McClatchy Newspapers:

Hillary Clinton clobbered Barack Obama in West Virginia Tuesday, but her late win in a small state likely did little to slow rival Barack Obama's march toward the Democratic presidential nomination.

Clinton won the overwhelmingly white state in a walk -- by a landslide margin of 2-1, according to exit polls -- and used the results to argue that Americans shouldn't count her out yet.

"After tonight's tremendous victory here in West Virginia, it's clear that the pundits declaring this race over have it all wrong. The voters in West Virginia spoke loud and clear -- they want this contest to go on," Clinton said in a message e-mailed to supporters Tuesday evening.

"I'm going to carry the energy of tonight's victory into the next contests in Kentucky and Oregon. ...You have worked your heart out, put yourself on the line for what you believe in and given generously. And I'm not about to turn my back on you."

Those crooked caucus wins in West Jabip are vital.
Hundreds of thousands in West Virginia...don't matter.
Hope David Axelrod and Barry enjoy watching McSame win.

Those same caucuses were also vital to Bill Clinton. Twice. I'm amazed that you waited until today to point out the fact that they were crooked. Your utter irresponsibility to keep America abreast of this thing meant that the loser of those primary campaigns should have been in the White House instead. Shame on you for not having come forward sooner. Shame! By the way, have you seen the results from yesterday's election in Mississippi? It's not looking good for the Republicans. Third loss of an hereditary seat in a row. I'd say warn them, but they seem to be under the delusion that Cheney helps an election and Obama hinders it. Go figure.

HILLARY TROLLS NOW INFEST THIE BLOGS JUST LIKE BUSH TROLLS DID.... IT'S SO WEIRD.

It's so weird .. the same troll like comments that used to be coming from Bush lovers is now coming from Hillary supporters. All the main progressive media and talk personalities are supporting Obama because Hillary has turned out to be a freak. Meanwhile Hillary supporters are up in arms against other Democrats who support Obama ....

Hillary and her rabid throng are responsible for running a despicable negative smear campaign while claiming Obama is the one being dishonest ... It's disgusting and those of us who have had to deal with Bush creeps are sick of the mind set of these losers. Hillary is a Washington insider conservative who expected to get this nomination .... Obama has run an amazing campaign, trouncing the Clinton brand name recognition with superior management skills and fundamental truths.

Hillary speaks about doing the right thing but is hampered by her actions and her record ... she voted for the war and to support BUsh every step and she voted for the bankruptcy bill .... all I nned to know who she really is .... Hillary trolls I know there is no reasoning with you .... I know this from 8 years of dealing with the Bush trolls.

This state cost the Clintons. I speck they are into big debt! It is a known fact that votes cost in WVA. Due to the socio economic factor there has to be a cost for every vote. They paid dearly for that overwhelming vote there. Watch the new deficit.

Also, when you have three people and their entourage campaigning for you, Bill in one place, Chelsea in another and Hillary in a third venue, that's costly... There is far too much of the 'old' politics as usual in play here, and if they run the Country the way they have run this campaign, and not do the math... Somthing is seriously wrong with their reasoning.

The big day will be Thursday when Billary needs to pay her staff or not. I bet she is not paying their health care premiums. When you put the pieces together since she loaned her campaign $11.4MM by the end of April and they claimed they were in $10MM in April she is probably close to $30MM in debt.

The Clintons
have set back race relations 50 years in the South and gave the green light to republicans to say it is ok to be racist. Hillary has ruined her career in the bid for the white house. How she campaigns from here on out will determine if she even gets eleected to another term of the Senate.

PROGRESSIVETHOUGHT: your name doesn't suit your small-mindedness. You make a blanket statement about 'race relatoins' as if you understand the subject. You do not. Clinton has not ruined her career; as a matter of fact: because of her balls and guts, Barack Obama has to fight for something that was going to be handed to him by the media and politicians. She has made him a stronger candidate by challenging him, by showing him how to fight for a cause, by demonstrating how you win a general election. He owes her a DEBT OF GRATITUDE, because until she made him fight to win, he had no fire in the belly, he did not get into ANY specifics of policy, and he certainly didn't speak to nor relate to middle to lower-income voters of any creed. He will be lucky to beat McCain, and I think he has alot of work to do to graduate from an "inspiring" figure to someone who gets down and dirty and rolls his sleeves. Clinton has proved, late in the campaign, that she can stand on her own and doesn't need the baggage created by Bill Clinton. I daresay the next woman who decides to run for President will have some tall shoes to fill.

So just because they don't have a college degree or high school diploma that automatically makes them dumb? Maybe these people are smarter than you give them credit for. Maybe they are self-educated and therefore smarter because they aren't being 'dumbed' down by our traditional educational system. Attending high school and college doesn't guarantee that one will be smart. Just read "Dumbing Us Down -- The Hidden Curriculum of Compulsory Schooling" by John Taylor Gatto, a NYC school teacher for almost 30 years, and you'll see what I mean.

So what are you saying? That educated people are racist?

The problem is, the people of WVA voted for mostly the wrong reasons - mostly against the black guy, but also FOR Bill Clinton, who is not running - rather than for the person most likely to help them or the person who tells the truth and has ethics.

