I guess celebrities have givin up their tiny pet dogs for African babies. It seems to be the fashionable thing now, go to Africa and bring back a black baby souvenir. I know they have the financial means to provide for these children but I hope they realize this is a human being and not a pet.

Estimates on the number of orphans in foster care in America range around the number of 115,000.

Estimates of the number of orphans in Africa range around 12 million.

Estimates of the number of orphans in Asia are up to 24 million.

In Afghanistan alone, there are estimated to be 2 million orphans, with about 400,000 of them physically disabled. Most of the physically disabled were injured either by Russian antipersonnel flutter bombs, or American cluster bombs that failed to explode when they were first dropped.

There is certainly nothing wrong with helping or adopting orphans already living in America. My own Mother was an adopted orphan, I have neighbors who have adopted American orphans, so I get the feeling that there is a tendency for American orphans to get adopted first.

Is saving an overseas orphaned child's life a bad thing? Is it fair to compare saving a child with taking care of a pet?

There are many issues one can discuss in relation to adoption of orphans, and all of them should be discussed.

A black baby, the ultimate celebrity fashion accessory! Just ask Madonna. Or Angelina Jolie. By god, it gave them more press, didn"t it?

It"s a shame she had to go so far to find a baby, but I sure am glad all the American babies are already adopted. Looks like the problem has been solved here, eh?

It"s as if they are the newest species domesticated as a pet.

A wonderful thing to do. There are millions of orphans in that part of the world, who can greatly benefit from a decent upbringing.
BTW, one of by cousins adopted a baby Ethiopian orphan girl, after they had three children of their own. The other children (all girls) are absolutely crazy about their littlest sister. She is a citizen now, several years have passed, she is well adjusted, healthy, beautiful, and a joy to behold.

Congratulations.

A little advice, don't run for public office. The Republicans will say you gave birth to a black child, the father not being your husband.

Also, there are plenty of babies these people could adopt but it wouldn't get the press would it?

I love it how I can't voice my own opinion without getting bullied. Would I like more viewers to my website? Yes. Do I have millions of dollars to put towards advertising like Arianna does? No! I am suffering from a brain tumor, and the only thing that helps me forget about it is to keep up my news blog, and if I want to find a bigger audience, I will put my link wherever possible!
