Lieberman

Think Progress:

On right-winger Bill Bennett's radio show this morning, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) expressed his openess to bombing Iran, saying that there is "an appeal to it." Discussing the West Virginia primary results, Bennett praised what he claimed was Sen. Hillary Clinton's (D-NY) transformation into his "style" of politician, which he said is someone who "throws down a shot of liquor and bombs Iran."

Lieberman whole-heartedly endorsed the "appeal" of the hawkish caricature Bennett had created:

Wow ... the more this campaign unfolds the more obvious the need for "change" becomes ... its difficult for many people because neurological pathways become re-enforced over and over again .. but, the anachronism that is Lieberman and McCain is shocking .. the world has changed. Bad people still exist, but logic in how to manage foreign policy/economic/humanitarian crises should prevail .. and, imo, the more Lieberman and McCain preen like aging roosters gilded in armor, the more we know that we must turn the page ...

There is nothing appealing in Joe Lieberman.

According to the standards of the Nuernberg war crimes tribunal, Senator Lieberman is a war criminal.

But they really took great consideration of the sacrifice and cost of sending people to war, right?

Bush supporters really need to read history. Sending people to war has historically been the most flippant, and costly expedition humans have ever engaged in. And strangely enough, the ones that are so flippant about sending others off to die, (as well as the ones who profit), from a war are the ones that decide to send people off to war.

How anyone could be supportive of this administration's policies after what Lie'berman has said, and after Bush's claim to have given up golf as his sacrifice, really need to stop voting.

McCain has been hiding his medical report for years now...you don't hide something unless it's bad news.Which means that if McCain becomes President and Lieberman is his VP, chances are highly likely that McCain will not survive his term of office probably because of metastases from malignant melanoma and we will then have President Lieberman to bomb every country in the world. Be VERY afraid. You can just see him frothing at the mouth.

he will not bomb every country in the world just he ones his masters in israel want him to bomb.

like muslim countries and most americans are so brainwashed about israel that they will go along with it.

we now pay israel 5 billion a year not to bomb egypt. and not a peep from brainwashed americans.

It's unconscionable how much of our foreign policy is directed toward the interests of the nation of Israel at the expense of America's own interests.

America. The best government money can buy.

That would be Gamblin Man Bill Bennett. The Democratic leadership needs to shut him up. No more Holy Joe chairmanship, no more power. Any media outlet who pays him to show up and spout his hate and his threats needs to be boycotted.

Lieberman was responding to Bennet's characterization of Clinton as a redneck, barroom brawler. Lieberman's "it does have an appeal to it" is not specifically about bombing Iran.

And your point is? (Like that excuses Lieberman?)

NOT.

The point is that Huffpo is trying to make some hay about Lieberman's reckless bellicosity. They could just as easily, though, have created a headline that tried to show that Lieberman thought there was an appeal to wearing pearls, or throwing down shots at a bar. In the context of Bennet's comments, it's more charitable to assume that Lieberman is referring to Bennet's description of his kind of candidate or politician or whatever he said.

Left wing web sites are just as prone to distortion as the right wing ones. You have to be careful about what you bite off and swallow from either.

Reckless, irresponsible, dangerous, take your pick all apply to Lieberman, McCain, Clinton. My six year old has better foreign policy ideas then these three combined. My six year old, "Mama, why don't they sit down and talk, just like you make me and my sister do?"

I hope soon everybody stops to take seriously this clown. I don't care which religion he is or from hwere he came..he is just a trator ans as trator he will be treated...if he think he is going to be welcomed by Republicans doing their dirty job...may be so but just for a while until elections are over. At the end of the day nobody will need Joe Lie-berman.

THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS THAT WE HAVE WITH IRAN THAT CANNOT BE SETTLED AT A NEGOTIATING TABLE.

They are, and should be a natural ally of the USA, instead we do nothing but threaten and scare them at every turn. Why is this good for us?

People seem to forget that our CIA deposed their democratically elected leader in 1953 and replaced him with the Shah. 25 years later, they got rid of the Shah and held our people hostage for 444 days. That was a truly awful thing to do, but, come on, they didn't murder anyone. Compared to what we did to them, that was a mild response.

Then we supported Saddam Hussien when he launched a land/oil grab against them in the 1980's, complete with Donald Rumsfeld shaking the dictators hand and offering deadly materials to use against the Iranians. And why did we side with the ruthless aggressor dictator against Iran?

Oh yeah, we didn't like them for taking our people hostage!
(and we wanted to control the Straights of Hormuz).
