In a sign that they are likely to declare victory in the presidential primary very soon, the Obama campaign is now boasting in a memo to reporters that they are on the cusp of winning the pledged-delegate majority, thanks to the endorsement from John Edwards and a group of his delegates.

By the Obama campaign's math, they are only 17 elected delegates away from the pledged-del majority, a number that they are guaranteed to pull off next week in Oregon and Kentucky. Expect them to court super-delegates to break their way en masse after that happens, on the basis that Obama has the popular mandate to be the nominee.

I do agree about that All4, but I still have this sticky feeling in the pit of my stomach that the Clintons have a plan for the convention. I will say she fought a gutsy battle.

I agree. By all accounts we appear to have won. Let's not be sore winners. Let's start the reconciliation now.

Let's be the change we want to see.

Obama!

The thing about Clinton moving the goal posts is that she can only "talk" about moving them, she can't actually move them herself - something she, many of her supporters, often the media, and always her surrogates seem to overlook. It's been an effective (and divisive) distraction, but in the end - which is fast approaching - the game will be won by the contestant who played by the rules and kept his eye on the prize. The prize being the future and well-being of the nation.

Now it is time to unite and face the very powerful and blind threat to our country - the RNC and JMcC.

OBAMA '08
YES WE CAN!!!

I want these evil people out of power more than I can say, but watching the video of the West Virginia voters comments, I wonder how will we do it with this level of low intelligence in this country????

I felt EXACTLY the same way.. My mouth was hanging open looking at that video..No wonder the REPUGS cut education and keep the public school system so downtrodden.. That's how they keep getting elected!!

By getting some of the 45-50% that do not normally vote to go out and vote, which is the plan. I know people have always said that the youth do not vote, which might be true most years. But this year is different. I challenge anyone to find an 18-25 year old in this country that doesn't know someone who has fought, been wounded, or died in Iraq. The MSM hasn't really talked about it but some people in the government are pushing to reinstate the draft because we are so short in military enlistments. If you don't think that will get the youth to the voting booth you are crazy.

Have no fear. WV is not indicative of the rest of the country, although there elelments to be found anywhere you go. Obama's got this one in the bag by a landslide. No way are we going to put McCain in the WH. NO WAY !

It is comments like the first part of your first sentence that has the Hillary supporters coming here and saying how vile Obama supporters are.

Do you think you can keep that to yourself when commenting here? Good grief, are you not aware that Obama supporters are now attempting to unite the party, yet it is his supporters like you that just drive the wedge in even further?

How about staying away from the boards until you can come here in a calm manner and leave your negativity towards the Clintons to yourself.

One thing I love about Obama is that he views honesty as the best policy. Whenever his campaign puts out delegate counts, they are spot-on. Now when he puts out memos like this, media take them seriously because they know he means them. Clinton, McCain and Bush seem to think you can lie about stuff for short-term gain and not pay any long-term credibility costs.

Obama has been playing the long game this entire primary season, while Clinton has reacted and reinvented herself so many times its hard to count. I'm sure Obama already has his strategy mapped out through the fall, while McCain still seems to be finding his bearings.

Well said. Whether she wins or loses the nomination, I don't know how Clinton is going to take back the encouragement she gave to closet racists to spew in public. I keep waiting for her supporters to say that this was the last straw, but they don't....they just keep saying that she MUST do what she has to do to win an election against the dread "MEN."

The upcoming election is going to be a test of exactly how much hidden racism there is (less hidden now that Hillary made it trendy to be a bigot) as well as a test of how much bullcrap Americans are willing to believe. I have heard that the Swiftboaters will be at it again, this time in support of McCain and what they will try to smear Obama with is being a muslim. I don't see how they can hold both his Christian clergyman against him and still claim that he is a muslim, but Republicans have never been strong on simple logic.

McCain was very low key in his reprimand of them last time (not nearly as angry when they lied about Kerry than when Bushie surrogates lied about him). Kerry and other senators who had served in the military went to Bush and asked him to stop telling lies about McCain's service, but McCain was not there for Kerry when it happened to Kerry.

Such an ignorant fool. How does it feel to live a life of having no mental capacity for independant thought? How does it feel to live a life where you blindly follow what someone tells you is truth?

Do you not realize that GWB negotiated with Libya and got them to disarm their nuclear weapons?

Do you not realize that GWB negotiated with North Korea, and gave them millions of barrels of oil as payment, to disarm their nuclear reactor?

Do you not realize that Ronald Reagan negotiated with Russia to end the cold war?

Cleary not. You just blindly follow what is told to you like a good little drone.

You have an awfully short memory, Jean. I guess you don't remember Reagan "negotiating" with Iran even before the election for the release of the Iranian hostages? I guess you don't remember that he went farther than that -- he actually APPEASED the Iranians by trading arms for the hostages? The only nerve that Bush hit was the one most people of conscience have -- the detestation of HYPOCRISY nerve.

Study some history; inform yourself; get a conscience; get a CLUE.

Its about time this nomination process came to a close. Not because I do not believe that every state should have a right to vote, but because it is time to take the fight to the republicans. The first time I got to vote for a president was in 2004; I watched every debate, followed every news story, and I watched in horror as democrats let republicans set the tone and pace of that election year. Here it is 2008, and it seems to be happening all over again.

I hope if/when Obama reaches 2,025 delegates she will let this go, so that democrats can start doing some swift boating!

well rosull you contradicted yourself........if you believe every state should have the right to vote then the process cant be over because KENTUCKY S DAKOTA MONTANA and PR havent voted...

stop talking out of both sides of your mouth....

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:14 AM on 05/16/2008

Wow, you are one ignorant fool.

Those states will still vote, just as the states are still voting on the Republican side even though McCain has the nomination wrapped up. But just as the Republican race reached a point where it was certain who would win, the Dem race as done the same. Those states will still vote. Those people will still have their voice heard. The difference is those results won't affect the outcome.

It's no different than the last games of the regular season when one baseball team is 15 games ahead of the 2nd team and only 8 games are left to play. It doesn't matter what happens in those games, the top team has already won. They still play the games... but the results won't affect the outcome in the end. Neither will the remaining states in the Dem contest.

He's not talking out both sides of his mouth rjean! What he's saying is this ; He believes that all votes should count====But Demacrates can't sit on the fence any more and wait while Mccain lies and a sitting Presidsent goes onto foreign soil and swift boats a Demacratic nomanee. It is not FAIR for the Presidential Demacrate Nomanee not to be able to respond in full force of being lied about, and swift boated! It's not a simple problelm, grant you! So the Dem's must hurry up and complete this, or agree to place a nomanee to fight the attack against them. rjean, like I said once before! Fair is Fair! The Republicans are fighting down and dirty and nesting with the pigs in the mud right now----------- and we need to respond right now. They are going after Obama, because that is what the math says is the Dem Nomanee. So, as it goes , it is the trueth and even the republicans now see it! So, get off your high horse's Mccain supporter and debate nicely or take it alse where.

Actually it is 17 delegates away from having the majority - which would mean that is impossible for HRC to win enough delegates in the next 5 primaries to have more delegates than BHO.

It is a turning point - a point where everyone can recognize that the election is over.
