Thing is, George Lucas wrote the screenplay. Wasn't he barred for life from screenwriting after the last Star Wars movie? His dialog plays like a mouthful of soap.

Nope. David Koep wrote the screenplay.

Salma looks amazing - as usual. Amazing face, amazing body, amazing everthing.

But I'm not excited about this movie - Shia Labouf just doesn't do it for me. What happened to the real movie stars anyway? He doesn't have that certain "spark" that movie stars need but really none of the younger male stars do now. And although Spielberg is obviously talented, with the exception of the movie about the Israeli athletes who were murdered, he really hasn't done anything interesting in a long time.

I do like Harrison Ford though but this just seems like Hollywood lacks the creativity to do anything original that isn't a sequel.

You know, George Lucas has a lot of money... you think he could by himself a neck.

He is a very smart man, look at his girlfriend...a beauty with a brain, Hobson that is.....

Why do you have to be so mean? Does it make you feel better insulting him?

I was just joking...jeez!

Karen Allen was so good in Raiders of The Lost Ark and yet one has to wonder if she found that dress inside the ark?

The picture of Ford kissing his sweetie is hot. (And I'm happily married.)

All dresses were wack. Could You Please Remove The Kissing Picture. It's disturving me, you know. Too many thoughts, you know...

I'm glad Calista and Harrison are happy, but I could not stop thinking of the phrase, "Daddy Issues", when I saw the picture.

Jeez, you people need to lay off the Starbucks! What's with the negativity? All the women pictured here look terrific (although Natalie Portman really needs someone else to do her makeup), and there's nothing wrong with this movie being shown at Cannes. It's a film festival, not a pretentious film festival. Remember, it wasn't that long ago that Pulp fiction WON. Lighten up,folks, it's only a movie.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:40 PM on 05/19/2008

Right on.

If the blockbuster fare, like "Indy', is not your thing, don't go see it! But don't pretend like Cannes is being dumbed down just because stuff like this is being shown... it's supposed to be about movies, big and small, despite the venue.

I don't think the folks at Cannes will be kind to "Indy" though; they are notoriously snooty...

"I don't think the folks at Cannes will be kind to "Indy" though; they are notoriously snooty..."

Oh yeah, how "snooty" for real artists who dare to make art just for the sake of art to consider commercial blockbusters made by big corporations for an audience of pre-teens trash... The true art is what makes billions of dollars! The true art is what requires no brain power or attention at all to be understood. Down with snooty idiots like Antonioni, Bergman, Truffaut etc... and their "boring" movies. The reason why "masterpieces" like Indiana Jones don't have a shot in film festivals is **ONLY** because the judges are snooty intellectuals and not people who really know and appreciate good cinema, like truckers from West Virginia with an NRA membership...

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:09 PM on 05/19/2008

OK.

I apologize for calling you hateful.

And yes, you have the right to disagree with having movies such as "Indy" at film festivals like Cannes, and I respect your opinion.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 06:21 PM on 05/19/2008

"Wow. You really are hateful."

No, I'm not. But since you seem to appreciate the culture of "goodies and baddies" a lot (of which Indiana Jones is a stellar example), obviously you can't help making anyone who disagrees with you into an "evil" person (besides, I'm a foreigner and, as Indiana Jones movies teach "good" American children, the "bad guy" is always a foreigner...) Just like in the Hollywood brainless movies you seem to appreciate so much.

"But I also like to think I can find some good fun in the big blockbuster trash, that, yes, requires no "brain power"."

So, you admit it's trash. It's a start. But you still think it belongs in film festivals, right? BTW, that's not what you said before. Your words, verbatim:

"I don't think the folks at Cannes will be kind to "Indy" though; they are notoriously snooty..."

And BTW, Indiana Jones is NOT in competition. Only "snooty films" are... The only reason Indiana Jones is at Cannes is to attract big corporate money. And that's definitely not good for arthouse movies. All over the world, people watch less and less good movies and more and more Hollywood trash. That's bad, period, and I have the rights to complain.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:56 PM on 05/19/2008

Wow. You really are hateful.

What I meant was that all films deserve an equal chance at a fair hearing, so to speak. And I don't think a film like "Indy" would get a fair hearing at Cannes. It might actually be a really good movie, you may be surprised.

By the way, I am a big fan of Truffaut, Bergman, Kurosawa, Ozu and Fellini. In fact, I'm the ONLY person I know that prefers films that are in black-and-white and are subtitled. But I also like to think I can find some good fun in the big blockbuster trash, that, yes, requires no "brain power".

amanda, that's the second time you've made incorrect assumptions about me. You are only making yourself look like bad. How embarassing for you...

I as so dissappointed when she didn't do the other 2 Indy films, and I'm glad she's back.

These corporate, movie- by -committee people bore me. I believe, in light of much of their subsequent work, that their good movies were accidental. They did make a few good movies but there is simply too much filler and trash in their careers for me to take them too seriously.

Yeah because they really care if sufi66 takes them seriously. They're soooooooo disappointed.

Hey, keep it up Mort. Your ancestors in the democratic party were big fans of birth control as a means of controlling the expansion of the population [something to do with resources]. That was before abortion so you lucked out. Consequently we have an aging population that were children of the 60's. Old folks to you. But, old revolutionaries are still able to throw a lever to vote and march for their rights. When I was young the slogan was "Never trust anyone over 30". Probably still good words to live by.

The top movie distributors in the world go to Cannes. Speilberg and Lucas aren't fools. It's about money and distribution deals when these guys go to Cannes. Also the celebrities are photographed in wire images seen around the globe. The best publicity location on the planet for them. Massive interviews and press meetings go on all day and all night. It's work more than show for these executives in Cannes. This is why movies like these bring on over 500 million trillion in box office receipts. They set sail to cover the globe, and they make it happen. (These commercial fiilms are solid gold.) Then the movie is dubbed in diffferent languages and posters, marketing franchise toys are made and this goes worldwide...into France and Italy and every where else you can think of - starting their Indiana Jones Crystal masterpiece for the world to see, and become thrilled with.

"for the world to see, and become thrilled with"

For the world to see and become numbed with.

"But now, maybe 90 per cent of the movies that you"d see in Barcelona will be American. And they are not good movies, they are just bullshit, just stupid Hollywood movies."
