Politico:

Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign is increasingly aiming its punches not at her front-running opponent Barack Obama, but at the media.

On the campaign trail, in a new ad and in her meetings with donors and superdelegates, she blasts the D.C. punditocracy for counting her out and urges anyone who'll listen to ignore the hardening storyline that places Obama as the Democratic presidential nominee.

With HRC it's always something - anything - except her, the voters, the primaries or the issues.

You should take your own advice, Hillary: If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Gosh, Hillary...is the mean ol' media pickin' on you? From where I sit, I don't buy it. I know there are a lot of young people out there that don't have a clue as to your past, but being old, I do. Seems to me that the media has been downright kind to you.

When Hillary is not speaking to the media, she's plotting her next attack.

Hillary needs to think about how many people really believe she is a good person and how many people are afraid of the Cllinton sabatoge machine. Maybe the DC crowd really do not like her and would much rather have OBAMA around that her. I know I do not trust any Clinton, there have been too many lies and too much dishonesty for my book.

Poor Hillary chose the wrong church to attend today. She went to a Methodist church in Bowling Green and ended up having to sit stern faced through a sermon on adultery.

If I were sitting in the pew (or married to an adulterer), I would have walked out, sound familiar, LOL! It always comes full circle. The Lord works in a mysterious way.

Hillary will slam anyone that does not agree with her. With an attitude like that she would be a worse president than Bush

Boo "f*cking" Hoo! Hillary, you're just pissed because you thought you could play the MSM, and they played you. If you wanted the ad to be more effective, you should have left out your friend, Georgie Boy, what a joke. I don't want you to stop campaigning, I think people want to meet a former First Lady, but please stop whining, it's so annoying. What's happened to your cojones?

65% of registered democrats nationwide want all the states to vote in this primary before crowning a candidate for november.

It's the press that keeps saying, "It's over." A majority of Registered Democrats want to see it to the end.

Keep in mind the delegate counts you read today are ESTIMATES.

None are official until the convention.

Will Obama still win at the convention -of course. But for a lot of political reasons known to party insiders.

However, this primary will prove to be very tight in the end.

Obama did NOT beat Hillary by a landslide of pledged delegates and popular vote.

Obama will NOT win against McCain in a landslide either. If he wins at all.

The logic of Hillary to compare the Democratic Primary election to the Electoral Map of the Presidential election is flawed.

She cannot ASSUME that if she won specific states 6 months ago (A), then make another ASSUMPTION she will win the same states again in November (B).

Flawed Logic -

Per www.electoral-vote.com, note in particular those SIX states in which WHICH Dem makes a difference. (States not listed below are eithe red, blue, or tie REGARDLESS of which Dem is polled opposite McCain.)

Colorado (9), Iowa (7) - Obama beats McCain, but McCain beats Hillary.
Total 16

HOWEVER

Florida (27), Ohio (20), Arkansas (6), West Virginia (5) -- Clinton beats McCain, but McCain beats Obama.
Total 58

Net advantage? 42 Electoral College votes Hillary over Obama vs. McCain IN THOSE STATES IN WHICH WHICH DEM MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

While interesting, state-level polling data this far in advance of November is of limited predictive value.

What makes you think Hillary will win WV in Nov.? The exit polls tues. indicate that just as many, would be willing to vote for McSame over Hillary.

WV went Repub the last two cycles, and Kentucky is Safely Red.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:35 PM on 05/18/2008

I only think WV would go Hillary over McCain becuase that's what West Virginian's have been telling pollsters.

As to WV exit polls....not sure what you are reading or hearing. But your position is NOT supported by CNN's exit poll:
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/epolls/#WVDEM

Dems would vote Clinton 74%, McCain 18%, if Obama were not the Dem nominee, and
Obama 49%, McCain 29%, if Hillary were not the Dem nominee.

If this is the exit poll question you're referring to (apologies re lost formatting)...

"Vote for President in November == Clinton -- Obama
Clinton (74%) == 79% -- 19%
McCain (18%) == 38% -- 38%
Would Not Vote (6%) == N/A -- N/A "

... FYI, the 38-38 split means that of the 18% who would vote for McCain in November if Obama were knocked out, 38% of those just voted for Hillary in the primary, and the same 38% just finished voting for Obama in the primary.

Agreed re KY. Hillary can pick up WV (vs 2004). Obama cannot.

Primaries vs. General Election = Apples vs. Oranges. This election has been, and will continue to be, like none we have ever seen before. Even the experts haven't been able to predict accurately, and this is what they do, all day, everyday!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:44 PM on 05/18/2008

No problem with that statement at all.

