MSNBC :

Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee absolutely tore into President George W. Bush for his comments from Israel, which appeared to take a swipe at Obama.

Bush said this morning, "Some seem to believe we should negotiate with terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: 'Lord, if only I could have talked to Hitler, all of this might have been avoided.' We have an obligation to call this what it is -- the false comfort of appeasement."

Typical Conservative opposite world.

Bush appeases, kisses, holds hands with, gives weapons to...

The country and family most involved in the 9/11 attacks:

The Bin Ladens and the Saudis.

When politicians say anything, it's always about politics. Everybody has been attacking Bush viciously & he's not allowed to attack anyone? How ridiculous!!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:25 PM on 05/17/2008

A) What is ridiculous is your lack of knowledge that it has been a long-standing tradition for American politicians not to attack their American political opponents while overseas addressing foreign governments.

B) Conveniently ignoring the fact that Bush doesn't even understand what appeasement is, aren't you?

C) Above and beyond A), it doesn't at least embarrass you that the President of the United States would make a speech in front of a foreign government in which he TRIES to attack a political opponent and muffs it because of B), thereby painfully demonstrating (once again) on the world stage that he is both petty AND stupid?

A typical politician in the midst of an election season, belated indignation from the architect of the bankruptcy legislation that is denying millions of Americans the ability to crawl out from under oppressive debt. An unregulated lending system with no usury standards was a present from Senator Biden to his corporate credit card industry supporters. They have established their headquarters in his state because of a corporate friendly environment that exempts them from those pesky taxes and fees which average working people will have to subsidize.

The ultimate indignation is that experienced by the American people who are ignored by their elected representatives from both parties. They now serve a new master, Corporate America. They know everything in this country has a price tag on it; the mantra of the free market crowd. Considering that 70% of the voting districts in this country are considered 'Safe' voting districts (gerrymandered control by one party or the other and no significant opposition), why are we so surprised that we are ignored by our representatives in Washington? Just remember, voting the same people into office time after time and expecting different results is one definition of insanity !

The indignation was immediate. Biden is no typical politician, if you take time to find out. A few biographical details: He was the youngest elected Senator at 29, lost his wife and baby daughter soon after in a car crash-- victims of a drunk driver. At the encouragement of Ted Kennedy he did not step down but with his sister's help, commuted from Washington each day to be with his family. He has continued to do so for over 30 years.
He could not stop the bankruptcy legislation but was instrumental in making it less onerous. It was not a compromise he was happy about. But, he's only one man. He has supported the governor of Delaware Ruth Minner in her initiatives for education and support services for single parents, among other things. He has visited danger zones in Africa and the middle east, and he has been steadfast through several administrations to encourage a foreign policy that will do the right thing and intervene in cases of genocide.
On Corporate America. Biden has never had a conversation with a lobbyist, has not been beholden to any corporate or interest group. That is one reason why his campaign has to be run strictly on grass roots donations. No corporation can count on him for favors.
Just a sketch. It is disturbing when things are repeated from a scrap of information.

Regrettably, it's not surprising that George W. Bush didn't know, ignored, or deliberately violated an unwritten rule regarding raising domestic political disputes on foreign soil. After all, he's our dumbest and worst president in our nation's history. What does he have to lose? No one respects him anymore. And anything he says is almost immediately disqualified as garbage, lies, or political propaganda. This is what has come from eight years of Rovian "marketing" as a tool to manipulate public opinion.

To Republicans, the answer to their problems lies in "branding" -- of coming up with that perfect bumper sticker slogan that will carry them to victory. Nonsense! What these fools fail to realize is that they will be judged on their record -- their accomplishments or, in this case, lack thereof. That is why they are panicking in this election year. They know that they don't have a leg to stand on. So they will resort to lies and smears in hopes of distracting public attention away from the truth of just how badly they screwed things up.

The Republican party's McCain along with Bush need to be thrown into America's garbage dump as something that detracted from the country's well being and ran the country afoul of worldly conduct. It is time for a new leader and time for American people to say....."I am proud of my President" Obama comes to mind here.

I wonder if the President plans for his library sayings of Goebels, Hitlers propoganda minister to be displayed as "profound thoughts". Stories like "my pet goat" will make up the lighter side of the Presidential library.

