I suggest the democratic party stop handling Hillary with kid gloves and tell het to stop the charade!
It is just plain stupid for Hillary to continue dividing the party.
No matter what the polls show - Obama will beat the pants off John McCain.

nothing sexist in calling her a liar right? Hillary lied again... seems that ten million she claimed to have gotten in one day after PA was a fabrication - now that the FEC reports have been released, we see that she cannot be trusted to even be honest about her fundraising practices - remember Paul v Clinton in California.

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/5/21/04953/3738/252/519453

this is why all the sexism dust up over the past few days - another distraction tactic.

If this race is over for Hillary Clinton, why does Keith Olbermann, Howard Feinman, John Alter, Rachael Maddow, and Chris Matthews continue to bash her and give her free air time on MSNBC.
Could it be that the superdelegates believe, like Michelle Bernard of Independent Women's Voice, that "There is no way the superdelegates can take this away from Barack Obama." "There will be RACE RIOTS in the streets."
I thought the objective of the superdelegates was to insure a win in November, not give in to overt threats from one segment of the electorate.

For months now, us Obama folks have been trying to persuade Hillary supporters the error of their ways. They didn't listen. Too bad. I knew this was coming and tried to warn you! But, NO, you thought you knew what you were talking about. See, Obama is going to be President of the United States of America! :) :o :( (We told you so!)

Kentucky, I was born and raised in the little Tri-State area where Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio sit side-by-side against the banks of the Ohio River. I was deeply embarrassed by West Virginia's performance last Tuesday, and you're poised tomorrow to wear that same mantle of shame.

Don't succumb to a narrow and fearful perspective, Kentucky! This country really is ready to elect an African-American to the presidency, and you don't need to fall back on the prevailing cynical attitudes where you live. Not only does Hillary Clinton no longer have a realistic chance for the nomination, but Barack Obama is a more than capable nominee who will defeat John McCain on November 4th.

"I'm asking you to believe. Not just in my ability to change Washington ... I'm asking you to believe in yours." -- Barack Obama

It's ok to believe, Kentucky. America is more hopeful than you know.

Oh so unless they vote for your candidate, you will be ashamed of them? This is the very reason why they won't vote for your candidate -- this elitist patronizing and looking down on them.

From the Karl Rove playbook, Ch. 14, Rhetorical devices: "Misrepresent a person's position and present it in a form that people will reject."

I would certainly join with you in rejecting everything you have noted. It's just that they have nothing to do with anything I said.

no... you should be ashamed of people who so openly and proudly tout their racist attitudes...

They would rather against their interests than vote for a black man... they have said it out of their own mouths...

If Obama said, "I am going to start giving tax breaks to all coal miners... a house... gov stipend for food and cars.... and all people of WV, KY get $1000 checks deposited into their bank accounts every month...."

and McCain said, "I could care less about the people of WV and KY... they aren't rich so they don't suit me... I will continue to ship their jobs out, and I will do nothing about you losing your home for lack of a job...."

These people would still vote McCain and hope he was bluffing before casting a vote for a black man....

ITS SAD!!!!

I think there was a reason why Obama did not go into those states to campaign. I believe he was advised strongly not to. I leave you with that.

You got it exactly right, man. I was born and raised in the Western KY tri-state area (MO, KY, IL) and a nicer bunch of racists you never met. I honestly mean that, too. They're not inherently stupid or mean. It's like they have some sort of genetic racism. They just don't know any other way to be. Aside from that, they are honest, hard working people. I don't understand how they can be so decent yet so disgusting at the same time.

I'll be voting for Obama today, but I know that it's useless in this state.

And, frankly Hillary doesn't have a hope in hell of taking this state in the general election. When it gets right down to it, these people will never vote to put a woman in the White House, either. They'll vote for whoever their preachers tell them to vote for.

I truly hope that once Obama is elected that he won't abandon a state like this. Maybe he can show these people that it doesn't matter if you're black or white as long as you're honorable and really working to better this country.

Even the reporters who have been providing breathless coverage of these late season primaries admit that the results of these primaries will have no effect on who will ultimately be declared the Democratic nominee. Yet the mainstream corporate media continues to devote an inordinate amount of coverage to every detail of the primaries they have ignored in previous elections. As is the case in West Virginia, the results of the Kentucky primary will little more than an update on the current status of racism in a given area.

Senator Byrd did endose him, however, that wonderful old guy. He is the example for people who are racists and what they can aspire to. He definitely voted his conscience. He has nothing to lose by doing so. He has served for many, many years. I remember when he spoke in support of Anita Hill. He was truly eloquent.

Anyone else notice she broke out that ol' southern accent yet again.
She did it in WV too, along with the other Southern states, I'm sure.
Appeal to those "southern strategy" Reagan Dixie....uh Democrats, eh Hill/Bill?

Rove is holding it, as the rumr goes, until October, before the election.

Ergo - the term "October Surprise." It's an old Republican trick -- hold the diritiest scandal against the opponenet 4 weeks before the election.

A trick that works most of the time.

It the GOP has the tape, they will NOT release it now to benefit Hillary.

They'll use it after Obama is the official candidate.

