I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Nyp Gephradt

Remember four years ago when the New York Post announced to the world that Dick Gephardt was going to be Kerry's pick for vice-president, except that it wasn't true, not one word of it, not even a syllable? Good times! And we were all reminded of those good times this morning on Fox News Sunday when the most genius man in punditry, William Kristol, confidentally predicted that Richard Gephardt would be Obama's vice-presidential pick. And it took Terry McAuliffe pronouncing Tim Russert's father - who is very much alive - dead and in heaven for my brain to to add a triple toe-loop to the quadruple axel spin that it did at this moment.

[WATCH.]

WALLACE: Who do you think he should pick or might pick?

LIASSON: I think he needs someone with foreign policy experience. By definition they'll be older than him. I think if you want to do the easy route, Ted Strickland probably will get you Ohio.

WALLACE: Governor of Ohio.

LIASSON: Which is a state that you really, really need. He doesn't have foreign policy experience. Ed Rendell.

WALLACE: Governor of Pennsylvania.

LIASSON: If they need him to get Pennsylvania I don't think that's not such a good thing for the Democrats. Sam Nunn I think would be great, but he's a little old.

Story continues below
advertisement

WALLACE: I'll give you one name.

KRISTOL: Dick Gephardt.

WALLACE: Former congressman, Missouri.

KRISTOL: Former Democratic leader in the congress. Very attractive to working class Democrats.

WILLIAMS: Very nice, but old news.

Uhm, yeah. Very attractive to working class Democrats. Who powered Gephardt to the presidential nomination all of ZERO times.

Naturally, one has to allow for the possibility that Kristol is making a one-in-a-million prediction here. So, if he turns out to be correct, I promise to bake him an apple pie while wearing a prom dress on the roof of the Newseum.

Like Jon Stewart said " Oh Bill, have you ever been right about anything?"

We can pretty much rest assured that whom ever the VP Candidate will be, it won't be Gephardt.

SpectCon:

“I just don't get why Democrats are afraid.”

Well, Sugar…maybe I can point you to some reasons.

1. The November election may be stolen again:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hCyVsUir8k&feature=related

also: read the entire content of the Brad Blog.

2. Vote “caging” which is a method to deny the vote to segments of the population by sending “do not forward” letters to the addresses on voting lists and using those letters as proof they were registered with phony home addesses. It has been used primarily in black neighborhoods and to specifically negate the absentee votes of service men and women deployed overseas.
3. In a close race, which this may very well be, we need enough voters to overwhelm whatever percentage that is set as a voting fraud target.
4. If even one quarter of Clinton supporters do anything other than support the party in its effort to take back the White House, we’ll lose.

I’m no longer saying “combine the ticket”…I’m saying we can’t afford to continue to cover our ears and sing “la la la la”. Reality is going to bite us on the arse unless we unite as a party. Some way…some how.

Refuse to rise to the bait anytime someone goes negative to support their political ideas. Refuse to engage in further he said/she said sibling crap. Think about what is at stake. Get focused on the November goal.

This asshat has been wrong about absolutely everything. That he has a column in the NYTimes underscores the fact that the NYTimes is THE most overrated newspaper in the world. Then only thing liberal about the NYTimes is the Arts & Leisure section. Bill Kristol and The NYtimes deserve each other.

The fact the Kristol is wrong about absolutely everything is why he held in such high esteem and adulation by Republicans. To be otherwise (i.e., to be right about things, even once in a while) would be, in their view, an "elite". And they're continually told by Fox News and right-wing hate radio that "elites" are bad for America and not to vote for them.

ONCE AGAIN BILL KRISTOL DEMONSTRATES WHY HE HAS A REPUTATION AS A POMPOUS IDIOT. IF FOX INSISTS ON HAVING CONSERVATIVE VOICES THEY SHOULD AT LEAST COME UP WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE SOME GRASP OF REALITY, NOT CLOWNS LIKE KRISTOL.

You forget. The Republicans, of the Bush Administration, which Fox is a major portion, make up their own reality.

And the rest of us are left to react to it.

Mr. Kristol is, if nothing else, consistent. He is the all time Titanium Man, the Cal Ripkin, the Guinness Book of World Records candidate of the American political punditocracy.

Somehow, despite the odds against being wrong for so many years, Kristol has an unblemished consecutive record of never being right about a single thing since 1997 when, against the better judgement of the sports illuminati, he picked the Florida Marlins to win the World Series.

Every since that unfortunate day, he's kept his stellar record of being WRONG about EVERYTHING intact, and it might be many generations before anyone even threatens to break his record.

Congratulations Bill Kristol - You've done it again!

I can't believe no one has suggested Bill Clinton --and YES HE IS ELIGIBLE to be ELECTED Vice President--neither the 12th nor the 22nd amendment forbid this...

Who, in their right mind, would ever think of trying to share the spotlight with Bill Clinton?