However, it is true that, in general, the Obama supporters think that winning the primary means a better chance of winning the general.

Superdelegates were invented to counterbalance such naivete, not simply mirror the masses.

LOL most of these polls are a month old. Some lunatic always brings up this argument but it means nothing at this point. If polls matter this far before the election Hillary would have beaten Obama by a landslide.

The only polls that remotely matter at this point are national polls to get you a feel of the electorate and Obama is ahead of McCain in the average polls by almost 4 points while Hillary is up by about 2 points over McCain.

I'm fine with such polls and your criticism of my perspective.

However, it's still an electoral college system -- not a popular overall vote system, let alone a popular vote state-by-state with proportional award rather than winner take all.

Your perspective ignores that.

Has Hillary been reading my comments?

I've been going bonkers for months that it's all about the ELECTORAL COLLEGE. Dems have got to stop playing for the Pennant, and eyeball the WORLD SERIES.

As of current projections, based on state-by-state polls-of-polls:

Clinton 279, McCain 242, Tie 17. Clinton wins by 37.
Obama 237, McCain 290, , Tie 11. Obama LOSES by 53.

It's the MAP, not the math. Damn straight.

Nice, but Hillary can't win Obama states and many other with out the college or black vote. She has no shot of getting that vote at all.

Math still doesn't work. There are not enough poor whites to get her to the white house.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:24 PM on 05/18/2008

Oversimplify much?

I'll counter in kind: there are not enough Obama supporters to carry him past McBush in the red states, REGARDLESS of how many college-educated or blacks there are relative to poor whites IN THOSE STATES.

Nearly all of Obama's primary wins in the midwest and rockies and south will go.... McSame.

Clinton is not entitled to a consolation prize; no politician is. Where is all the special treatment, respect, and honor for people who actually were the nominee but lost the general, as in Dukakis, Gore, and Kerry. This is just politics.

Robert Frost provided a warning for those who become too accustomed to the limelight, as the Clintons have:

"No memory of having starred

Atones for later disregard,

Or keeps the end from being hard."

The media is so very gentle with Hillary. Every time I turn on TV someone is speaking up for Hillary and they are telling us that she still can win. I am so sick of it. She must know something
we don't know yet. Like the black section in New York who had not one vote for Obama. I ask
what happened there? I surely would investigate this.

Re your first para: one of us is confused. I get 99+ channels and have yet to see anyone on TV ( outside the Hillary camp of course) saying she has more than a snowball's chance in Hades.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:30 PM on 05/18/2008

That's some analogy -- comparing consolation prizes from Republicans toward Democrats, with taking some steps to keep Democrats united.

Sheesh.

Obama 48 -- and without many Hillary supporters?

I wonder what some would say if Obama actually does win the general election. When he entered the race they never gave him a chance and look how he manage to dismantle the CLinton machine and come out a head beause contrary to what some seem to think Obama is NOT given this nomination he has EARNED it but if they take it away from him and give it to her and she is not leading in any of the metrics then that would be the defintion of GIVING it to her when she has NOT earned it. Some need to stop acting like Obama has preferential treatment no he worked hard to get the lead she sat on her laurels and lost it. I thought we are a democracy that the people's voices count that you dont give things to people that they havent earned. If you bring in the popular vote as a metrics to prove she has earned it guess what she still LOSES because then you have 5 caucus state that did not have popular vote states that Obama won so you would need to bring those in and if you do he is still ahead even if you give her Michigan and give Obama zero for Michigan. He would lead still in the popular vote. She got beaten 3 ways and its right to take it away from him and give it to her when there is no gurantee that she can win.

As a Hillary supporter, I would be happy if Obama won. Better than McSame.

That being said, the better question is what will Obamanistas say if, once nominated, McSAME wins?

Obama beats Hillary in RED states that loath her? Big deal.

As usual, it will all boil down to Florida and Ohio. How's Obama doing there? Answer: Not as good as Clinton. Moreover, McCain slots in between them.

oh please, the entire country is upset with the current administrations 1. lack of Foreign Policy, 2. failure to address Economic concerns, 3. general lackadaisical approach.

After 8 years of this, McCain isn't looked on favorably at all. And McCain doesn't seem to be doing much except for acting like a Grey-haired Parrot.

The Red State - Blue State formula is a Bush-Clinton poduct to keep the nation deeply divided into warring camps to protect unchecked corporate profiteering. Obama is writing a new formula to win the presidency.

Hillary's supporters are addicted to mean, divisive, dishonest politics as warfare. Most Americans want something different. They want to be part of unified nation again and to work hard together on tough problems.

The Bushes and the Clintons are about the past. Move on.