What's especially disheartening about the exit polls in W.Va. and Tenn. showing race is a huge factor, is that the people being polled were not even embarrassed by their racism - not embarrassed enough to lie to pollsters.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:23 PM on 05/19/2008

OR too honest to lie. I suspect in many of the other polls no one wanted to admit to being racist.

As a minister for 20 years, there are two confessions I have yet to hear, racist and gossip.

Duh, did you just wake up and realize that the USA was born in racism and it's still there to some degree. It's going to take a long time to transcend it. The absurdity of Axelrod/Obama and the pundits and media saying Obama has transcended race. He may have but most Americans (black and white) haven't.

This a blog, republics could be acting like Obama supporters, dont take the idiots into heart. Hillary will probably come up short is a fact. The republicans want to pit Women vs Blacks. Divide and Conqueror!!! Whites women should not feel angry if she does not win. African American understand how it feels to vote ever election cycle for someone that does not reflect you. WE UNDERSTAND. WE DIED FOR THIS RIGHT!!! Understand that is not BLACK vs WHITE WOMEN. YOU ALL SHOULD LET HILLARY KNOW THAT IF SHE IS VP THAT SHE SHOULD TAKE IT AND RUN IN 4 OR 8 MORE YEARS. IT WOULD BE A SURE BET!!!!!!! BUT IF YOU MAKE IT INTO BLACK VS WHITE WOMEN WE ALL WILL LOOSE OUT. DOESNT MATTER WHEN WE GET TO THE PROMISE LAND ITS IT HOW WE GET TO. Lets not fight, lets UNITE!!!! IM CALLING FOR IT NOW!!!!

OBAMA / CLINTON THEN CLINTON / WEBB

Would young idealists from the sixties approve of Hillary’s latest incarnation? Would college-age Hillary herself? At what point did electing a woman for president – at all costs - become an end in itself?

Hillary is not the sole embodiment of our dreams and aspirations from the sixties – she’s the inferior candidate.

I want the candidate who is calm and thoughtful when challenged – not obliterating Iran; one whose actions demonstrate fiscal maturity instead of spend, spin and beg; one who inspires me – but is firmly grounded in reality. I want the one who would have conceded rather than allow these endless vanity elections (with confetti showers but 20 million in the red), as millions vote on a false premise – as if it were a viable choice – as if their vote could influence the outcome.
It’s time to move forward for the common good. This is not about dissing a fellow sister; it’s about a campaign derailed by megalomaniac-delusion run amok.
Hillary, let’s pretend we’re grown-ups – just concede nobly and begin using your energy to help Obama, your party and our country…

HER SUPPORTERS WANT HER TO CONTINUE AND THAT"S WHAT SHE IS DOING. You act as though he is winning in a land slide. This is a close, granted all but over race, but she worked her ass off for almost two years and she is only a few weeks from it being over. Unless you are in her shoes, you dont' have a clue or a right to say for her to get out. The fact that you are an Obama supporter only gives you less credibility. She has not been attacking Obama, she has been promoting the party, attacking McCain and Bush, and she was the first to defend Obama over McCain and Bushes Nazi/hamas/Iran comments. It's almost over, your messiah will be the nominee and HRC will help him then. Get it, get over it.

I was being nice in my first post for the sake of party unity. I was proud that I didn't mention the Rose Law firm paper shredding frenzy, the seemingly endless list of over 20 people who died under questionable circumstances scrolling across the screen at the end of The Clinton Chronicles, her upcoming fraud trial in Los Angeles County (for which the judge said at the latest hearing in April that she would not have to testify until after the election) the many infamous ecncounters like David Brooks referred to in his opinion piece "The Cooper Concerns"...
This is not my idea of presidential material. Perhaps she should be more concerned with the party and the country than her emotional supporters - be a true leader and take the high road.

Like everything else in Obama's life, it's been handed to him on a platter. That's why he wears that air of superiority and arrogance so well (look at the tapes of the debates and how he doesn't look at or acknowledge Hillary).

Hillary has had to work for it and she's worked very hard. Do you realize how hard it was for her, a carpetbagger, coming to New York State to run for the Senate. Do you realize that upstate NY is like the South? She won and won again in 2006 in a landslide. She got Bill elected President twice and herself twice to the Senate. That's four wins against the RNC, the right wing radio and smear campaigns. It should be obvious that she is not a quitter. Why ask her to be? To give something else to Obama on a platter?

LJeanne,
Excellent post! Very eloquent and elegant. These are exactly my thoughts on this protracted, and unnecessary, nomination campaign. The sooner the nominee is announced, the better for everybody, even Clinton supporters. After all, I don't think that anybody in their right mind would vote for McCain just to spite the other camp.

I am getting sick and tired of people who are screaming that if we say people that are voting against obama are racist. 81% of the people in WV said race one a decision factor in their vote. Doesnt this mean in a 97% white state what should we think? Explain to me another point of view I should have on this?

racism

Main Entry:
rac·ism Listen to the pronunciation of racism
Pronunciation:
\ˈrā-ˌsi-zəm also -ˌshi-\
Function:
noun
Date:
1933

1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race 2 : racial prejudice or discrimination
— rac·ist Listen to the pronunciation of racist \-sist also -shist\ noun or adjective

NOW pupbayer is one of those who misuses the term... He should say prejudice or bigotry - racism implies a superiority over another race - and that is NOT the case with black against whites - they may be prejudiced, but they are not racist.
