John McCain made two guest appearances during the season finale of "Saturday Night Live." In a bit during Weekend Update, Mccain advised the Democrats to keep the excitement going by not picking a candidate anytime soon.

Watch:

His other segment was a campaign ad making fun of how "very, very old" he is.

And speaking of campaign ads, SNL also did a split screen Hillary Clinton/Barack Obama ad called "There Can Only Be One"

Rachel Sklar has a full roundup on SNL's season finale, as well as more clips of the greatest skits:

At any rate this season may be gone but you won't have to wait as long for the next episode -- they'll be starting early in September so they can get as much election-mockery time in as possible. For now, content yourselves with this week's vids. Congrats on a great season, SNL! Let's see more of Casey Wilson next year.

We are doomed.

This appearance was all the evidence I need that John McCain is completely out of touch and unsuitable for the office of the President.

This country is at war - 4,078 dead 29,978 wounded. This is not the time to be funny! I have had two cousins serve in the Marines in Iraq and one is going back. As soon as I saw the newsclip about McCain trying to be funny, I wanted to throw up! I really do not need a funny president. I need a president that is going to focus on how to get us out of this nightmare. This is a criminal war started by a corrupt, criminal government. What's so funny about that?

Never in my life have a seen a sadder attempt of someone in an older generation trying to reach out to a younger generation and clearly not having a clue what could or would be considered funny.

and btw, since when has it become "en vogue" for presidential candidates to try their hand at stand-up? This is a very troubling scenario, because it shows how instead of having candidates that help us rise from our own muck and mire, these candidates just want to climb on into ours and prove they're just "one of the guys"

I dont want my president to be folksy, or plain spoken. I want him to be able to talk rings around me, so I can say, "oh yea, this guy/gal deserves to be the president". sadly, gwb has so lowered the bar, I think being able to wipe your own a.s is now seen as a viable prerequiste for becoming the leader of the free world.

America better wake up and realize that presidential candidates showing for votes and laughs on SNL, David Letterman and the like are really not worth having!

Jeb Bush as VP? Another Bush in office would be the nail in the coffin of the mcCain candidacy.

It looked like 'Grandpa McCain Visits the Kids on SNL'. It only pointed out how old and broken down he looks...the chasm between him and the audience was sooo vast. And only made even MORE evident how out of touch the Republican party and agenda really is.

In typical SNL fashion: not funny.

Why has SNL become the bellweather now- maybe because the MSM is so limp when it comes to addressing real issues.

He did great on the show, I thought it was hillarious. Kudos to you Senator McCain. When Obama Crushes you this fall, maybe you can go into Comedy as a second career :P

I kid, I KID! I love the GOP! I'll be here all week, try the veal!

true, even better when they do it to themselves.

Just because McCain remembers listening to speaches by Churchill when he was young, or Hitler when he was young, or Julius Ceasar when he was old dosn't make mcCain ancient. [not that Julius Ceasar]

I thought it was funny. It helps him 2 joke about his age like the great Ronald Reagan did. Of course, he has 2 do more than that 2 get votes. But I just thought he scored some points on SNL.

With that said, he better do some anti-Bush skits 2 seperate their "connection" or he'll surely lose. Bush will go down as 1 of the worst presidents in history. So he better create some space between him & Bush or Obama just might be our next president.

This is an independent comment. This is not a pro-McCain comment. Just my advice.

With McCain,is-it an age issue or is-it a classic act of say-do-anything just to get elected? You decide:

Let's face it, SNL endorsed Hillary ONLY because they wanted her to go against repubs. Now that she is no longer the frontrunner, the truth about them is really about to come out.

Interesting that SNL mentioned Edward's wealth but not McCain's.

Great Tex. You guys have a history of really good advice...Lyndon Johnson and GWB.

I'll accept Lyndon Johnson, but GWB and his whole famiy are Kennebunkport Maine carpet baggers. Georgie is afraid of horses. They just recently took the training wheel of his bike.
