Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty Jokes His Wife Won't Have Sex With Him

Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty is most likely in a lot of hot water today for a comment he made during a radio show. Pawlenty joked that he wished his wife's desire for him (in the carnal sense) was as intense as her love of fishing.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty spent the fishing opener with his wife, Mary Pawlenty, on Big Pelican Lake in Breezy Point, Minn.

If an aside uttered by Pawlenty on Mike Max's radio show on WCCO-AM is any indication, they may very well have spent their every waking moment fishing.

"I have a wife who genuinely loves to fish. I mean, she will take the lead and ask me to go out fishing, and joyfully comes here," the governor said before adding, "She loves football, she'll go to hockey games and, I jokingly say, 'Now, if I could only get her to have sex with me.'"

Good joke. Have to give Pawlenty credit for that one. Nothing wrong with having a bit of a bawdy sense of humor. Hopefully his wife took it in the spirit in which it was (I assume) meant.

If this is who "conservative Republican" pundits on Sunday talk shows think should be McCain's top choice for a running mate, then Obama may as well run with Hugh Hefner or Larry Flynt. I reckon Pawlenty is cruisin' for a bruisin' from his wife, if not outright divorce. His remarks may be better suited to the Howard Stern Show, where guests' sex lives are regular topics of freewheeling discussion, but if I were Tim's wife, I wouldn't want my hubbie to mention anything about our sex lives. Meanwhile, the notion of conflating fishing with sex brings to mind the graphic scenes of mayhem in Clive Barker's film "Hellraiser" involving fish hooks and carnal knowledge at the height of passion. Pinhead warned Kirstie's mom, "We'll tear your soul apart!" after her lover made the tragic error of playing with the game box. If Tim Pawlenty thinks fishing and sex have so much in common, he ought to try being a fish for a day, or his wife should trade places with these marine dwellers to get a taste of her own medicine.

The sooner Pawlenty makes himself into even more of a laughing stock, the better. I couldn't believe it when Minnesotans reelected him....his opponent (Mike Hatch) would have been a much better choice, but he was a hothead and let fly too close to the election and Minnesotans don't like stuff like that. They would rather be lied to by Pawlenty and the infamous Norm Coleman. GAWD, I hope that McCain picks Coleman as his running mate.
