If sex sells, Woody Allen has struck cinematic gold with his next feature, "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," debuting at the Cannes Festival. The movie stars Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz, Rebecca Hall and Javier Bardem. Below is the trailer, which features (see screen grabs below) almost every combination of the actors in a lip lock, including Penelope and Scarlett (about 1:10 in).

"Perhaps the staff at Huffington have double standards and are selectively homophobic towards the male-male interaction."

Wrong. People don't want to see male-male action because many of the site's goers are male, and those guys would rather see female-female action. It's a business trying to attract as much traffic as it can, so please stop looking into this further than it needs.

I'm female and I don't like to look at men kissing each other - it makes me uncomfortable. I know people here are going to say I'm homophobic but I'm not going to lie about it.

I don't think gay men should be discriminated against in any way or treated differently at work than other people so I don't consider myself homophobic.

Woody used to be my idol... now he just kinda creeps me out. I haven't liked anything since Small Time Crooks.

Match Point was very good.

Match Point is similar to The Player, which was a great film and great cinema, Match Point, not really.

two same sex people kissing does not a news story make.

I've also noticed how Huffington Post advertises female-female kisses and not male-male kisses. Perhaps the staff at Huffington have double standards and are selectively homophobic towards the male-male interaction.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:45 AM on 05/14/2008

Or maybe male-male interaction is just inherently creepy to most people.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:32 AM on 05/14/2008

Inherently? To most people? Just insecure heterosexual men actually.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:52 AM on 05/14/2008

I don't know what to say to that. I'm not an "insecure heterosexual male". I'm very open-minded and will even admit that when I was going through puberty asked myself, as most men do, whether or not I found men attractive. For me the answer was a clear no and I was very sure of my liking for females. I don't have many gay friends but I do know some and despite all of this I still see male-male interaction as a little creepy and a little strange. I don't think its a insecurity issue, so much as a preference issue.

What? No male-male kiss? Surely another example of Woody Allen's double standards! This double standard is typical of liberals everywhere. Female-female kisses are included, male-male ones are banned. Sort of like mainstream porn movies. Woody Allen falls under the category of "sleazeball".

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:40 AM on 05/14/2008

I caught the irony of you calling Allen a 'sleazeball' while professing to have an intimate knowledge of mainstream porn. Very funny.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:11 AM on 05/14/2008

That's not intimate knowledge. That's common knowledge, reported on everywhere. It's probably even been discussed on the Tyra Banks show.

Haaaaaaaa!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 09:22 AM on 05/14/2008

This is an old chestnut that still brings in the rubes. When "established" actresses do kissyface, people go bonkers. This is hardly soft core porn. You've should realize that there have been mainstream flicks that have thrown in the hard stuff like "The Brown Bunny" with Chloe Sevigny doing some sword swallowing. It's all make believe folks. Don't litter on your way out of the theater.

Where's the religious right condemning homosexuality? Oh, not so bad when women do it, eh?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:42 AM on 05/14/2008

The bible only condemns men doin' it with men. Not so much as a peep out of the bible about girl-on-girl action. The religious right's bigotry towards lesbians is all their own doing. No biblical fig-leaf to hide behind on that score. As an aside, the next offense down after boy-on-boy action is a prohibition against doing your woman when she's on the rag. Punishment to be banishment from the community. Funny how the Jesus freaks are strangely silent on that prohibition.

The religious right, like the liberal left, only condemns male homosexuality, not female homosexuality. You'll notice this in many aspects of society.where homosexuality is portrayed. In this regard, the religious right and the liberal left are like bedfellows.

Hey, just be thankful he didn't put himself in again as the leading man. That would really be an "ick" factor.

And now you know why they call him "Woody".

Scarlett doing Penelope? Yeah I'll go see that. Better if it had been Scarlett and Salma Hayek.

Oh well.

Porn? Kissing is porn now? You religious people need to grow up.

Besides, this is in the "Entertainment" category of the website. If you want news, do not click on "Entertainment."

fds,

"Porn? Kissing is porn now? You religious people need to grow up."

I guess, with the religious right, as long as it's hidden, such as in a men's room, it's not porn.

Huff Porn. No wonder no one takes the Left seriously.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:42 PM on 05/13/2008

The right prefers hiding their porn, or better yet making their own in dirty airport bathrooms. I think I prefer Scarlett and Penelope over dirty old republican senators.

Don't you just love the rightwing nutters like Wired who claim to speak for all people. AND if no one takes us seriously....why are you here?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:32 PM on 05/13/2008

...and why would a guy with a name like "wiredwilly" object to porn?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:27 AM on 05/14/2008

I don't. I object to porn on a Political Web site more or less devoted to giving credibility to Progressive issues. Huffington Post presenting itself as the National Enquirer doesn't help end the War in Iraq. Having lived through the Viet Nam War, Nixon, Reagan, Bush, the Gulf War, Bush, 9 /11 and the Iraq War, I'm a bit fed up with the Left having the political sophistication of some Circus Clown with big feet wearing a red nose. The election coming up puts Ms. Huffington's comments about John McCain in the public eye and you can guarantee conservatives will be checking out the site. The election of even a moderate , pro War candidate like Clinton or Obama ( Obama isn't against War, he's just for fighting in Afghanistan not Iraq ) isn't a lock, much less someone with a brain like Kucinich or Ron Paul. McCain will play Ms. Huffington like a violin and we will get 4 more years of War thanks to Democratic bickering and thoughtless use of the Media by Progressives.

Does anyone else think the female characters in his movies are kind of...pathetic? Maybe that isn't the right word for it but there is something about the way he portrays women in his films that I don't like.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:15 PM on 05/13/2008

Either you're kidding or haven't seen many of his films.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:24 AM on 05/14/2008

I think Woody Allen is the pathetic party, rather than the women. He has an obvious obsession with young beautiful women in a very FLDS sort of way. A man that would marry a girl whom he raised is simply a dirty old man living vicariously through his films. Ew.
