totals. Doesn't mean much, but every vote counts when you are running against this horrible person, who will use every single metric to strangle you.

Obama bested Clinton with 74% in the Kansas caucuses. He did as well in many state caucuses.
