Pope Benedict XVI acknowledged Saturday that the Vatican's teaching against birth control was difficult as he praised a 1968 Church document that condemned contraception.
In a speech marking the 40th anniversary of the document, Benedict reiterated the Church's ban against artificial birth control as well as more recent teaching against using artificial procreation methods.

It is just so typical. The Pope can sit on his butt in the Vatican and think about what is best. His priority is the salvage of the soul, not life. If the soul needs life to get hurt so it can be saved, so be it. Real people have to deal with the consequences of his decisions. Their inability to control their birth rates affects everyone, not just the followers. Thanks for the big helping hand on solving real problems in the real world Your Holiness.

Why is it unGodly to use birth control drugs but ok to to antibiotics etc? I mean really, are you for modern medicine or not? Or is it just moms who have to avoid drugs that could keep them healthy and sane?

It's almost inconceivable that this man (or his predecessors) should have the right to say anything about sex or reproduction. John VI "suffered" during his deliberations on the encyclical that decided the reproductive "rules" of millions of catholic women? I doubt it. Magical thinking never turns out well.
