Obama Memo: 17 Pledged Delegates Away From Winning Primaries

In a sign that they are likely to declare victory in the presidential primary very soon, the Obama campaign is now boasting in a memo to reporters that they are on the cusp of winning the pledged-delegate majority, thanks to the endorsement from John Edwards and a group of his delegates.

By the Obama campaign's math, they are only 17 elected delegates away from the pledged-del majority, a number that they are guaranteed to pull off next week in Oregon and Kentucky. Expect them to court super-delegates to break their way en masse after that happens, on the basis that Obama has the popular mandate to be the nominee.

Does this mean Hillary will back down?? NO, this just mean the gal will be running even harder if that is possible. Gee what will it take for Hillary to get the message that's it's over?????

The pundits are already joking... saying Obama's victory is like Bush's "Mission Accomplished"
message. This guy is just too eager for his own good. Did you see the flag pin???? Yikes! Talk about pandering poser. He couldn't be more phoney.

He doesn't wear one he isn't patriotic enough. He wears one he is pandering. Nice to have it both ways isn't it? Fact is Sen. Clinton could win all the rest of the contests 100% to 0% and she still won't be abel to catch Sen. Obama's pledged delgate count.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:55 AM on 05/20/2008

No, she actually could catch up if she won every remaining race 100% to 0%. However, at ANY reasonably expected rates, she CANNOT catch up with him!

well you guys know that she is planning a victory party in Kentucky tomorrow. I wonder how the MSM will cover Obama's and her's at the same time..lol

Simple: for his, they will be there with cutting edge technology; for hers---and U bet she will have one, there is no half way in THIS denial-- they will just run montage of Freddy Kruger hideous phoenix from the ashes clips from the archive.

This was a "slow" Saturday for Barack Obama but I do believe that he gained six more delegates today. This included another pledged delegate shift...Hillary should never have opened up that can of worms.

Also check out Nevada today. Bill, when surrounded by Obama supporters, based his speech on unity.

Obama gained another SD, two add-ons and...

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:31 AM on 05/18/2008

For the trolls, I should have said; Bill, when OUTNUMBERED by Obama supporters, based his speech on unity. This was in Nevada, check out DCW (Democratic Convention Watch 2008).

In addition, if 17 is an accurate number, because of another pledged delegate shift that number is now 15.

By Tuesday a.m. Obama will be close to a 200 total delegate lead...he's now only shy by 8. Oregon and Kentucky will be a wash. What next, Puerto Rico? Will her next metric be world delegate counts? No chance there.

Kentucky will be Hillary's last hurrah...last opportunity for confetti...unless she plans on vacationing in Puerto Rico.

Oops, beginning to look even worse for Hillary. Appears that Obama has gained 7 today, Hillary -1.

Why am I wasting my time when it's been over for weeks? On to McCain.

Uh....thanks but no thanks, GOP mouthpiece.

GOP campaign strategists don't even know the meaning to the word "appeasement." They lie about Obama being an appeaser, but they themselves have already offered tons of concessions to Iran and North Korea, clearly appeasing by their own definition.

MY guess is that they are once again off target. Just a hunch.

It's funny how 'experience' has become a topic of conversation in this campaign.

When Bush took (stole) the White House, he'd hardly ever traveled out of the country before. He knew nothing about foreign policy then and has learned little. He's just a glad-hander, and a bad one at that, as he fumbles his way through the Middle East.

Obama has no experience? Look at what we've all learned from the mockery Bush has made of the office of our President, the administration, the department of defense, corporate America and our good country. Bush will certainly be remembered as the worst president in U.S. history, as well as one of the worst figures in world history.

Bush has taught the entire world how NOT to run a country.

While Bush and his cronies have ruined Afghanistan, Iraq, and the U.S., they have also ruined the Republican party. The good news is that just a few months from now, we will have revolutionized politics in America.

I will be very happy to have a president that I'm not ashamed of.

its always going to be something... don't you get that?

if it were hilary.... it would have been that she is a liar. if it had been biden.. it would have been his bad hair plugs.

its always going to be something. so in the end its just better to stand your ground and fight whatever fight needs to be fought and not get caught up in trying to be a step ahead of the republicans with flawed candidates (hilary)

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:59 PM on 05/17/2008

And during both Bush elections, there was a lot of hard hitting by Democrats about that lack of experience. And yet now, it does not seem to matter.

