Hillary Clinton

McClatchy Newspapers:

Hillary Clinton clobbered Barack Obama in West Virginia Tuesday, but her late win in a small state likely did little to slow rival Barack Obama's march toward the Democratic presidential nomination.

Clinton won the overwhelmingly white state in a walk -- by a landslide margin of 2-1, according to exit polls -- and used the results to argue that Americans shouldn't count her out yet.

"After tonight's tremendous victory here in West Virginia, it's clear that the pundits declaring this race over have it all wrong. The voters in West Virginia spoke loud and clear -- they want this contest to go on," Clinton said in a message e-mailed to supporters Tuesday evening.

"I'm going to carry the energy of tonight's victory into the next contests in Kentucky and Oregon. ...You have worked your heart out, put yourself on the line for what you believe in and given generously. And I'm not about to turn my back on you."

KEEP COOL AND DO THE RIGHT THING FOR THE FUTURE OF UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
AND THE RIGHT THING IS NOT THE THIRD TERM OF BUSH - NOT THIS TIME - NO MACCAIN

- WE DESERVE BETTER FUTURE
- WE DESERVE BETTER THAN CLINTON
- AND ALL WE HAVE IS OBAMA FOR THE PEOPLES

What is clear," Kronholz writes, is that "when challengers refused to concede and instead pursued the nomination into the convention," their party's nominee got beaten in November. She cites Ronald Reagan's 1976 challenge to Gerald Ford, Senator Edward M. ('Teddy') Kennedy's 1980 bid to unseat Jimmy Carter, and Senator Gary Hart's insurgency against Walter Mondale in 1984. AND THIS HOW THE MACCAINS WILL TRY TO MAKE US FIGHT AGAINST EACH OTHER AND GAIN BACKERS OF THE CLINTONS - BUT NOT THIS TIME - DONT BUY THEIR TACTICS IF YOU'RE A LIKED THE CLINTONS BECAUSE - THIS TIME WE THE PEOPLES ARE IN IT FOR TO END THEIR GAMES AND RESTORE AMERICA - WITH OBAMA AGAINST ALL ENEMIES - THIS TIME DON'T BUY THEIR GAME!

Remember: Don't be afraid - We are the peoples and We have Obama - GIVE HIM YOUR SUPPORT

Don't worry. It's always about Hillary first and foremost. She gonna pay herself back and then find a way to screw Penn out of his fees. Poor Penn. But he knew that's the nature of the beast which is why he was billing like a lawyer.

Hillary Clinton is no better than Rush Limbaugh, she is exploiting the fears and the ignorance of the less educated. Then she turns around and begs them for money, this is a state where 1 in 6 families is on welfare, the highest in the nation.

Poor Hillary, the smart and the educated people see her for what she really is.

This is a big fact that shows how crazy it goes on when a very obstinate leader goes and goes no matter if she destroys her party or 100 millions or more US Americans citizens. The applaud goes to Hillary – for being the most irresponsible leader of the 21st century (not only by driving her campaign in bankruptcy but also losing respect among the majority of Americans peoples, voting for Change)

An angry gender like Hillary can be dangerous when She loose her control – So be nice with a looser and give her an applaud in order to decrease her damages. But keep in mind Peoples got the POWER

Great leaders don’t always have a plan, but they have a vision. When Kennedy said that he wanted a man on the moon in the next ten years. There was nothing but snickers and naysayers, but America accomplished the goal. When Nixon (as flawed as the ending years of his presidency was) said he would meet with our enemies, and he was revered for reaching Détente with Russia.
Experience is great. We wouldn’t be where we are as a country if it weren’t on the backs of those who came before us. But Judgement and Vision are necessary ingredients for someone to command a nation. If you put John Glenn, one of the most experienced astronauts of all time, on a space shuttle today with all of the modern computer technology, he’d be lost.

For all of Hillary’s experience, it was her misjudgment, not just on the war in Iraq, but in misjudging the abilities and desire of her opponent that has cost her this election. Ask yourselves this: Do you want this country to be represented by someone who did just enough to not get fired, or the candidate who showed up to the office early and stayed late to make sure that the job was done.

The sad thing is this was her race to lose and she lost it. If you want a racial analogy, here ya go. Back in June 2007 Hillary was the Harlem Globetrotters and Barack was the Washington Generals. All Globetrotters had to do was show up and it was a hundred point beat down. But a strange thing happened, the harlem globetrotters stopped going to the gym working on their game and the Washington Generals worked tirelessly to get better. It’s almost a year later and the Generals have not only caught up to the Globetrotters, they’re beating them. Now everyone who had money on the Globetrotters are mad as hell.

Barack shouldn’t have won this race. No one knew who he was. He was a first term senator. He has a crazy name. He was going against a woman who is married to one of the most revered names in the Democratic Party. But he did what great leaders do, he assembled a team and went out there and hustled for every vote and every dollar. They cultivated volunteers from every corner of the United States. They looked at the face of the impossible, defeating the Clinton machine, and didn’t blink.

I've had a basketball analogy playing in my head for some time too. There was this great basketball player named Larry Bird. He was a champion and a prolific scorer. Many people thought he was going to be the greatest of all time.

And then Michael Jordan came along.

For me Bill Clinton is Larry Bird (sorry Larry) and Obama is #23 of course!! Nobody thought anyone could beat the Clinton political machine and this guy came out of nowhere and took them out. It's an amazing story.

