Senators John McCain and Barack Obama are already drawing up strategies for taking each other on in the general election, focusing on the same groups -- including independent voters and Latinos -- and about a dozen states where they think the contest is likely to be decided this fall, campaign aides said.

Obama has to play hard ball or he will get beat.

All of McCain's past is fair game because god knows all of Obama's will be.

People need to educate themselves about John McCain.

And do it quickly.

The mob folks. The MOB!!!

My parents lost a lot of money in the scandal and McCain got off with a slap on the wrist. Hell yes it's an issue. So is his role in his wife's prescription drug use, and the things she did to obtain them, and his role in covering things up by pulling strings. She clearly broke the law, and he helped her get off with a slap on the wrist.

Let's see what "the straight talk express" has to say about these two things.

Of course the Keating 5 is fair game. Why would anyone think this issue isn't fair game in attacking McCain? And everyone is entitled to their opinion but no one gets to pick their own facts. So, have at it, but no making things up.

4 of the 5 , so called, Keating 5 are/were DEM!

After a lengthy investigation, the Senate Ethics Committee determined in 1991 that Alan Cranston, Dennis DeConcini, and Donald Riegle had substantially and improperly interfered with the FHLBB in its investigation of Lincoln Savings, while John Glenn and John McCain had been only minimally involved. The Committee recommended censure for Cranston and criticized the other four for "questionable conduct."

All five of the senators involved served out their terms, but only Glenn and McCain ran for re-election (and were subsequently re-elected).

And that was, what ? 19 years ago? You know, about the same time BHO was getting his religion kick started by the Rev. Wright!!! So 'let the games begin'!

The issue is....McCain is the only one of those creeps who is running for President NOW. The others have done what he should do.....retire to the home.

I'll be seeing you, KBRA the ditto head.

You are correct. For McCain, the Keating affair is no big deal.

You need to look at the bigger picture. As in Mafia. As in the career of his father-in-law
and then start to connect the dots. Liquor. Liquor licenses. What was McCain's first job in Arizona? PR for his wife's company.

If you want to understand McCain, you need to look at the relationship between the beverage industry and the mob in Arizona. Then throw in drugs and prostitution, keeping the Mexico border in mind, and you should have a better understanding of who
really employs John McCAin.

And it is not the people of Arizona. The man is a total and complete crook.

And does that "19 years" barrier hold for the Clintons?

Thought so................

Since the Republicans had the good fortune to knock out all the exteme right wing Revival Tent Republicans in the primary, the race opens a lot of different scenarios. Two regions are off the table already. The South will go Republican and the Northeast will vote Democratic. That leaves the Great Lakes states and the Mountain West to be the battleground areas.

A lot depends on the VeeP candidates. McCain is going to be very strong in the Western states where his brand of libertarian Republicanism breaks with the religious whacko extremism of Bush. McCain does have the home court advantage. As usual the race is probably going to hinge on the usual three states: Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania. The winner of two of them is almost always the winner. Florida is going to be sewn up for McCain. How Obama plays in Ohio and Pennsylvania is an open question.

Look out for California. There is widespread speculation that Carly Fiorina could be McCain's Veep choice. Obams's stance on drivers licenses for illegals was one of the main reasons why Gray Davis was recalled and that Arnold is now the Governator. It promises to be a great election!

The best thing for Obama to do is to keep tying McCain to Bush. The best thing Obama can do is to surround himself with people of brilliance and experience endorsing his views and programs. As an example he was well helped when economists universally agreed with him about the Gas Tax Holiday.

McCain going for the Latino vote is the funniest thing in the world.

Nearly every Latino I know is Catholic.
How will they feel about Rev Hagee declaring them "The Great WHORE of Babylon"

this ought to get the Lou Dobbs Gang and the Rushians in quite a tither!
