On right-winger Bill Bennett's radio show this morning, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) expressed his openess to bombing Iran, saying that there is "an appeal to it." Discussing the West Virginia primary results, Bennett praised what he claimed was Sen. Hillary Clinton's (D-NY) transformation into his "style" of politician, which he said is someone who "throws down a shot of liquor and bombs Iran."

Lieberman whole-heartedly endorsed the "appeal" of the hawkish caricature Bennett had created:

Keith Olbermann reported that out of 20,000 explosives confiscated from Iraqi "insurgents" (read: Iraqis) NONE of them were manufactured in or linked to Iranian sources. NONE. As in ZERO. What are the odds that Iran is arming the insurgents but out of 20,000 explosives none of them are from Iran? That, too, is zero. You'd sooner confiscate 20,000 pairs of jeans and discover that none of them say Levis.

Lieberman is an odd duck. Is he a Republican or is he a democrat? I just think he's a neo-con! Generally, we have been looking at politicians through party lines and they tend to distract from the over all direction a politician is going in the war in the middle east. The real question, regardless of party, is who supports the neo-con empire vision! This vision is the driver behind Iraq and Iran and Americans need to question it's validity.

The Neocons (of which Joe and Hillary are Huge supporters) could really care less about the safety of Israel. They would rather see Israel go on being the convenient lightning rod that allows them to threaten or attack other nations in the middle east who in no way directly threaten the US.

For instance, how could one EVER come to the conclusion that the US should attack Iran if not for the supposed (and totally bogus) threats against Israel? Pakistan is VASTLY more threatening than Iran could ever dream of being. Pakistan harbors Osama, his leadership, and thousands of REAL al qeada followers. It harbors the taliban. It HAS nukes. It has sold nuke tech to our enemies, including north Korea. It has entire REGIONS of the country that are in the control of violent radicals that support Al Qeada. They directly threaten our ally, India.

At the same time , Hillary and Joe continue to ignore the Israeli settlements and the occupation, which are currently the largest contributer to terror and anti US and Israel sentiment in the middle east, and simply threaten any oil bearing nation that speaks out against them.

They could care less how many Israelis, Palestinians, or even Americans die as the result of their political cowardice and lack of moral vision. They could care less about getting Osama or shutting down Al Qeada or the Taliban.