This takes creating a plan, organizing troops, balancing budgets, building a great team, overcoming unforeseen obstacles, dealing under great pressure and duress, getting others to see your vision (sounds like all the qualifications of being The President). If you don’t accomplish any one of those things then you won’t win the Presidency (unless your brother is the governor of Florida, but that’s a whole different story). It may feel a little bit like I’m stating the obvious, but looking at ferocity of the Clinton Supporters I think these points needed to be reiterated.

Very simply put, Hillary Clinton wasn’t ready from DAY ONE of the Presidency.

Her volunteer base is smaller than Barack’s.
Her Donor Base is smaller than Barack’s.
Her voter numbers are lower than Barack’s.

Here is how Lord Prince Obama has done pallie:

He lost in OH

He lost in TX

He lost in PA

He lost in IN

He lost in NY

He lost in MA

He lost in CA

He lost in MI

He lost in FL

Your guy has lost: the white vote, the Reagan Democrat vote, the Hispanic Vote, the Asian Vote, the over 60 vote and the female vote.

Wow REALLY qualified to be Prezzie. WOW he's a first term Senator who hasn't got a fucking clue how to talk to anyone not like his demographic.

You think that's gonna work well in the Fall?! HA! Nice.

Get ready to see Lord Prince Obama choke in KY, too.

That you include Michigan in you list about says it all. But why stop at those states and not include them all? You just might get a clearer view of the future. And if you want omens, I invite you to look at the results of yesterday's vote in Mississippi if you think Obama will lose in the Fall. Even Cheney, the Prince of Republican Darkness himself, couldn't save the day. You're done for no matter how many specious arguments you drag out. Stock up on your Depends, because you're going to need them.

Ready from Day One.

It’s the Rallying cry of every Clinton supporter I’ve ever talked to.

The truth is Hillary WASN’T ready from day one…

Let’s step back a moment. If you want to be an Astronaut, DAY ONE isn’t when you land on the moon. DAY ONE is when you enter the Training Program and you’re competing against the 50 or so other candidates that also want to go to the moon. Every moment from that point on decides whether or not you will actually be effective once you’re millions of miles away and out of NASA’s direct control. They put you through tests to make sure that you are able to use correct judgement because once you’re in outerspace every decision you make is worth millions of dollars and has life or death consequences.

The Presidency of the United States of America is the same way. There’s a long primary session so that there will be enough time for all of the voters to look at and decide whether or not the candidates are worthy of taking the top prize. There are three main challenges along the way:

- 3) Creating a coalition of Volunteers.
- 2) Building an effective Donor Base and allocating those resources effectively.
- 1) Getting more people to vote for you than for your opponents.

What's with the people of WV? Are they REALly a bunch of uneducated hillbillies (as the media implies) so gullible as to swallow Hillary's pack of lies? I can't believe nobody thinks there, but it does seem rather short sighted to vote for the candidate who can't win legitimately. Wouldn't it be more productive to support our obvious nominee?

Or is it really racism? I'm sure there are people who voted for Hill who are not racists. But consider this, if you are a racist you're not gonna vote for Obama, right?

I couldn't believe HIllary actually appealed to racists with her "hardworking WHITE people". That is so blatant there's no room for doubt. She played right into the fear and suspicion rife in Appalachia.

So, this outcome will give Hillary 18 and Obama 10 more pledged delegates, if I am informed correctly. Wow, a landslide. The World is turned upside down. Or - is it not...?

In fact, Hillary Clinton has now closed the gap to Barack Obama A FULL 1,2 PERCENT! I am humbled and flabbergasted! If she can continue this incredible run-up from behind, she will have caught and overtaken Sen. Obama in delegates in Mid-2009.

Oh, wait: The GE is in November '08, already? Bugger...!

Actually with the supers that pledged to Obama this week, she is actually falling further back. It's going to take 70% wins in all the rest of the states to even make a difference.

A number of Obama fans responded to my observation that West Virginia evidences his inability to sway key constituencies. Some rudely characterized them as uneducated Whites, racists, etc. My post was not an argument for Clinton. My point was that Obama would need every vote to win the general election if he is the Democratic nominee and he surely would agree. These constituencies represent a problem for Obama in key states such as Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Many Obama supporters here are absolutely vicious and childish. Even if Clinton is not the nominee I may yet vote for Obama though I have a number of issues with matters such as his health care plan, Exelon, NAFTA, the Senate immigration compromise bill, etc. Obama supporters should realize they do not win any friends by being rude towards Clinton and they risk alienating potential votes . Besides, it subverts Obama's message of unity.

I suspect the general election with Obama as the Democratic candidate would be a lot closer than anyone would think at this point. Here is a link to a page (click on the link just below the State of Florida on the map) on a website that is fairly popular and take a look at the link on how Obama would match up against McCain.

http://www.electoral-vote.com/

By the way, I think the web site's sponsor is an Obama supporter!

You are making good points and we are working on it. But you cannot deny the fact that, it was Sen. Clinton to start throwing kitchen sinks towards Sen. Obama during the campaign for nomination.

How did she put itso vividly? "If you can't stand the heat, don't enter the kitchen!"

Well, Sen. Clinton was the one who cranked up the oven to maximum heat during her campaigning. Therefore, the heat her supporters are exposed to now and then, is more to be attributed to HER, as it is to HIM.

"If you can't stand the heat, don't enter the kitchen!" This goes both ways, Sen. Clinton.

I see your point and agree that the retoric got a bit heated between the candidates. And if the candidates were on this site the comments here would make sense. BUT THEY ARE NOT. How about everyone take a bit of personal responsibility for their own comments. If they are truely representing their candidate then they should try to sound like it. Otherwise they are just bring down and smearing their own candidate.

I really don't care either way, go ahead and tear each other up.

McCain '08