Even more interesting is how when Clinton ran, military experience was not a problem with you, but Kerry v. Bush, lack of military experience and service was. Now you have two candidates with no military experience v. one who has a ton and its now not an issue. I personally think military service is a wonderful feather in one's cap, but it does not make a President fully competent.

Please report both sides of the story in your posts.

Besides, we are far from over, right? We have Kentucky, Montana, Oregon, South Dakota to finish out the 50 states, then last is Puerto Rico, and Guam was just completed, plus the 7 more U.S. States Obama says that we have somewhere in our midst.

And drzoon- before shaking the dirty end of the stick, let us not forget that Dems are just as guilty about making issues out of non-issues. With Bush and Cheney, it was alcoholism and the fact Cheney was on a few corporate boards. With McCain, it is his age. With Romney and Huckabee, it was religion. Heck, there are plenty of Dem voters out there who make Obama's race an issue. Making issues out of non-issue topics is a problem for BOTH sides.

so Obama stole the nomination from Hillary, because the great DNC won't allow millions have their constitutional right to vote. How disgraceful.

Please don't try this crap! The rules were stated to BOTH states before they changed their election dates, ALL parties involved, INCLUDING THE STATES agreed to the rules, and the legislatures in BOTH Florida and Michigan changed their dates. These are the facts, and if you have a problem with the facts, please stop posting drivel such as this!

Hillary wants to disenfranchise 2 million voters in Florida and Michigan by having the elections count.

"I didn't understand why Sen. Obama and some of his supporters wanted to prevent you and other states from actually being able to vote," she said on a Wilmington, North Carolina station." That is both a lie and hypocrisy.

"In a study, Wharton School Assistant Prof. Gregory Nini and liberal author Glenn Hurowitz try to figure that out, based on voter turnout in other states. Their conclusion: Based on a statistical comparison with turnout in other states" primaries, it appears that roughly two million more people would have voted in Florida and Michigan had they expected their delegates to be seated."

"Although the Democratic turnout rate was impressive in Florida and Michigan, it was not nearly as high as it has been in other primaries so far. ... In many other states, Democratic voters outnumbered Republican voters by at least 3 to 2. Simply stated, in states where Democratic voters expected their delegates to count and the candidates spent time and money campaigning, Democratic turnout has vastly exceeded Republican turnout. The fact that Republicans outnumbered Democrats in Florida and Michigan suggests that many would-be Democratic voters in those states chose not to vote at a much higher rate than in other states."

By what definition????????? By the current definitions of left right and middle (according to Washington!) McBush is a moderately right leaning conservative, Obama and Hillary are both moderately left leaning liberals. However, by the definitions of most of America, John McBush is an extreme radical right wing nut job, Hillary is a slightly RIGHT leaning conservative, and Obama is a centrist!!!

God bless Barak Obama. But, I've never been so deeply appalled by the comments of any politician as I was by former Governor Mike Huckabee's today in a speech before the NRA: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/05/16/huckabee-talks-about-some_n_102178.html
It merits immediate condemnation by all Americans. In a healthier world, it would spell the end to his nascent media career.

It touched on the worst fear (again, that word fear) that some lunatic would oust Obama through violence, just as the Kennedys & MLK were - so incredibly awful & unfortunate to have put that scenario into some loner Nut's head - I'm not prone to conspiracy theories, but I just have to wonder if that noise was made just then, at a NRA meet-up, to pre-emp such a response -

On the one hand, I want to feel sorry for Huckabee. He could've stopped at, "Obama tripped over a chair", but in trying to search for a punch line, his brain remembered where he was (NRA function), and it thought - GUN. And before he knew it, out came the punch line (as Huckabee thought it might have been).

On the other hand: HE SHOULD KNOW BETTER!

THUMBS DOWN FOR HUCKABEE! (No pass for any GOP politician, since they make a living lying about what other people say and do it so brazenly).
