Obama Rally

Today, May 10, marks the first day of what the Obama campaign is calling its "Vote For Change" project. From barackobama.com:

On May 10th, Barack Obama is launching Vote for Change, an unprecedented 50-state voter registration and mobilization drive. More than 100 events will be held across the country that day. Obama volunteers will register new voters as the start of a six-month voter registration drive.

Marc Ambinder has more on just what this project entails and its potential impact:
The Vote For Change program will lay the foundation for Obama's general election get-out-the-vote efforts. Obama aides won't say much more, but I gather that the campaign is constructing an incredibly elaborate online interface to allow its more than a million donors and volunteers to directly persuade their neighbors through a variety of media. Names gathered from the voter registration effort will be merged with names gathered through Obama's primary efforts and the names off of the Democratic Party's integrated voter file as well as lists purchased from outside vendors.

On election day, Obama might have more than a million individuals volunteering on his behalf. That should scare the beejeesus out of the McCain campaign and the RNC.

Good question though, US is busy placing Iranian Labels on them! US's Aggression towards Illegal Wars in unbelievable.

Iraqi government distanced itself from U.S. accusations towards Iran

........... The government spokesman, Ali al-Dabbagh, told reporters Sunday that "We don't want to be pushed into any conflict with any neighboring countries, especially Iran.

What happened before is enough. We paid a lot," Dabbagh said, referring to the eight years war between the two nations in which an estimated 1 million people died..............

Haha. Terry McAuliffe on the White story said she was simply quoting an AP article. Tim pointed out that AP didn't say "white voters". Terry's face was a study

He pointed out "The AP story didn't say white Americans were hard working". Terry's spin? She was paraphrasing. What a douche bag

All morning long I heard "What she meant to say was..."

Bullshit. Most politicians are sharp and are good with words. They knew what words mean. I take them at their word. No "misstatements" or "mispeaking" or "botched jokes."

She meant what she said. It was a little more of that Southern Strategy, Clinton style. She is a racist. Racist is as racist does. I don't care where hubby has his office or how many black churches she's visited for the purposes of pandering with her faux southern twang.

Terry usually does pretty well spinning the Clinton agenda, but I have to say he was way off his game today. I think he realizes it is over. Howard Wolfson is the one that drives me crazy with his sliminess.

Gallup : Obama 49 : Cinton 45

Gallup has been saying for the last few days hat Obama gained nothing after the Tuesday primaries. Looks like it takes a few days for the effect to show. Funny Gallup didn't realize that.

Obama now needs 160 delegates to reach 2025. I saw someone comment about how the SDs aren't all endorsing Obama after the NC win. I understand Obama has asked them to keep it to a trickle, just so there is no public, huge humiliation of Clinton, and she doesn't feel overwhelmed and forced to leave the race. I think that shows class, but that's our guys, polite, considerate, classy,
If positions were reversed, I am sure things would be very different. But hey, they aren't.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:28 AM on 05/11/2008

Maybe that's why they aren't.

Actually, it's in Senator Obama's best interest for Senator Clinton to remain in the primaries through June 3. The only states between now and then in which he is strongly competitive are Oregon and, to a lesser degree, South Dakota. That would be unlikely to change even if Clinton withdrew from the race, and it would be a major PR gaffe to have the presumptive nominee trounced by 40-percent-plus margins *after* his opponent drops out.

By having Senator Clinton remain in the race until all the primaries are done, Obama can chalk up the brutal landslides in places like West Virginia, Kentucky, and Puerto Rico to a "well-run race by a formidable opponent" without losing face. Then, starting on June 4, he can start mending fences and helping Clinton bow out.

haha, this is in todays WashPo. The republicans are hurting....My favorite part:

Tom Davis, who chaired the NRCC for four years, said he doubts the effectiveness of the anti-Obama strategy because of the contrast between the consistently unpopular Bush and the likely Democratic nominee.

"When Bush tries to articulate a vision," Davis said, pausing to choose his words carefully, "he will butcher the Gettysburg Address. Obama, he will make an A&P grocery list sing."

House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio), in a private meeting with Republicans on Tuesday, admitted the limitations of the anti-Obama strategy and tried to sell his troops on an Obama-like message of "change" as their only hope for success.

"We can't win SOLELY by tying our opponents to Barack Obama and his liberal views. We also have to prove Republicans are agents of change," Boehner told his colleagues, according to talking points prepared by his staff and provided to The Post.

This 50 state voter registration strategy is what is going to win democrats not only Barack Obama as president but also a democratic majority in congress.

Obama has a volunteer army of volunteers in almost every state that will not only be called on to volunteer for him to win the presidency but also to help fellow democratic congressman to take the seats of retiring republicans and hotly contested republican seats.

This is an opportunity for the real conservatives and moderates and liberal Republicans to retake their hijacked political party from the dixiecrats and the PNAC Corporate Theocons and Secular Neocons. This will happen when they have a minority in both chambers unable to overturn an Obama veto.

In turn, the election of President Obama will be like Theodore Roosevelt in turning a Big Stick to the fascists of the Second Gilded Age. Like Franklin Roosevelt, President Obama will give a New and Fair Deal to the American people.

From the posts on the blog the election is in full swing and it's Obama versus McCain. But don't expect trolls to expound on the virtues of McCain. Trolls know that Obama is right on all the issues so they will only resort to personal attacks. Contrary to the trolls I will state the main reasons why I support my candidate.

I'm one of those educated supporters of Obama who has a Masters in Chemistry and pride myself as an analytical thinker. I first favored Edwards but when he dropped out I happily chose Obama over Clinton. I chose Obama after looking at each campaign's websites and mulling over the issues. Both candidates were very similar on the issues so I evaluated which candidate has the best chance to implement their plans. That made my choice clear it was Obama for a few reasons.

First the next president needs to inspire people into action because the last president told us just to keep shopping and did not ask for personal sacrifice save for a select few who are bearing the brunt of our burdens in Iraq. I was particularly please with Obama's call to young people to serve their country in some way for a college education. Obama knows that grass roots supports are not only needed to win campaigns but also is needed to realize a vision for the country.

Second I could see that Obama was a true post partisan figure not with his words only but with policy. His health care plan is the only plan that has a chance of passing in todays political climate. Republicans in congress will NEVER pass another mandated social plan. Hillary had not learned her lessons on health care like she said she did. Obama's health care plan is the only plan that had a chance. Obama's middle class tax relief also shows he was serious about bridging the partisan divide.

Third Obama is a truly strategic thinker. While Bill Clinton governed on the prevailing wind and Bush governed with an ideology frozen in time, Obama will govern for the future. He was right on Iraq and most importantly he is right about the current and future crisis in this country. We have been stuck in a political quagmire for the last few decades. That's why no major accomplishments have been sustainable. The nation needs to move past it's partisan gridlock and rightly Obama realized that is the biggest problem we face today. Obama also realizes that our biggest foreign policy challenge this century is maintaining our economic dominance because economic dominance leads to political and military dominance. Obama said this in his interview with Wolf Blitzer just last week. He said and I paraphrase that if the Chinese continue to increase their economic power their military power soon will follow. Economic experts say that the Chines could pass our GDP as soon as 2020 if the yuan is valued at the rate it should be. McCain on the other hand thinks Islamic militantcy is our biggest challenge of the 21st century. Nothing can be further from the truth. A few thousand militants around the world does not equal an economic power with over a billion people.

Fourth Obama has the character to deliver for this country. He is honest and trustworthy, does not continuously pander, is a true patriot not a nationalist (a debate for another day), is extremely intelligent, revers the constitution and all it stands for and is tougher than people think.