It is generally considered ignorant to BE racist, as thinking people soon see the stupidity of it. Since the education figures are as low as the bigot vote was high, we begin to think there is something to this.

No, uneducated does not necessarily mean "stupid" for sure - but educated people are more likely to look at themselves, others, and the world around them in critical and objective terms, because that is a taught skill.

Really, that's all this election tells you. I hate the term Reagan Democrats. Do theese people actually exist? reagan was one of our worst presidents ever. He took the national debt from a small liability to a huge problem for future generations, making the currrent administration think it was ok. This led to the debasement of our currency. He also started us down the road of this de-regulated free-market disaster that we are currently living through. 25 years of reaganomics has torn the middle class apart. Does anyone really still think of themselves this way?

I'm proud of my education. I have spent most of my life staying up late at night, studying, reading, and being totally dedicated to making a better way for myself. I'm tired of the uneducated making it look like being smart is a curse. Obama is a self-made man. Everything he and Michelle have they earned. There are no silver spoons. They should be proud of their accomplishments. Those same uneducated whites who think Obama is an elitist had the same, if not better, opportunities, and they CHOSE not to take advantage of it.

Am I an elitist? Nope, because I remember where I came from, and so do most educated, well off people. Why else would we vote for someone who is going to raise OUR TAXES? My boyfriend is a truck driver, and he is one of the smartest people I know. He also loves his job. That's the key-to be happy in whatever you do. It doesn't take a degree to be smart, but everyone has a lot in life, a purpose, and the key is to accept responsibility.

I say to all the nerds and eggheads on this site, stand up and be proud. People are dumb by choice.

I'm an Obama supporter- congratulations to Senator Clinton's win in West Virginia tonight.

She should be permitted to continue campaigning until a nominee has been officially decided.

Obama supporters; don't take the bait- the media's calls for her to drop out will only further divide our party- let her keep competing. As members of the democratic party (or even as Obama supporters) we should insist on enfranchising as many people as possible- let all the votes be counted.

Clinton supporters; I'm sorry if the media and even a few over zealous Obama supporters have agitated you. The calls for your candidate to drop out are not indicative of what Senator Obama has advocated. This has been a well fought contest and regardless of what happens Obama supporters look forward to joining with you to defeat McCain.

Hey a big win is a big win for Clinton. Will she give Obama credit for his big wins now? I don't care if she stays in the race as long as she keeps the positive tone she had this week, but Obama needs to hit the pavement in OR and KY this week. He has a good lead in OR which he needs to keep and he should try to chip away at some of Hillary's lead in KY.

What positive tone?

She spent the week dissing Obama in WVA.

She needs to run on HER strengths, not HIS "weaknesses" that she manufactures, if she wants people to stop asking her to step down.

So far I havent' seen that. I saw her stoke racsim and pander to bigots, telling them that Obama is :laughing at them: while she plays on their stupidity and prejudice to cop a cheap win. Now, the rest of the country and the world watching is laughing at them for showing just how gullible and racist they are.

Obama already hit the pavement in Oregon--he was here over the weekend and gave a kickass speech in Bend (it's on Youtube).

Bend is a small area, less than 100,000 people. The day before the speech tickets were being handed out at his HQ on a first come, first serve basis. I kid you not, for as small as this area is, the line for tickets stretched more than 6 blocks.

I, too, support Obama and have since january. Having recently voted in the IN primary, I can tell you as a state that has not been in play since 1968 that it was a great expereince to feel like you are part of something so important, so much bigger than yourself. We should not take that experience away from the remaining five primary states.

So, as long as Clinton can refrain from personal attacks on our man, then I see no problem with her going on. In fact, I think it helps the party as we have had record turnout in nearly every state.

According to Democratic Convention Watch, Obama picked up 5 supers today - woulda been 6 except one is from MI and they don't count -- yet. Let's see, that means he's picked up more supers since Friday than HRC garnered from her BIG WV win tonight.

Well, that's not entirely true. WV was worth 27 delegates. If she won 2-to-1 that means she got 18 and Obama got 9.

Still, a net gain of 4 delegates over Obama for the day is hardly what I'd consider a "big win"

I think the "unvote" comments are worth serious consideration. How many people (and I count myself among them) started out supporting Clinton several months ago, but have since switched? Whether it was her stirring attempts at: race-baiting, nuclear annihilation, class warfare, acting as McCain's campaign strategist or simply dragging the contest through the gutter via the GOP/Rove form guide (not necessarily in that order), I would hazard a guess that a significant proportion of earlier supporters have switched. permanently. Going back and polling those electorates could provide some interesting data.

Aww well good luck with that dear, something tells me you were never for Obama. It's ok tho, I'm sure Clinton will love to have your vote in 2016.

Lemme guess... you're now for Clinton because she's so honest, fair, and trustworthy. Yeah... I'll believe you were an Obama supporter when you learn how to turn off the caps lock.

I'm one of them. Thankfully NC didn't vote early. Sadly, a lot of early states like CA can't take back thier votes. My understanding is if CA voted now, Obama would win.

Include me as one of those switching. From my perspective, Senator Clinton, and her husband, have done more to undermine the contribution Senator Obama has made to the Dems than anyone else. I feel the Clinton's pain. It is time to grow up and unite the party.
