Lieberman: Bombing Iran Has A Certain Appeal To It

On right-winger Bill Bennett's radio show this morning, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) expressed his openess to bombing Iran, saying that there is "an appeal to it." Discussing the West Virginia primary results, Bennett praised what he claimed was Sen. Hillary Clinton's (D-NY) transformation into his "style" of politician, which he said is someone who "throws down a shot of liquor and bombs Iran."

Lieberman whole-heartedly endorsed the "appeal" of the hawkish caricature Bennett had created:

Lieberman always gives useful pointers. By now we now: listen to what he says and do (or vote) the opposite. We have already seen in the past what his "wise" opinions on Iraq have done to the US lives and the economy, Iraq and our standing in the world.

I find very little appealing about war, except there are times when it is necessary. Anyone being a "hawk" has little to do with the concept.

Now when it comes to Iran, did we not try the peace thing some 30 years ago, and all they did was play games? Color me naive, but if rogue nations won't play civilly, more stern methods may be necessary in the future. For example, how long does one say "Stop it" before calling the police?

That's not to suggest the US is the world's police, which is another debate, but given the choice, I'd rather not see Iran have nuclear-anything. I don't believe their leaders are trustworthy.

I suppose attacking yet another country who didn't attack us with a false flag operation would appeal to someone like him. I can't even take him as bad humor anymore, the guy just grosses me out. He is in politics for all the wrong reasons. If he has issues with isreal, he needs to get over it. They have clouded his judgement in all he does. Not something you want in a senator. If he can't remain neutral in something like this, would you really want him running a a VP candidate for either side? This is his motive, swing with the breeze in the hopes someone notices hs position. What a con artist.

My comments have nothing to do with anti semitism. Truth is that there are many of the jewish faith in my family, and whose holidays we enjoy celebrating . I am and never have been a fan of Joe Lieberman. the guy just cannot be trusted. It has nothing to do with the haulocaust, which I think was beyond barbaric. (Keep in mind, many Italians suffered as well). This has to do with wanting someone like Lieberman out of politics. Period for the good of all. He gives decent people a bad name. Its time for him to go. But please, do not take my comments to be anti semitic. That isn't the intent.

Maybe we need a constitutional amendment stipulating that no one holding citizenship in any country other than the United States may serve in Congress or as president. Our lawmakers and our chief executive should owe allegiance to the United States and ONLY the United States.

Considering how many people of the Jewish Faith live in Iran, yep - I think Lieberman's statement was atrocious and simple minded and stupidly arrogant.

I am disgusted with Lieberman, I am disgusted with his tactics, and I hope the UN Ambassador from Iran writes yet another letter condemning comments such as these.