That's like getting the earth to stop spinning on its axis.

Bill always has top billing -- didn't you know that?

And, if you don't give it to him, he'll take it anyway. Look what he's done to Hillary's campaign.

That's an interesting thought. If Bill Clinton was vice president, what would happen if something happened to the president (Obama in this hypothetical situation)?

As usual -in the event something "happened" to the President- the Vice President would assume the Presidency....that Bill already has two terms is irrelevant...people think the Constitution limits anyone to two terms as President---it does no such thing...it limits anyone to two ELECTIONS to President....

theoretically--Bill Clinton could be elected vice Prez--the Prez could become incapacitated--he couldthen serve out that term but could not run for re-election--so then theoretically he could run for Congress--win and somehow become speaker of the house and then IF the sitting Prez and vice Prez become incapcitated and he would again be President...--since he would only have been ELECTED President twice as is the rule...Gerald Ford served as President and was not even elected once....if all of this happened people might then want to go back and look into the Vince Foster thing to say the least....

Sorry,

Folks first of all Obama still has to get the nomination.

Second as more and more sh*t starts hitting the fan on Obama, especially his 20+ year relationship with the radical ex-terrorist Weathermen Underground founder William Ayers even winning the nomination will be in doubt.

As all the dirt comes out on a prospective Obama nominee no remotely sane Democrat with a future will want to share the ticket with him. It would spell the end of his/her political career as Obama goes down in a worse GE defeat that McGovern. Obama will be lucky to get 35% of the vote.

For you Obamabots I have some dream tickets for you. And it will be the best you can do.

Obama/Chomsky or Obama/Zinn or Obama/Kucinich or Obama/McKinney

It is a sad, sad thing that those who do not favor Obama, for whatever reason, drudge up these ridiculous accusations that have no foundation in fact.

If this kind of politics succeeds, I fear for the future of our country. I believe that this comes from the far, far right crowd, in which fear is their stock and trade, although my only evidence is the nature of the accusation.

The only sh*t that I see hitting the fan, is the content of this posting. Reject the lies. Reject rumor and innuendo. Let truth and liberty be your guide.

I just don't get why Democrats are afraid.

McCain was always going to be the most difficult Republican to beat. He's viewed as more centrist and anti-Washington. He also has the POW vote. The great thing about McCain, for Dems, is that he's embraced Iraq. Iraq is far more of an albatross than people realize.

Iraq is THE central change Obama can bring where fear won't work. People remember a world before the Iraq war, and they associate it with doing better. Hillary's supporters will get on-board, they are either feminists who will get board because McCain is forced to go to the abortion issue to motivate GOP turn-out. The rest of Hillary's supporters are basically Dem regulars. They believe it's us versus them, and even if they don't like the general in charge, they're extremely devoted and loyal.

So, if I'm right, you need only add the primary totals of Clinton and Obama together and compare it state-by-state with GOP numbers. It is especially meaningful in the very early states, before McCain became the presumptive, but don't ignore the massive registration drive and turnouts the Dems put together after that.

This the Democrat's year. Only Hillary could have united the GOP in numbers large enough to even make this close.

What do you mean by crap hitting the fan? Your hate rhetoric has a Timothy McVie/Lee Harvey Oswald tone to it. I think the authorities need to be looking at you if they haven't already.

I would be really interested if you can provide more than the fact that there was one meeting at his house and that they served on a charity board together?? So far, that's what we have. Please elaborate. Do you have some links to legitimate news organizations?

Thanks

According to Stuart Levine, a former Rezko associate turned prosecution witness, both Barack Obama and his wife Michelle were among the guests at a April 3, 2004 party at Rezko's Chicago home for Nadhmi Auchi. A great deal of Nadhmi Auchi's money was made doing business with the regime of Saddam Hussein At that time much of it under the table. Obama associates with great people doesn't he?

Krisol said, '"There's been a certain amount of pop sociology in America," he told National Public Radio listeners in the war's opening weeks, "that the Shia can't get along with the Sunni and the Shia in Iraq want to establish some kind of Islamic fundamentalist regime. There's been almost no evidence of that at all," he continued. "Iraq's always been very secular."

How do guys like Mark Penn and Kristol command the money they make?

How in God's creation this man ever became a pundit is totally beyond me. He is so absolutely wrong, always, about everything, that his opinions are uttterly meaningless. What world does he live in? I think he occupys some parallel universe and bleeds over into ours once in a while. The man is an absolute idiot.

His father. He got where he is because of his father, Irving. Irv was a co-founder along with Podhoretz and others from the radical Rights Chicago school, of the neocon movement in the late 1960's. This pit of vipers includes Feith, Perle, Bennett, Cheney and others. These are the same misfits and PNAC toads who came to power with Bush.

Here's a link that describes the relationships between and among these rat bastards.
