Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign rejected suggestions Sunday that Sen. Hillary Clinton is staying in the race in hopes of brokering some kind of agreement with the likely Democratic nominee.

"I don't believe that Sen. Clinton is looking for a deal," Obama's chief campaign strategist, David Axelrod, told "Fox News Sunday," when asked about suggestions she may want the Obama campaign's help retiring her campaign debt.

"I don't think that's what this is about," he said.

Last week, Obama sparked rumors that his campaign would pay off Clinton's campaign debts once he secured the nomination.

Thank God! This nightmare is not true!!!

Let Obama fall on his own sword. Hillary doesn't need an extremist. After walking away gracefully she can watch as a moderate takes the ticket and her warnings about McCain's connection with moderate democrats is realized.
We've had Eight Miserable Years of extremism, we don't need no more!

In 2012, once the lib dems wounds have healed, they'll be much more willing to support HRC.

But unfortunately it looks like they're going to have to learn things the hard way.

I don't think she has any interest in VP either, and that is a HORRIBLE idea anyway - it's practically handing over a warehouse full of fodder to McCain! After considering several different reasons why Hillary continues with this charade that she has a chance, I've come to the conclusion that it serves no other purpose but to try and get her supporters to pay off her debt at this point.

I'm bothered by the idea of Obama paying off her debt too, it just doesn't sit well with me. I don't like the idea of him having paid for the smears she has launched against him either. It's a VERY generous notion for sure; but I'd rather he have EVERY advantage that his supporters have given him, available to him when running in the general!!!

Obama needs her. Luckily it seems that she's wise enough to walk away and not pursue the vp.

Without a moderate on the dem ticket McCain will be our only choice.

She warned everyone, but the extremist plugged there ears and screamed, 'racist racist racist racist!' like little children..

What a fitting conclusion...

While I was going down the stair,
I met a dream ticket that wasn't there.

It wasn't there again today,
I wish I wish it would go away.

The reason there is no evidence of interest in the VP by Hillary is that "there is no interest" in any offer to her. Mayor or Governor of New York might serve her purpose..........but I doubt that.

Good. Hillary as vp would be poison for Obama and America.

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:51 PM on 05/12/2008

Good, because she won't be invited. The last thing Obama needs during his first four years is to have to keep watch over the Clinton Clan. Every week would bring a new, distracting scandal. If you think Bill Clinton actually cleaned up his act after her got nailed for his affair with Lewinsky, you are very naive. Let me remind you that he was under scrutiny back then for a different affair--with Paula Jones--and at least half a dozen of the women he had reportedly romanced, harassed, seduced, or made inappropriate advances toward were considered by the prosecution. Lewinsky was chosen because the affair was recent and because prosecutors had enough evidence so Clinton could not escape charges. This is what Clinton DOES, folks. It's his thing, and he will never change. So unless you want a Sex Scandal of the Month, do not send the Clintons back to Washington.

BY ANYONE ANYWHERE :JUST HAVE HER GO HOME WHERE EVER THE HELL THAT IS.

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:47 PM on 05/12/2008

Let me repeat ad nauseam.

If Trojan Horse Republican Clinton were a real Republican - she would have been TOLD by the GOP bigwigs and kingmakers to leave the campaign and she would have done it. Republican fascists are in charge and regiment their candidates without fail.

In the debating society - the Corporate Democratic fascists do not stop their own candidate, and the liberals, progressive and centrist minority pols do not have the clout to stop her even though they know that she is harming willingly and knowingly- the Democratic nominee and congressional candidates in order to advance her own nefarious agenda. THE CLINTONS ARE TOAST WITH EVERYONE BUT THE CRAZIEST HILLBOTS.

Mrs. Clinton is someone whose integrity has always been questioned throughout her entire professional career. I believe truly that she and her husband are symbiotic in their lack of integrity and gravitas.

