It was only a matter of time, really. If you ever doubted that Joe Lieberman would be using what's left of his "Independent Democrat" credentials to legitimize the GOP's bogus "Hamas endorsed Obama" attack, here he is on CNN doing just that...

When Wolf Blitzer pointed out that Obama also labels Hamas a terrorist organization, making his position the same as McCain's, Lieberman said, "that's true," adding that Obama "clearly doesn't support any of the values and goals of Hamas." Then, with depressing predictability, came the inevitable caveat.

That is not entirely true. Lieberman won because old party Democrats supported him rather than the party's nominee, the anti-war Ned Lamont. Lieberman's most notorious supporter was current speaker of the CT House, Jim Amann, who now wants to be Governor. Let him explain that support to a state that voted for Obama over Clinton in the presidential primary. And to show Lieberman's true colors, Obama supported him over Lamont in the CT. Democratice Senatorial primary.

The shame is not that Lieberman used the Democratic Party all of these years to get elected while harboring and cultivating his right-wing views, the shame is that Democrats did not recognize this Quisling in their midst.
