West Virginia Primary: Good Morning America Meets An Uninformed Voter

Good Morning America, on the scene in West Virginia, introduced their viewers to Janis. She's not a particularly enthusiastic Hillary Clinton supporter, but for her, Hillary has got one thing on Barack Obama: she's not a Muslim. Of course, neither is Obama.

[WATCH.]

KATE SNOW: Janis said she can't support Obama.

JANIS: He's Muslim and that has a lot to do with it. I just, you know, I just would rather have Hillary.

SNOW: Just for the record he constantly says he's a Christian -

JANIS: I know he does.

SNOW: You don't believe him?

JANIS: No.

Now, it's hardly newsworthy to learn that stupid people exist and they do, in fact, vote. I mean, we have this whole thing called "the Bush Administration" that more or less proves that. But it's a little astounding to hear Kate Snow, who, as a reporter, is ostensibly charged with informing the public, offer up the mealy mouthed, "Just for the record, he constantly says he's a Christian..." As Snow well knows, there's a reason that Obama constantly says he's a Christian: it is because he is a Christian. The correct response would have been, "I'm sorry, but you are mistaken." Or, failing that, at least show us a voter capable of making a passionate and authoritative case for Clinton.

Obama has two sisters and about six brothers...what difference does it make? Does McCain have any brothers or sisters? How about Hillary? Exaxtly! He was wise not to spend a lot of time where he would not have won even if he had walked on water. People argue that all the 67% of the black vote he won in MS was racism is no different than the 66% of the white vote Clinton won in WV. There is huge difference...blacks have always voted for the white democrate and MS blacks will vote Clinton in Nov. if she gets the nomiation. Those 66% WV whites will not vote for him in Nov. He needs to spend that time making it up elsewhere. It is what it is.

Janis just can't bring herself to say she can't vote for Obama because he's a black man, so she uses the Muslin excuse. Clinton saying 'as far as I know' about Senator Obama not being a Muslin opened the door for this lame excuse. It's ironic that a whole state of people that failed to achieve the stereotypical dream of getting a good education and job, seem determined for us to have the same broken system with the same broken politicians. Instead of saying "he says he is a christian"?, the reporter had to say" he is a christian"!. We all honestly know that the reason for her not to vote for Obama is because he is black, she just needed to have something to not vote for the black candidate. If that is the case I should not vote for a christian because they molest and rape little children. What I am trying to say is that there is good and there is bad in every religion historically and we should not disriminate against either, or. We live in a country where freedom of religion is a creed written into our constitution. We need a president who defends our constitution, not walk allover it like the Bush administration. That is a great reason why stupid people should not vote. Please read a book about history and our constitution, try to implant some knowledge into your brain before you make a decision, like voting.

Why is Obama so secretive about his muslim ties? Most people on this site do not Know that Obama's family in Africa is muslim. He is a lot closer to them than the media lets on . His brother Malik was his best man and vice versa. Obama's campaign sent Dick Morris over to Kenya to help his cousin Raila Odinga in the Kenyan elections. Odinga is a Marxist whose son's name is Fidel Castro Odinga. These associations are what is feeding the Obama is a Muslim argument.

(a) 'Obama is a muslim' is not an argument, whether it is true or false.

(b) 'Obama is a muslim' is false.

(c) Whether or not someone is a muslim is irrelevant to whether or not he or she would be a good president.

(d) Most muslims are peaceful people and quite nice, I might add. Just because a few of them did and do horrible things should not force us to draw the conclusion that they are all like that. Many Christians have done and do horrible things in the name of Christianity. Many atheists have done and do horrible things. So what?

But as a nation, we allow regions like WV to wallow in poverty and ignorance. We could fund high qualtity schools and change this in a generation. For as much good Christians or any other faith has done the world, perhaps it would be best we elect an atheist rock as president. This article is about the irresponsible interviewer, not the ignorant/racist old woman. Saying "but he always says he is a christian" only give more credence to the smear. It's like saying "but OJ said he didn't do it" rather than "he was found innocent and acquited". The former only reinforces the conviction of the uninformed.

Considering the coverage that is pastor's controversy got, the least expected from any honest newsperson (or anybody for that matter) is a definite "HE IS A CHRISTIAN" in response to this lie.

It is seems WVa is about 6 months behind the rest of the country in termsof getting information but I think their holding on to "he is a muslim" smear is their not-very-smart way of saying "I WON'T VOTE FOR HIM BECAUSE HE IS BLACK".

I put my money on the latter. But if it's the former, WVa really need help.
