Lebron

LeBron James gave it to his mother Monday night during a game against the Boston Celtics. It appears he told her to "Sit yo *$*% down." Watch the video below - James' mother jumps up and tries to get between her son and a bunch of Boston Celtics when they fall into the crowd. Underneath the video is a longer description of what happened from USA Today.

Ms. James came roaring into the action in the second quarter when her son was wrapped up on a breakaway dunk attempt by Paul Pierce.

Kevin Garnett tried to calm her down, but it was LeBron who got the job done.

"I told her to sit down, in some language I shouldn't have used," James said. "Thank God today wasn't Mother's Day. All I could think about is her. ... I know my mother. It's fine, we're good."

I love my mom with all my heart, but c'mon... SIT YER ASS DOWN MA!!! This is the playoffs and you're in KG's grill!!

He was high in adrenaline. He probably meant to say: "Mom, please, for your own safety, stay away from these big guys." People yell. Isn't that so Bill O'Reilly?

My mom would of whooped my ass up and down the court if I talked like that too her. I've played sports adn was in teh Army and as mad as I've gotten, I never cursed at my mom. Sometimes, Lebron makes me sick. I am loving how Pierce and Garnett kept their cool.

KG is a class act all the way!!!

But his mom shouldn't have been on the court. It could have caused a fine or a violation for his team.

LOL....my Mom threatened to "cut off my arm and beat me to death with the bloody end", just for an eyeroll. Heaven help me if I had ever cursed at her!!!

Well another oneof my prematurely celebrated heros....bites the dust.. He ain't Kobe (not crazy about Kobe personally, but respect his talent and consistency)....and he SURE AS HELL...ain't Michael.

The playoffs are a litmus test. It is therein....we see who's got it....and who aint.

He's very close in talent to Kobe and MJ. He'll be 'there' in a year or 3. Believe it.

LeBron has it.

Why he said what he did? I know this sounds like a cop out for LJ but...........if you've never played competitive sports, much less the NBA (professional) playoffs, you're not going to understand.

Testosterone (and a zillion other biochemical action/reactions) - learn it/'em. It wrecks havoc at inopportune times. :-) Ignore his comment. It's not 'him'. Really. "Heat of the moment" type thing. He's ok.

I admit I am estrogen saturated; I admit I do not even resemble Dennis in a dress. But I also know that both Kobe And MJ and all the other real superstars---INCLUDING RODMAN... in the league are/were very hard workers, deliberate, grounded and, even the the heat of bad calls from refs and the normal going off that is inevitable...do not do what James is doing.

I also hope you are right. Of course, I am a southpaw, so were I an NBA player I probably couldn't even GO right. lol

If Lebron could shoot he would be one of the great players of all time!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:58 PM on 05/13/2008

He can shoot and shoot your lights out.

It'll only get better as time goes on. It almost always does.......Barring disastrous injury (always a concern).

Remember Kobe? Remember a zillion others (could go on and on and on)? The ONE thing that almost always improves, is their outside shot. Even at that, if his outside shot never improved (not all bad as it stands), LJ is 2nd / 3rd best in the NBA and will be for some time to come. He's a great, well rounded player. And that is an understatement.

Your right, he can shoot that long distance three, but what he has to master is that mid range game. And it will come, think about what he has accomplished in 5 years playing with no help or all star beside him. Lebron is a beast on the court, and the best is yet to come.

Well, if my mom came to my workplace and yelled at my rival co-worker I'd tell her to butt out.

that idiot who fouled him should be kicked out of the game.

Then what was his mom doing charging into it? To protect LeBron? So when will LeBron be able to protect himself? KG is very right. These day mothers are more like mothers from hell. If you love something you should let go when the time comes and some being an embarrassment to that object.

"that idiot who fouled him should be kicked out of the game."

Cute, KG (Kevin Garnett?) But, that was a minor type of intentional foul in this day and age. No biggy. No harm - no foul. Keep playing, although I agree in the future they SHOULD do away with this type of foul, starting DAY ONE of the new season. (key phrase - day one of new season) Do away with this - along with 2 other - really egregious fouls

1) jumping underneath a 'skying' dunk/layup/shot and get the charge call. Good god, this is stupidity beyond belief. The NBA HAS to get rid of this sh*t. Please?

2) The Flop - get rid of it. Punish the flopper

I definitely do agree that RULES should not be changed midseason.

Next season they can change the rules, not half-way through.

hmmm, what does that remind me of?

