Just off the House floor today, the Crypt overheard House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers tell two other people: "We're closing in on Rove. Someone's got to kick his ass."
Asked a few minutes later for a more official explanation, Conyers told us that Rove has a week to appear before his committee. If he doesn't, said Conyers, "We'll do what any self-respecting committee would do. We'd hold him in contempt. Either that or go and have him arrested."

How useless can congressional "oversight" be? The cow left the barn a long, long time ago. The damage has been done. Rove broke the law numerous times while in the White House, and was involved in illegal and unconstitutuional activities on a daily basis. And NOW they're gonna hold him in contempt, and arrest him? The only contempt here is the contempt that Rove, Bush, Cheney, etc. hold for the Constitution and the rule of law, and the will of the people. All these people are going to walk away from the most egregious mass violation of law in American history. Shut up, Conyers. You and the rest of the congress are wimps. If you cared at all about this republic, you would have thrown the shit at the fan a long time ago.

We don't want there to be any chance of a pardon when Mr Rove heads to the Big House.
I suspect that we'll have a whole slew of pardons on the day before the inaugural. And if we elect McCain, there will be at least one more, for GW Bush.

As much as I would love to see Karl Rove taken to task I can only say that I will believe when I see it. The voters elected the Democrats in 06 with a definite mandate to stop the war and to exercise oversight and accountability and so far we have not seen much of either.