Mrs. Clinton KNOWS that Senator Obama is the "real deal". He is comfortable in his skin because he has integrity and gravitas. President Obama will succeed because the real Democrats supporting her will vote for President Obama. Only the Hillbots will vote for McCain because they are racists or they do not care if Roe v Wade is overturned and returned to the States for 50 different choices.

This is a must read, it appear that Hillary's Ad man is sticking it to her, a case of revenge. This is what happens when you don't pay up.

Somebody's taking crazy pills if they think Obama would select Hillary Clinton as his VP.

Just imagine: all through the fall, if Hillary is on the ticket, Bill Clinton gets to continue his unhinged cross-country speechifying, reminding voters what a great president he was ...Obama would have to waste precious time rebutting 50% of the crap Bill would say, Bill's statements being craftily constructed to screw up Obama's campiagn and undermine the candidacy, so his wife could run in 2012. Not to mention, if Obamaprevailed in Nov., he would spend some percentage of his hard-won Presidency defending his VP's husband each time Bill got caught with his knickers down...

Hillary's supporters are not dumb--most realize that having an ex-President with control issues rattling around the West Wing would be disastrous for all of us...

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 12:01 PM on 05/12/2008

Hey, 'Top Gun' ---

The feelings mutual. We don't want her in that position either.
She and Bill would assiduously work to undermine Barack's every single effort.

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:46 AM on 05/12/2008

I think I agree, though we can't be sure. They might spend the first term doing everything they can to make sure he doesn't get a second term. In fact the more I think about it, the more I think the mere possbility of that is one of the best reasons---there are many---for Obama not to pick her as VP. Of course, even if she isn't VP, they might spend the next four years trying to undermine him in the way I've said. Bill and Hillary can't take rejection, I am fairly certain about that. They punish it.

All the comments about Michelle Obama on this subject have been posted by trolls. Bob Novak posted another false unsourced smear, yesterday. Trolls always follow orders, that's why they are good fascists.

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:35 AM on 05/12/2008

Oh, come on, EVERY comment posted about Michelle was posted by a troll? I don't think so, in fact I know that's false. Lots of people here had plenty to say about Michelle, some positive, some negative, and I know that some of them are not trolls--indeed, they spend their time trying to expose and see off trolls.

That is one advantage of the authoritarian mindset of the Republicans. If you have no independent thought, it's easy to steer them like ants. The Germans proved this admirably in the '30s.

Liberalism is the attempt to create a social order not based on irrational control or dogma. Democrats take pride in thinking for themselves rather than simply blindly worshiping authority.

IM4Clinton:
"West Virginia is a state thar Bill Clinton carried twice- no Democrat has since then"
Yeah I heard Terry say the same thing on Sunday. Not sure why Hillary didn"t win Illinois. Didn"t Bill carry that state? Why couldn"t Hillary win that state? I just don"t get it.

According to www.senate.gov:

"In 1964, Maine Senator Margaret Chase Smith declared her candidacy for the Republican nomination for president, becoming the first woman to actively seek the presidential nomination of a major political party. Smith served in the Senate from 1949 to 1971, following a decade of service in the House of Representatives."

No interest in the VP slot. Great!! The feeling is more than mutual. Slating clinton as vp goes against Obamas platform and core beliefs - no way clinton fits in that picture.

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 10:43 AM on 05/12/2008

She's also from the wrong state and she's got the wrong resume. VP must be a popular local politician from a major swing state. Preferably with some military background. Webb anyone?

**

replyReply favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 11:10 AM on 05/12/2008

Webb has stated he would not take the VP slot - but here's one to toss around. Obama wants to reach across the aisle right? He needs someone with military experience and he needs someone from a red state. Chuck Hagel is leaving the Republican party. He has been extremely outspoken against the war and against this administration. He was the former Deputy Adminstrator of the Veterans Adminstration. He is respected by many Democrats and Republicans. With him on the ticket I think many red states would turn blue. Just a thought, but wouldn't that just be a shocker?!