What was she thinking?? I mean its not like she's gonna be able to, or even should try to, get in the middle of a shoving match between 3 or 4 professional male athletes. LeBron might have been a little harsh, but he was right to tell her to sit down. His head was in the game and in the moment, she shouldn't have gotten involved.

I agree the964kid, but I am 43 years old and I rather run through fire with gasoline underware on before I curse at my mom because either way it sucide for me. And that includes if she is in the wrong. I believe we should respect our parents enough not to curse for any reason. But sometime things happens and I'm sure he apologize to his mother and made it clear to her that she need to let him handle his own problems.

It's a good thing Lebron's mom isn't Sue Simmons, or she'd have some choice words to throw back at him.

My son would never ever talk to me like that. He'd say something like "Mom, what are you doing!" "You're embarrassing me?" But never would he say "Sit your ass down!" Geez.

If he was my son, I would have slapped him silly. In the moment of anger. Disrespectful bastard.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:06 PM on 05/13/2008

Whoa, whoa, whoa. "Disrespectful bastard"? That woman had absolutely NO business getting involved in a PROFESSIONAL sporting event. What is this, Little League? He's a grown man! He was in the heat of a championship playoff game, with adrenaline running high. I think any player in that position might be just a bit snippy if their mom decided to get involved on a national stage. If you ask me, it was she who was completely disrespectful, although I'd probably use a much harsher word if I wasn't sure it would offend your Leave It to Beaver ears.

To those of you that need an introduction, Lebron James IS a CLASS ACT and should be given a pass on this one. It was an intense moment in the play-offs and he showed remorse from his comments afterwards.

txgal44 "Mom, what are you doing! You're embarrassing me"???? You must be kidding. Are you comparing Lebron playing Pro ball to a 7 year-old playing T-Ball.

No my boy's are not 7 year-olds playing T-ball. They're young men who've been raised to be respectful. We don't say "Sit your ass down" to our mothers. Never. I don't care how old Lebron is. He should not speak to his Mom that way. I don't care who is is!

SOSSAcuse, do you have children? I've been a mother a long time, and I would highly recommend that you teach your children respect under any circumstances.

Lebron, I'm sure, is regretting his choice of words. I'd bet on it.

That is because he has never seen you in real danger and had the sense of urgency to protect you. Ugly words are there in our culture because they are effective and do their job.

She was wrong to get in the middle like that and being in the moment he used the only words that came to mind to express his concern for her safety.
You can't expect these guys to adopt a mindset where winning is everything and then expect for them to display good manners on a moments notice.

She needs to apologize for breaking his concentration and forcing him to suddenly put her on his radar screen. Either one of them could have been injured.

Take it from a mom with grown sons, you have to learn when to let go and respect them for the adults that they are.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:28 PM on 05/13/2008

Respecting him as a adult or letting go has nothing to do with it. That is still her child no matter how old he gets. And that is still his mother and no matter what she did he had no right to disrespect his mother under any circumstances. What he said to her was totally out of line, shameful and disrespectful. The bible says to honor thy mother and thy father, thy days will be long upon the earth. He was wrong, plain and simple. No justification for it, none.

He was just trying to protect his mom....this is funniest ish I've seen in awhile though....if you can't understand the heat of the moment then you've never played sports......he wanted her off the court so she wouldn't get involved in any mess....simple as that....the man is uber close to his mom...some of yall need to get a grip.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:59 PM on 05/13/2008

F that young un I have a son and I wish he or his daddy (my husband) would speak to me in that manner under any circumstances. “Ma please sit down”, with tone would have sufficed. Billon dollar man or one dollar baby…he had better get a grip.

Pioneer King, what type of behavior are you referring to? People don't get paid to yell at their mom.
They get paid to play basketball.

Besides, you don't know about Lebron's relationship with his mom. She had him when she was fifteen, he's an only child and she was a single mother. He loves her, but c'mon! They party together, fercryinoutloud! If he had said it to his big sister (in the heat of a highly charged emotional moment), would it be such a big deal?

What's really humorous is after he does it, the commentator then goes on to verbally lick LaBron's backside as long as he possibly can. If a player is already famous, then why waste words sucking up to him already? Most folks are curious about the other guys out there that get no such lipservice. Sports hacks are so much easier to tell apart from news hacks...all you have to do is listen for 3 minutes and if all he's doing is kissing up to the most famous players, you know he doesn't know what he's talking about.
