CNN:

Sen. Barack Obama's presidential campaign rejected suggestions Sunday that Sen. Hillary Clinton is staying in the race in hopes of brokering some kind of agreement with the likely Democratic nominee.

"I don't believe that Sen. Clinton is looking for a deal," Obama's chief campaign strategist, David Axelrod, told "Fox News Sunday," when asked about suggestions she may want the Obama campaign's help retiring her campaign debt.

"I don't think that's what this is about," he said.

Last week, Obama sparked rumors that his campaign would pay off Clinton's campaign debts once he secured the nomination.

LOL

The sky's will open. Scores of angels will sing and the mighty and powerful Hillary will vanquish OPEC.

This is worse pandering than the gas tax holiday. OPEC is a foreign oil oligarchy that no other country can possibly control. The Bushes the Saudi lovers cannot even get them to pump more oil.

According to Begala, everyone who is supporting Obama are, "eggheads and blacks!" Let's not forget that Hillary has also said that we are "delusional." One thing's for sure about the Clinton campaign: They don't bite their tongues in letting us know how they feel about those who are not in their corner!

And this is someone who wants to be President of the UNITED States!

Signed,
A Delusional Black Egghead for Barack Obama '08

Then how come we didn't get 'lazygate', like we got 'bittergate' when Obama labelled smalltown people bitter? Why doesn't the media go mad at what she said, like they did with him at what he said? Are they unfair?

Clinton's endgame strategy is to begin damage control -- to minimize the damage if she can. Her and Bill's legacy are already trashed, perhaps beyond repair, and they have a major fraud suit coming against them by Peter Paul. If she wants to become Senate Majority Leader she has a lot of redemption work ahead of her, esp. if the Dems lose in November.

Part of her endgame is to close out owing as little money as possible. She can do that by going through the motions in the remaining contests, spending as little as possible while raising as much money as she can. In the meantime she is going sweet-talk her supporters into donating even more money to a lost cause so she can narrow her deficit position in one of the most poorly run campaigns in recent presidential history.. on a par wit Rudy Giuliani's who at least had enough smarts to get out before he was owing too much.

It is going to be difficult to convince people who are not already maxed out to even give her $100 when she has little chance to win, and while she and Bill are sitting on over $100 million. There is little doubt also, that she can earn $25,000 or more a shot if she wants to do the talk circuit.

If her endgame strategy is to begin damage control, she should suspend her campaign. If it hurts to do that, then stop dong that.

My understanding is that the 11.4 million dollars she loaned herself is lost if she does not win, meaning it cannot be replaced by post-campaign fund raising. I am happy to hear that.

"Obama camp: Clinton not looking for a deal" Well, it's too soon to show. What else could Axelrod say? Let's wait until after May 20th or June 3rd. Then we might see if it is for real. I for one don't thing Hillary is going to disappear for free. She is too ambitious and has no nobleness whatsoever.

The Clinton people are still clinging to that big state story even tho it was a mistake from the beginning.
Penn's strategy was just to focus on the big 28 states because he thought the Democrat delegates were awarded on a winner take all system like the Republicans. Duh!
They lie and mis-represent the Mi. vote. Obama wasn't even on the ballot.
Florida's vote is not representative of the voters will because many didn't vote as they knew it wouldn't count.
Ohio and Penn. are closed primaries so independents didn't get to vote and Democrats can't win without the independent vote. This of course is never mentioned by her people when they blather on about winning Ohio and Penn.
AND she won Indiana and Texas with Republican ditto head voters who will vote for McBush in Nov.

These Clinton people are shameless. Second rate pople hire third rate people.

Hillary's people prove by their poor judgement and incompetence, that she lacks leadership ability.