Honestly, would you expect anything less from "The Decider" Daadummmm..

First you have to consider that Bush, is a C grade average product of the 2 most greed producing universities in the world. He attended Yale, and the Harvard Business School. Only Satan himself can teach more about greed and hatred of mankind , and Bush probably got a C from Satan U as well.

So you take these comments, which I am sure the GOP and Shitboats will run crazy with, along with Huckapees comments about shooting Obama, and McWars comments. factor these into mass propaganda from Limpballs, ORiely, Spin Beck,Hanity and others. Broadcasting to millions of simpletons and low life redneck neo nazi christain bible thumpin kkk skin head nazi nascar loving GetRDone gun lovin kill em all not my tax money if I only had a brain GOP supporters, and you have the formula for a possible McWar win.

I forgot, you have to remember all the hillary , we hate Obama no matter what radicals too. I am sure they will vote for Mcwar just to get revenge on all the people who didnt agree with them. Which to me sounds like Republicans. No matter what party they may claim to be.

Hi,

The Republican Party has nothing to run on other than to try and demonize the Democratic Party candidate no matter who he or she is.

The American people have had enough of the Republican Party rubbish! The 2000 and 2004 campaigns are noteworthy for the Republican Party use of personal attacks.

This time (2008) the attack dog policies of the Republican Party are not going to work. The sooner they realize it the better off they will be.

what do U think??

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:59 PM on 05/16/2008

Hey alfrede, I agree with all of your negative comments about the Republicans.

But the Democrats could have stopped funding the war in Iraq, and they did not.
The Democrats could have impeached Bush for numerous crimes, and they did not.

In fact their war funding has been done in co-operation with the Republicans, and in direct defiance of regular Democratic voters. They have been sneaky and underhanded in how they went about it, and today was no exception.

Read about what they are doing, if you are interested.

http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/051608J.shtml

It took a group of reps who defied the Democratic party leadership and voted to not fund the war again. And a bunch of opportunistic Republicans to vote present instead of yea or nay to kill the funding bill. And the Democratic leadership is upset. And both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are silent.

We also need Democrats to run on much more than demonizing the Republicans, and easy task, and they need to prove to us now that we can trust them. Todays vote shows the opposite.

Biden needs to be honest and tell the nation that we have an out-of-control Republican Party and America and Western Democracy is in great danger.

It's more prevalent than just some of the Republicans. There's a growing sense of "get it while you can" happening with people of wealth or in power. Kind of a "runaway train" phenomena. There's an extensive article in the latest "Fast Company" about China and it's neo-colonialism in Africa. They're all money and no rules. The West may just lose all control of the oil trade in general, not just that it's traded in dollar denomination.

He said it for months when he was campaigning for President, but the glassy eyed folks that read this blog did not watch him. After all, only Obama did not support the war (which so many have interpreted "did not vote" for the war so no one else was given any credence for all the other stuff they know.. Biden by far was the best candidate.

Anybody who believes Obama is an "appeaser" should read David Brooks' column in today's NY Times. Obama sketches an intelligent, nuanced, well-thought-out approach to dealing with the Lebanon situation and foreign policy more generally. Sample: quote “The debate we’re going to be having with John McCain is how do we understand the blend of military action to diplomatic action that we are going to undertake. I constantly reject this notion that any hint of strategies involving diplomacy are somehow soft or indicate surrender or means that you are not going to crack down on terrorism. Those are the terms of debate that have led to blunder after blunder.”

Obama goes on to praise George H.W. Bush for his intelligent handling of Gulf War I and the collapse of the Soviet Union: “This is not an argument between Democrats and Republicans. It’s an argument between ideology and foreign policy realism. I have enormous sympathy for the foreign policy of George H. W. Bush. I don’t have a lot of complaints about their handling of Desert Storm. I don’t have a lot of complaints with their handling of the fall of the Berlin Wall.”

In other words, we need to be not just tough but tough AND SMART.

I have become convinced Obama has the capacity to become not merely a good president, but a great one.

Intelligent and nuanced does not play well in a country that ranks 51st in literacy and where Ironicly 51% of the population believes in creation theory.

And where their news providers are Rush and Hannity who could not make it through H/S if it was not for shop classess... no college.
