Des Moines Register:

Republican presidential candidate John McCain's family background as the son and grandson of admirals has given him a worldview shaped by the military, "and he has a hard time thinking beyond that," Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Ia., said Friday.

"I think he's trapped in that," Harkin said in a conference call with Iowa reporters. "Everything is looked at from his life experiences, from always having been in the military, and I think that can be pretty dangerous."

Not only is he "too military", he is too incompetent to boot. He had his chance to be a hero on the Forrestal, but chose to bail out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki//Forrest_Fire]. He had a chance to be a hero in Hanoi, but chose to collaborate http://www.usvetdsp.com/smith_mc.htmm]. He had a chance to stand up to the neo-Con nut-cases, but he blew that too http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/02/did-mccain-flip.htmll].

I think he has an electability problem.

That last article was good. It is sad that McCain was given better treatment for his "being turned" in captivity than McClure and Smith. Very sad.

I really hope that this is discussed if McCain personally decides to lower the standards of this campaign even more so than he is doing.

It won't be discussed much, because those stories were thoroughly debunked years ago.

Just so you know, the guys behind that usvetdsp site are liars and con-men.

"He had his chance to be a hero on the Forrestal, but chose to bail out".
What do you mean by that? How did McCain "bail out"? On the contrary, McCain had the chance to return to the states with the damaged ship, but instead he volunteered to transfer to the Oriskany, because they had lost so many pilots and needed replacements. He was shot down on a mission he flew from that ship.

When his plane caught fire he had a choice to: A- Taxi his plane off the deck and ditch in the sea. B- Jump out of the cockpit and let his bombs "cook off", resulting in a series of explosions and a fire that killed 142 seamen.

Guess which choice our hero made?

McCain has worked hard over the years to keep the lid on his collaborative activities with General Giap, and mostly because it would have been a huge embarrassment to the US, he has been largely successful in these efforts. He never should have been in a plane, or even at Anapolis to begin with, and certainly has no business running for POTUS. He is a lying, scumbag and I am sorry there are deluded people such as yourself who would not see the truth if it jumped up and bit you.
