Obama Sweetie

Barack Obama passed off a reporter today in Michigan, and she seemed less than amused by his name for her.

"Hold on one second there, sweetie," he says.

The reporter signed off: "This sweetie never did get an answer to that question."

This just gets better and better. Liberals have cast such a wide net and overfished the PC pool that it's more likely that they'll now drag one of their own onto the Good Ship Lollipop for a voyage to the reprogramming camp. LOL

fishsandwichesr2good, You are right. You are correct. Sometimes liberals go too far with language correctness. On the other hand conservatives love to scream about political correctness, to excuse their vile name calling and demonization of others, especially minorities. This too is true. I like grouper sandwiches.

He hasn't been treated too kindly by MSM in the last couple of months.

I say get over it and get a life.

May be thats the bomb Hillary was waiting for. Barack will call someone sweetie and the SDs will say,we can not have that.lol. If thats all the American media could fine for news, then they really do have issues. Every day they address other nations terrorists, threatened to obliterate other nations and those are never metioned as offensive,in fact, they say it as if it were offering birthday presents or dishing out valentine day flowers.but calling someone sweetie is offensive.

Someone's getting a little grumpy. Is is that time, Sweetie?

But seriously, let's stop looking for reasons to manufacture offense. This is almost as ridiculous as the time they tried to accuse Obama of flipping off Hillary when he scratched his nose a few seconds after saying her name. If this is the worst you can come up with, Obama will waltz into the White House.

Nooooo. Not Sweetiegate. We've gotten over Wrightgate, Flagpingate, Bittergate and Michelleobamahateshercountrygate, to name just a few. Now there's Sweetiegate! Geez. There have been so many OIbamagates I'm begining to think the press is just making them up.

I can see how some would try to make this a bigger deal but come on. I get called dude or even kid from those that are older once in a while. (I'm a guy in my mid20s.) I get called sweetie or hon often from women of all ages (some I know and some I don't like those I stores, etc). Not really a big deal. It all depends on how it's delivered really and it doesn't come off as demeaning.

Notice he said, "One second, sweetie" (or something like that)?

That's the way a father reacts when he's trying to do something important, and he has a young child who's tugging on his pants leg saying, "Senator! Excuse me, Senator!"

I have a solution....Obama should ONLY respond to male reporters if something like this gets blown up. I'm a woman and some women are getting on nerves with this foolishness.

Contrary to what I have read in this environment I, as someone supportive of Mr. Obama am not blindly supportive. The senator erred in calling the reporter sweetie and he would do well to mind his manners because I would guess he was raised better than that. The reporter felt diminished and rightfully so, though I wonder about motive in all things political and what her pre-remark feelings were concerning Mr. Obama.

One of the things some seem confused about is the state of morality/virtue within the brown/black community. My experience is that the standard is high and the understanding deep that through morality/virtue one can escape the unseemliness of whatever societal situation they may find themselves in. There is a detectable pride coming out of brown communities concerning this man. But he must exemplify the best in that community not the stereotype of that community in all that he does for he has chosen to bring his message to the largest of audiences. Casual, flippant, remarks are unacceptable. This is not to disparage the senator it is to remind him of the gullible nature of a population considering a fledgling proposition of America starting the long last leg of the journey to be truly post racial. That is a tight rope where one can not waver to a desire to be dismissive or arrogant. I see no Messiah’s in the race, just the best person amongst the three people vying for the position; nothing more.

Hell no! How's that for imperfection.

Seriously though, it was not my attention to be self righteous but more than that I intended to express awareness of the political climate. The forces of evil wait for innocuous things like this to craft national security breaches from them (mountain from molehill, infinite from the infinitesimal, etc…). That would be ok were it not for that nagging factor of the propensity of the public to be duped. Far from attempting to represent perfection I was more speaking to the frailty I see in myself (first and foremost) and others -- like you for instance in your zeal to cast aspersions because I was willing to point out that Mr. Obama erred (as he later admitted) in calling the reporter sweetie. I will try to make sure that I only present my positive Obama comments from now on in deference to your opinion that somehow I desire perfection versus truth.

People this all part of that now famous Clinton Kitchen sink strategy, when you don't have a real issue you just make stuff up! On to the general!

and your response to everything is to blame clinton. let's see did clinton put words in obama's mouth? did clinton pay the reporter to ask him a question or to respond as she did when he called her sweetie.

No.

ok, then stop blaming hillary.

I think Obama should not have used the expression, but I'm not going to get my shorts in a twist
either. It' been a long hard fought campaign, and I think everyone is a little punch drunk.
