Michelle Obama

The Tennessee GOP hasn't yet had their fill of Obama dirty tricks. A few months ago, they circulated a photo of Barack Obama in traditional Somali garb. Now, they are going after his wife.

Today they have circulated a video of Michelle's now-infamous 'proud' comments, which have been combined with shots of Tennessee voters describing why they are proud of their country:

[WATCH]

The video came bundled with a sarcastic press release, which you can read after the jump.

The Obama camp fired back defending Michelle Obama:

This is a shameful attempt to attack a woman who has repeatedly said she wouldn't be here without the opportunities and blessings of this nation. The Republican Party's pathetic attempts to use the same smear tactics to win elections have failed in Mississippi, failed in Louisiana, and will fail in November because the American people are looking for a positive vision of real change. And if the Tennessee Republican Party has a problem with Senator Obama, maybe next time they'll have the courage to address him directly instead of attacking his family.

Tennessee Press Release:

NASHVILLE, TN - The Tennessee Republican Party welcomes Michelle Obama, wife of Barack Obama, to Nashville today, where she's the guest of honor at a Tennessee Democratic Party fundraiser.

To welcome Mrs. Obama to Nashville and Tennessee, we asked a few Tennesseans to take a few moments to tell her what makes them proud of their country. Viewers will find their statements stand in stark contrast to two incidents in February when Mrs. Obama announced that for "the first time in my adult life" she was proud of America.

And while Mrs. Obama has trouble being proud of the country where she earned degrees from Princeton University and Harvard Law School and then became a multi-millionaire, her husband makes statements that belittle average Americans' response to the difficulties of life, including his recent statement that, in tough times, "it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

The Tennessee Republican Party has always been proud of America. To further honor the occasion of Mrs. Obama's visit, the Tennessee Republican Party has requested the playing of patriotic music by radio stations across the state.

dwill -is no one (name fits well)
Uh Chesh believes that people should edit words out of quotes, and thinks anyone who disagrees is dumb.

She hate two engagements that day The second one she changed. Listen to the first one again in slo-mo. You just might get it this time.

It is no wonder Rush always says he does it, "with half his brain tied behind his back just to make it fair." For years, I thought that was playful arrogance. It is not. It is true.

So many are parroting the idea about editing of her statement. That's because Michelle's defenders don't realize this was a prepared statement and she made it twice in one day. The one without "really" was in Milwaukee. Later that day she said it again, more haltingly, with the word "really" added, in Madison (Feb. 18, 2008). The 'really' version from Madison has an audio glitch on the word "really" that's existed from the day it was released by Breitbart.

See BOTH versions at link below, in one videoclip. (It was something she wanted to say, even if badly.)

Of course, we all know that Michelle Obama was just talking about politics.

I'm not proud of America's politics, either - because of things like this dishonest and ignorant Swift-Boating of Michelle Obama. Just the kind of Un-American behavior we've come to expect from our dishonest and cowardly right wingdings.

Thanks, you answered my question as to your age.

Hint: Google the interest rates for those who wanted to buy a home while he was PREZ.

Then Google, Iran. Where Iran made an ass out of our President and country for some 476 days and you folks are worried about a world view? Tally, Ho!

The TN GOP ad is no surprise to me. The ads will get more vile.

Notice how the GOP muted the word, "Really" ?

The GOP doesn't get it. I guess they haven't learned from the special elections in: MS, LA and ILL.
Their brand is damaged and should be recognized as Dog Food, Made In China.

I don't think that anything that repubs throw at Obama will be even close to the nastiness and the disrespect that Hillary got from Obama crowds. I for one will sit back and enjoyed. After a Dukakis like trouncing, will be ready for 2012

They edited out when she says "REALLY" as in REALLY proud.

There may have been an edit in there somewhere, but not in the very first clip. Why the hell just not admit she was wrong and needs to admit it? Why the hell is that so hard?

They cannot admit it; they do not have the gene necessary to process information not consistent with their preconceived notions about their messiah. It is a genetic defect; we should not make fun of them.

If you use a quote or a video clip, you don't edit out any words period! Bleep out a vulgarity if you want but don't remove words. As a result, Republicans should not be proud or really proud of this ad.

Bison2: How dare you put the real video of Michelle Obama's statement on the Huffington Post. I order all Obama minions to immediately attack Bison2 with reckless abandon. And, if he fails to yield, then call him a racist. But why am I telling you? You know the drill.

You obviously haven't been at HuffPo long. If you are not pro-Obama it is straight to racist, don't pass go, no $200, straight to racist. Strangely enough, holding Obama to the same standard you hold all candidates to is racist. If you find for whatever reason, Obama is not qualified for the Presidency, you are, you guessed it, a racist. Oh I'm sorry, did I not say racist enough?

I think a man's wife and kids should be off limits, no one is attacking Cindy McCain for not showing her taxes...nor should she...FAMILY should be off limits. How dare they go after a man's family...go after him if your so tough, because it didnt work in Miss. and NC...so now they go after the family...if i was Republican thank God i'm not, too much ignorance, i would be ashamed. This woman is a great person and a Mom of two beautiful young girls. Furthermore the rest of that comment is not being played which is another travesty...I can't wait to see the biggots out of the Office.

I hate defending McCain but they both decided to file separately in the beginning. Back when McCain was a nobody. Being a business owner, I understand that. Besides, McCain has a plethora of issues to attack him on. You don't need that at all. If you need help, I am an AZ conservative. I could give you an endless list. Much of which hasn't even been addressed here or elsewhere. YET!

Of course Cindy doesn't want to publicize her taxes. Given the pre-nup stipulations, she may not want John to know her net worth. I assume that is one reason that they file separately.

Cindy's taxes are fair game and may reveal potential "conflicts of interest." Another rational why she reportedly sold mutal funds of companies that have "interest" in Sudan. There maybe investments in "defense contractors"

What is the point to all this? Lincoln's wife, Mary Todd, was a manic-depressive they had to hide from the public much of the time. Sooo...we shouldn't have elected Lincoln to the Presidency? Give me a break! Personally I think Michelle Obama is remarkable. But she really has nothing to do with who we cast our vote for.

Wow. I thought this comment by Michelle Obama was last week's news. I can't believe they're still stuck on this. Perhaps it means that the left hasn't been as efficient as the right in providing a barrage of nonsense to move one to nauseum. The GOP slogan should be "And now for our next screw up..."

Anyone notice that Ms Obama used this line for the first time saying ...I'm proud... and later used the same line but added the word "really" proud. So the assholes who made this ad, used the quote from the time she said 'really" and edited out "really" Pretty dumb!