Hey, I just realized something---and what made me think of it is a comment by Intelligent Design, below. I am pretty sure either Hillary or one of her surrogates or someone high up in her campaign, or all three, have made the argument that Obama reaching such high math numbers---delegates, popular vote, etc.---is something that happened early on, before all the controversy about him emerged. That things have changed. And that these controversies spell trouble for him in the General Election. He might be unelectable because of them, the argument goes.
Well! Can't the same be said for Hillary's early victories, you know, the 'big states' she says she got and Obama hasn't? She got those victories early on and before she turned really negative, even nasty.
Things have changed. Her more recent behavior could spell trouble for HER in the General Election. It's possible that millions of voters have been turned off by her more recent behavior, ones who voted for her in the 'big states' even. SHE might be unelectable. What irony.
And this argument can be made to any as-yet-undeclared superdelegates, if it hasn't already.

Dear Repulsive Operative:

The victory in Pennsylvania was "inevitable" mostly because Pennsylvania is a machine state. The true test of Obama's mettle was that despite the Rev. Wright explosion, he still cut her lead down from over 20% to just barely under 10%. if Rev. Wright was going to have any effect, she should have won Pennsylvania going away, something like the numbers she's supposedly going to have in West Virginia.

That is so true states like CA and TX would go for Obama today. The early voting won CA for Hillary and her scare tactics had a short term affect in TX. Clinton had a 20 point lead to win it by only 9 points even though people knew about Wright. Heck Obama would probably would have won IN if the primary was a tad later. The fact is Obama would still be winning. He has been ahead in almost all the Democratic polls months after the BS.

May 11, 2008,
"Emanuel to Kennedy: That’s Not Nice" by Adam Nagourney NYT May 11, 2008

On a day when it seemed that everybody was beating up on Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton — even “Saturday Night Live” had run a skit making fun of her -– one person came to her defense on Sunday: Representative Rahm Emanuel of Illinois, a top Democrat in the House.

Mr. Emanuel called to assail Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Democrat of Massachusetts, for remarks he made when asked about the possibility of Senator Barack Obama of Illinois choosing Mrs. Clinton, of New York, as his running-mate.

“I have a lot of respect for Ted Kennedy, but I don’t know how the hell he comes off saying that,” said Mr. Emanuel, who has ties to Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama and has not endorsed in the race. “The gratuitous attack on her is uncalled for and wrong. He is a better senator than that comment reveals.”

I don't mean to be a pain in the ass, but why can't Kennedy say that, again?

There are things the Senator from Massachusetts can and cannot say regarding the primary, but only as to Hillary Clinton?

Why is there a double standard? Clinton's supporters can say nearly anything, but Obama's supporters have to tread lightly, for fear of offense?

Was I the only one listening to Ed Rendell?

"The worst news for Republicans in recent weeks has been the capture by Democrats of two Republican House seats in special elections in Illinois and Louisiana. Poorly chosen candidates were responsible for the defeats, Republicans insist. Maybe, but success in special elections usually foreshadows success in the next general election. This was precisely what happened in the months before the 1994 Republican landslide when Republicans won Democratic seats in special elections." -- Fred Barnes

And they're going to run the same losers in November. I live in one of those districts, Hastert's in Illinois, which was a red district for 3 decades. They guy he endorsed got his butt whipped, but he's going to run again in November. He's a glutton for punishment.

It shows the dearth of quality candidates the Republicans have. I mean, who is going to be McCain's running mate? Romney the Flip Flopping Suckup? Boy, that's a great way to lose the evangelical vote. McCain did not win a single southeastern state primary. Huckabee? Perhaps, but he won't help McCain outside of the south. Who else is there foolish enough to flush his/her career down the toilet?

Let's make one thing clear the least valid question in all the exit polls was the question whether you would vote for McCain or not vote if your candidate did not win the nomination. The general election is still almost six months away so Democrats do not know how they will vote. A combination of things are likely to happen first Obama and Hillary will make every effort to heal the party and second McCain will remind all the Democrats that he is nothing more than another right wing Bush III.

It's too serious to have it turned into a game of chicken, and that's what it feels like.

I don't remember a primary where one candidate's supporters announced that the candidate in the lead might "collapse" from some unspecified and darkly hinted at political scandal, so we need a "backup".
