But the real deal is that these same people that won't vote for Obama surely won't vote for hillary in the fall against a "white male"........

This process has really opened my eyes to the Good and the Bad. Right wing people (sean hannity and rush) are trying to dog Michelle about saying "this country is mean".....what do you call WV with their backwards thinking.

"...what do you call WV with their backwards thinking."

Sadly neglected by the rest of the country.

A good point. It is easy to point the finger at others, difficult to understand why they feel the way they do, and very difficult to accept that they may have valid reasons for their feelings.

He's scouting for locations to turn into government subsidized slums like he did in Chicago. Gotta pay back those supporters somehow.

Is that the best you can do??? Pathetic. The people in WV are wallowing in poverty. Which administration in Washington has done a d@mn thing for them? Clinton goes down their and offers them the world and they bite. They are asleep in their lives. I'm willing to bet my last dollar if they had not given in to their racism and voted for Obama, when he becomes President he would do everything within his power to help them. He still may. I wouldn't, but then I tend not to like people who practically spit in my face.

I think President Obama WILL do something to alleviate the poverty in places like WV, KY, OH, and PA. Not to mention everywhere else.

These people in WV are literally enslaved. Enslaved by ignorance , and fear. Let the republicans keep mining the tops of thier mountains off and poisoning thier rivers but don't vote democrat. Praise the lord and pass the ammunition. Sorry , Hillary but we're not gonna listen to every American voter.I don't think we should let a bunch of ignorant hick rascists with Bush/Cheney stickers on the back of thier trucks decide our primary.

A paper can't find one Obama supporters? I guess Obama will record a zero come Tuesday. It is Obvious that he will be getting some votes but there must be such a racial fervor that Obama backers don't want to admit they are voting for Obama so as not to look bad in the eyes of the majority.

It reminds me of PA. There were a lot of Obama backers who did not put up signs for fear of what their neighbors may say. Anyways, Obama is going to get his 35% or more then move on.

Yeah, I live in Indy and voted for Obama but I didn't advertise it because just across the street from me they fly a giant rebel flag.
I still have to live here though so why stir up trouble? I have kids to think about.

I can understand your point. I, on the other hand, if faced with something like that, would have posted the ten foot tall billboard on top of my house with "Obama: Let's stop the Ignorance". But then, there's only myself, my wife and our cats.

Alot of people feel the same way as you. But the beauty of it is this. The ballot booth only has room for 1. And maybe what some say in public may not reflect what they do on Tuesday.

The two comments that were captured i nthat inteview has strands of bigoted beliefs weaved throughout them. "Full-Blooded American"???? WTF is that supposed to mean? An ignorant comment does less to question the subject and more to question who lent it.

I live in Indy and I have a bumper sticker on the back of my car. I was wondering if I would get any vandalism to my car...but nothing happened. I have kids too, but sometimes it's important for your kids to see you stand up in the face of fear for what is right. Every person has to make that decision for themselves though, I'm not trying to call you out, I'm just saying...we can't keep making decisions and casting votes based on fear, or we will never move ahead! Just think of how fearful those people marching with Dr. King must have been in the 1960s...but where would we be if they hadn't done it anyway?

They are still living in the Civil War era..they hate Lincoln and so many people compare the two...so there ya go. I know a guy who teaches American History from the "southern perspective" (I know..how frightening is that) who hates Lincoln so much he won't even carry $5 dollar bills. You want to talk about backwards? If I were Obama...I would avoid it too. You can't reach the unreachable.

And so Hillary further consolidates and revels in her moron & inbred vote. As a Kentuckian although she is ahead let me assure you that West Virginia is not a representation of todays South. The shame is Clinton allowing this perception of the NOMINEE in the real world, to continue. I also noticed the homegirl from Scranton, Arkansas, New York, Illinois and pretty much everywhere has redeveloped her Southern accent to appeal to the "good Christian folk of West Virginny"!

WV is not really the South. It's a Midwest hybrid that combines Tennessee with Ohio and a healthy dose of 1920s type backwoods sentiment. Which is why a black woman was just the victim of a hate crime their.

did you have any problem when Obama brought out his Kansas roots in KS; or his Hawaiian roots while in Hawaii; or his Illionois roots while in IL?

Hillary rightfully claimed that her grandfather was miner in PA and that she lived in Arkansas. I think it's pretty telling that the DEMs in Arkansas gave he such an ovewhelming win there. They knew her better than almost anywhere else because of her years living there. that should tell you something about who she really is.

I was reading through some online WV newspapers and found that they in WV are calling Hillary, Bill and Chelsea the "Clinton clan". Hmmm!

I used to think I might like to live in WV but the comments I've been reading have totally changed my mind. I don't even want to visit now.
It's amazing to me how some Americans can still be so narrow minded in the 21st century.

I voted for Obama in Indianapolis on May 6th and I will vote for him again in November. I'm counting on the rest of the modern United States to elect Obama. Who needs WV!

I love the characterization of the 67-year-old, cigarette smoking coal miner and lifelong Democrat saying that he'd vote for McCain because he "heard Obama was a Muslim and his wife's an atheist."

What a reason to vote against you're own interests! And folks got their panties in a bunch over "bittergate." This guy puts a face to those comments.

If I were to hire someone, I would not seek information to which political party they are affiliated with, but information regarding their accomplishments. Obama has next to nothing! I don’t give a damn about the Democratic Party; and I’m a life long Democrat. I will vote the most qualified, experienced candidate who has the track record that has proven them to be a fighter for ALL Americans. Hillary Clinton has the best credentials next to John McCain. Change will come Day One because experience will dictate what worked in the past and what will work in the future. With experience comes the wisdom of not only recognizing you strengths, but your weakness. With experience comes the integrity of accepting your failures and never repeating mistakes. Hillary has a history of fighting for what is right for all Americans. Her experience will lead America in the right direction. I will vote Experience before Speculative Change.

"experience will dictate what worked in the past and what will work in the future"

This idea might work if time were standing still. We don't live in a static world. We live in a dynamic one where the scenarios are constantly changing.

W Va is losing population and is 48th in personal income in the US. I am no expert but to me and at this point, that state looks like a lost cause. You can either try to educate these numbskulls or just write them off to the GOP in the GE. I don't know what the answer is, but I do know this: trying to build a "winning" coalition around uneducated bigots is a depressing thought.

West Virginia voted Democrat in 1976 (Carter 58% to Ford 42%), in 1992 (Clinton 43% to Bush1 (32%) and in 1996 (Clinton 52% to Dole 37%). It doesn't sound to me at all like these "numbskulls" are incapable of voting Democratic in presidential elections.

they also voted for JFK in 1960, even though he was the first catholic ever elected. so if you want to discount WVA as being full of bigots just because they favor Hillary over Obama, you can but you are being just narrow-minded and bigotted in your views.

Just because whoever wrote this story provocatively sought to focus on the misinformation held by this one (or few voters) doesn't mean that all the others base their vote on that point.

Does that mean that the other states that went for Hillary are also full of bigots? Hillary has almost as many votes as Obama and if you consider, even if not count, the voters of MI and FL, she has more. Are they all bigots? Can you for a moment accept that some of us just prefer Hillary to Obama for a myriad of reasons not related to bigotry?

They prove it by believing Hillary when she hinted Obama might be a muslin..
